Travel is a gentle embrace of the unknown, a courageous detour from the beaten path. We no longer rely on precise navigation, but learn to trust the direction of the wind, the road beneath our feet, and the faint yet unyielding light within our hearts. The rust on the signposts is a mark left by time, reminding us that there is no need to rush to the destination—the journey itself is the meaning. We take wrong turns with confidence, for it is precisely these unconventional choices that lead us to unexpected starlight and let us touch the truest textures of life. We feel the morning mist gently brush our cheeks on an unnamed mountain trail, sit quietly by an abandoned train station, and watch the sun sink inch by inch below the horizon. Travel is not about proving we have been somewhere, but about remembering how we have lived. It teaches us to find quiet amidst the noise, to pause amidst the rush, and to realize amidst the pursuit: some landscapes only bloom for those willing to get lost. We measure the world with our footsteps and embrace solitude with our souls, achieving a silent growth between every departure and return. Travel is a love letter to oneself, the soul's freest expedition, and the most touching poem in our ordinary days.

Mongolian pot is a traditional cooking style from Inner Mongolia, particularly in areas like Xilin Gol League. It is known for its layered ingredients and rich, savory flavors. During our trip to Duolun County in Xilin Gol, our group of three decided to give it a try. The restaurant is called Niuxiangsui Mongolian Pot. 📍Location: Shop 105, Mingdu Yipin, 110 meters from Duolun Nuoer Hotel. 🍂Environment: The restaurant has two floors; it is spacious, bright, clean, and tidy, with an open kitchen. Free parking is available at the entrance. 👩Service: The owner and staff are very welcoming. As soon as we walked in, they greeted us, showed us to our seats, and served Dianhong black tea, snacks, and four side dishes. These are just two of their four free offerings; tableware and Wuchang rice are also free. They also promise that "all ingredients in this restaurant have 0 additives, and we refuse to use pre-made dishes. We will pay a penalty of 100 times the value for any fake ingredients." Mongolian pot is similar to the copper hot pot we are familiar with, but it evolved from the traditional Mongolian lamb hot pot. We chose the small lamb spine and bone pot (2.5 jin) for 118 yuan, and added a vegetable platter for 25 yuan and a fresh and frozen tofu platter for 10 yuan. The three of us were stuffed, with a total bill of 153 yuan. 🍲Dishes: 1️⃣The ingredients are fresh, using fresh Wuzhumuqin beef and lamb. The meat is tender and has no gamey smell. The lamb spine and bones are stewed until soft and tender. Paired with vegetables, it is a balanced and satisfying meal. Eating meat in big bites really gives you a taste of the Mongolian spirit. Most healthy hot pot vegetables are 10 yuan per plate, which is very affordable. 2️⃣The pot base not only contains lamb spine and bones but also large chunks of white radish. The radish absorbs the soup, making it very soft, flavorful, and delicious. 💰Average cost per person: 51 yuan. Delicious and affordable.

Second stop on our Inner Mongolia trip: checking Agate Mountain off the list! Immersive treasure hunting in the wild—it's seriously addictive😍 Heads down, searching, and constant surprises. My luck was on point, and I found a huge piece of raw agate right away💎! The mountains are filled with stones polished over millions of years. Picking through the raw stones is basically like opening a blind box🎁! The prairie views are so wide and open; hunting for treasure while taking in the mountain scenery—who else gets this kind of joy! 📍Agate Mountain Scenic Area Address: Township Road 314, Duolun County, Xilin Gol League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Opening hours: All year round, 9:00 AM–8:00 PM ⚠️Friendly tips: ✅Be a responsible collector: only pick up loose stones on the surface, do not dig or damage the mountain. ✅Take your trash with you and help protect this treasure trove. ✅Wear sunscreen and watch your step on the rocky paths. Bringing home a one-of-a-kind souvenir from the trip—this kind of happiness is truly irreplaceable🥰

