The environment is super beautiful, full of academic and natural harmony. I was fortunate to attend a family member's matriculation ceremony and had the opportunity to stay at this unforgettable hotel. Walking into the hotel, the life introductions of the Duke founders and contributing family members are striking, making people feel respectful! The hotel facilities are also worth looking forward to: Golf course: The inn has an 18-hole championship golf course. For you who love golf, this is definitely a rare enjoyment. Imagine swinging on the green golf course, what a comfortable thing! Leisure facilities: The inn also has an indoor swimming pool, hot tub and fitness center, where you can relax