The Duolun Shanxi Guild Hall is the largest and best-preserved complex of Qing Dynasty Shanxi merchant guild hall buildings in Inner Mongolia. First built in the 10th year of the Qianlong reign (1745), it was an important venue for Shanxi merchants in Duolun to gather, discuss business, and enjoy entertainment. It witnessed the history of the Great Tea Road, Zou Xikou, and the Shanxi merchants traveling to Mongolia, and is known as the "commercial port beyond the Great Wall." In 2006, it was listed as a National Key Cultural Relic Protection Unit (the sixth batch). The guild hall was funded and built by merchants from Shanxi. Originally named Fumo Palace, it is also known as the Guandi Temple. It consists of four courtyards, including the main gate, the grand theater, the bell and drum towers, the main hall, side halls, and east and west corridors. 🌈 Highlights: ✅ The architecture centers on the Shanxi style, facing south and arranged along a central axis. About half of the original scale remains. These are ancient brick and wood structures with exquisite brick and wood carvings, making it a rare "living fossil" of Qing Dynasty Shanxi merchant architecture on the grasslands. 👍 Must-see architecture: 1️⃣ Grand Theater/Shuijingtai: Built entirely of square stone blocks, it is "convex" in shape. There are two large red pillars in front of the stage, and the wooden eaves at the four corners are very imposing. Large jars were buried under the stage for sound amplification—a unique feature of ancient architecture—where Shanxi opera was performed in the past. There are only two such stages in the country. 2️⃣ Guandi Main Hall: Dedicated to Guan Yu, Guan Ping, and Zhou Cang, it symbolizes the Shanxi merchants' emphasis on loyalty and integrity. The walls of the side rooms are painted with stories of characters from the Three Kingdoms, which remain relatively intact after more than 200 years. 3️⃣ Small Theater: The VIP area of the Shanxi Guild Hall. The courtyard is spacious and elegant with pleasant scenery. Shanxi merchants would drink tea, play the huqin, sing Shanxi opera, and relax here. 4️⃣ The courtyard houses an exhibition related to the Chahar Anti-Japanese War. After Ji Hongchang led the Chahar Anti-Japanese Allied Army to recapture Duolun in 1933, he held a rally of 10,000 people here to promote resistance against Japan. 🎫 Admission ticket: CNY 40, half price for seniors aged 60 and over 🚗 Transportation: Use navigation 🧭 to drive there for more convenience and speed. Free parking is available at the attraction

Any photo you take is worthy of a Windows desktop wallpaper. 📸 📍Stop 1: Duolun Lake Scenic Area Address: Duolun Lake Scenic Area, Dahekou Township, Duolun County Opening hours: Year-round, 8:30 AM–5:30 PM (last entry at 5:00 PM) Admission: 💰38 The first time I saw Duolun Lake, I was truly stunned! 💙 Under the sunlight, the water is as blue as a giant sapphire. Walking slowly along the lakeside boardwalk, with the wooden bridge extending toward the center of the lake, it feels like your whole being is soothed when you walk on it on a sunny day. 🚶‍♀️ A gentle breeze ripples the water, and the distant trees and mountains layer upon each other like an oil painting. It's a great place to stroll slowly and feel the relaxation of the wind blowing through your hair. 🍃 📍Stop 2: Princess Lake Address: Inside Ulan Butong Ecological Culture Tourism Scenic Area, Hexigten Banner (Open all day) The legend of Princess Lake is beautiful, and its appearance is worthy of the name. 👑 The water is crystal clear. On sunny days, the lake surface is like a mirror, reflecting the blue sky, white clouds, and the trees on the shore. It's so quiet that you won't want to disturb the peace. It's perfect for photos! No filters needed; the original photos are good enough to flood your social media feed. 📷 📍Stop 3: Wild Duck Lake Address: Inside Wucaishan Scenic Area, Ulan Butong Ecological Culture Tourism Scenic Area, Hexigten Banner (Open all day) Wild Duck Lake is hidden within the Wucaishan Scenic Area, and the scenery along the way is spectacular enough on its own! 🦆 You can see wild ducks swimming leisurely on the lake from time to time. The trees and grass by the lake glow with a golden halo in the sunlight. The whole scene is quiet yet vivid, and the pace of life slows down instantly. Just finding a spot to sit and daydream here is pure happiness. 🥹 💡Tips: ✔️ The weather on the grasslands is changeable and the UV rays are strong, so don't be lazy with sunscreen. ✔️ The wooden bridges and boardwalks by the lakes are great spots for photos. I recommend wearing light-colored clothes to stand out. ✔️ The distance between the 3 lakes isn't far. A self-driving trip to visit them all is just right—the pace is relaxed, and it's super chill. There is a classic horse-splashing performance at General Paozi at 6:00 AM; there is an extra charge for front-row seats 2. Ulan Butong tickets are valid for 3 days; Hamaba requires a separate ticket 3. Two essential routes for autumn in Ulan Butong: Beigou for grassland and forest scenery, and Hamaba-Saling River for pastoral and wetland views 4. Grassland weather is full of surprises! You might encounter advection fog on rainy days or early snow when temperatures drop; every view is unique 🏠 Accommodation ❌ Xiaohongshan Village: Convenient location inside the scenic area, but expensive and basic conditions ✅ Duolun Homestays: Best value for money ✅ Saihanba: Affordable prices, sufficient for basic needs ⚠️ Accommodations in Jingpeng Town are in high demand during the National Day holiday, so be sure to book in advance! ⚠️ Important Notes 1. The temperature difference between day and night on the grassland is huge! Temperatures are extremely low in the early morning, so bring a light down jacket, fleece, windbreaker, and gloves to keep your hands warm while taking photos 2. There is no shade throughout the trip and the UV rays are very strong, so be sure to use sun protection regardless of whether it is sunny or rainy 3. Traffic jams in the scenic area are severe during the National Day holiday! Remember to enter the scenic area early in the morning and leave in the afternoon to avoid the evening rush 4. We recommend Aobaotu for sunrise; the rolling hills offer distinct layers

I've personally visited these 4 cities. They help you avoid the massive crowds at popular National Day tourist spots. Each has a unique landscape and a relaxed pace, making them perfect for a slow-paced getaway during the long holiday. Guizhou · Xingyi Avoid the surging crowds at Huangguoshu; this is a hidden karst pastoral paradise in southwestern Guizhou. In Wanfenglin, 20,000 cone-shaped peaks stretch out endlessly. The October fields are fresh and soft. Rent a small e-scooter and cruise slowly along the village roads, where villages, rice paddies, and peaks intertwine—every shot looks like a pastoral landscape masterpiece. Maling River Canyon is known as the "most beautiful scar on Earth." Inside the canyon, rock walls stand tall, and dozens of waterfalls cascade down the cliffs. Hiking trails wind through the mist, and the air is cool and moist. You generally won't encounter long lines during the National Day holiday. The local vibe is authentic. Mutton rice noodles, chicken tangyuan (glutinous rice balls), and luoguo (griddle pot) are must-try specialties—sour, spicy, fresh, and fragrant, all at affordable prices. The overall temperature stays around 20°C, making it comfortable. No need to rush; it's perfect for a leisurely stroll. Fujian · Taining Most tourists flock to Xiamen and Wuyi Mountain, but this small city retains a rare, tranquil Danxia landscape. At Dajin Lake, red cliffs and blue water complement each other. Take a boat ride across the lake, where red mountains stand above the green water. Visit the Ganlu Rock Temple, which is built into the cliffside—the atmosphere is like a landscape painting. At Jiulongtan, you can take a bamboo raft into the deep canyon. Green pools surround red rock walls, and the banks are lush with vegetation. It's quiet and serene during the day, and at night, when the canyon lights turn on, the atmosphere is incredible. The old town of Taining is not overly commercialized, and the old streets are quiet and relaxing. Be sure to try the local Jinhu fish head, nuangu buns, and biyu rolls—authentic Hakka flavors with a unique taste. Shanxi · Jincheng A Taihang treasure overlooked by many travelers, helping you avoid the crowded throngs in Datong and Pingyao. Wangmang Ridge fully displays the majestic spirit of the Taihang Mountains. After autumn arrives, the forests are dyed in red and yellow, and if you're lucky, you can witness a magnificent sunrise over a sea of clouds. The Xiyagou Hanging Road is embedded in the cliffs. Standing on the viewing platform overlooking the rolling mountains, the view is vast and breathtaking. The Huangcheng Chancellor's Mansion is a well-preserved Qing Dynasty castle-style official residence. With high walls and courtyards layered one after another, the heavy, historic charm of the Shanxi merchants hits you. There are few tourists inside, so you can quietly examine the details of the ancient architecture. Local specialties like ligezhua and Jincheng stir-fried jelly are full of flavor, rich with the authentic taste of Northern China. Inner Mongolia · Duolun Right next to the popular Ulan Butong, yet it enjoys a quiet golden autumn in the north all to itself. The 40-kilometer road around Duolun Lake is filled with beautiful scenery. During the National Day holiday, the large birch forests along the shore are dyed golden. The clear blue lake water paired with the golden forest makes for great photos—you can stop anywhere along the way without fighting for a spot. Many wild spots by the lake are free to enter. In the evening, wait for the sunset over the lake; the setting sun dyes the water a warm gold—vast and healing. You can enjoy the autumn forest and feel the vastness of the grassland lakes. Traffic jams are rare during the National Day holiday. You can taste shouba rou (hand-grabbed meat) and dairy products to experience authentic Mongolian flavors.

⏳ Travel time: Aug–Sep, 2 days ✅ Must-dos: Yuan Shangdu Ruins Museum and the Yuan Shangdu ruins are about 4 km apart, not next to each other. The museum sits on an ovoo-topped hill and has a striking design, worth a visit. At the ruins, you can see what the fall of a dynasty erased. Standing on the rammed-earth walls, you can see the remains of the city walls and imagine the moment when Chang Yuchun and Li Wenzhong destroyed Kaiping city. At the site, take the shuttle bus and rent an audio guide. If you come in mid-July, the Jinlianchuan grassland is covered in blooming golden lotus flowers, a brilliant splash of color amid the desolation 👎 Least recommended: Duolun Lake. For someone from the watery towns of Jiangnan, Duolun Lake has neither the soft color of water nor the vastness of an open surface — it's basically a reservoir, and the admission price is very high, so I don't recommend it 🚉 Transportation tips: Driving is best, since the sites are far apart and driving is more convenient 📆 [Itinerary guide] 📆 Itinerary: 🚗 Transportation tips: 🌟 Trip highlights: 💰 Avg. cost per person: 📌 Tips: Huizong Temple and the Shanxi guild hall are worth a look, although the Shanxi guild hall's ticket price doesn't match its actual value. If you want to get a sense of how Duolun looked during the Kangxi–Qianlong heyday, when 4,000+ Shanxi merchants gathered there, come and see. 🍽 Dining recommendations: In Duolun, try the lamb. Any restaurant is a safe bet.

🌈Time: Midsummer 🌈Location: Erdun Aobao 🌈Cost: Free 💙 Erdun Aobao is located directly behind Beizi Temple. It was first built in 1753 (the 18th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty) and was expanded into the Thirteen Aobaos 10 years after the completion of Beizi Temple. 💙 9 is the most sacred and auspicious number for the Mongolian people, representing eternity, vastness, and the Eternal Blue Sky. Erdun Aobao has a total of 171 steps, designed with a "layer upon layer" approach to symbolize supremacy, longevity, and perfection. First, 1 + 7 + 1 = 9; no matter how you calculate it from start to finish, it equals 9. Furthermore, 171 = 19 * 9. "Nine nines return to one" already signifies supreme perfection, and multiplying it by 19 amplifies the auspicious meaning of 9, creating 19 nines to emphasize the highest respect for the Eternal Blue Sky. 💙 The thirteen Aobaos at the top of the hill are lined up, with the largest in the center and the others arranged symmetrically on both sides. The large central Aobao is called "Haorimust Tengger" in Mongolian. It is the head of the thirteen Aobaos, representing the Buddha and the Eternal Blue Sky, signifying dominion over heaven and earth and symbolizing the highest sacred power. In Mongolian culture, 13 represents "completeness, perfection, and holiness" and is often used in rituals. This is because 13 = 1 (Heaven/Buddha) + 3 (Temple) + 9 (Land), representing the complete protection of the trinity of heaven and earth, the temple, and the entire banner. 💙 During the ritual, first circle the large central Aobao, then circle the 13 Aobaos in order clockwise 3 times each, for a total of 39 circles. You can offer Hada, milk wine, stones, candy, and more, praying for favorable weather, prosperous livestock, and long-lasting stability. 💙 There is a stall on the east side of the Aobao that rents out Mongolian costumes, including headwear, robes, and belts. Makeup and photography are not included. A set of clothes costs about 20–30 RMB for half an hour of self-service photography. The stall owner is a sturdy, tough old man with a bit of a temper. If you don't tie up your hair when wearing the headwear, he will argue with you about the requirements for Mongolian attire. He cherishes and loves his ethnic culture very much. It's really great 👍
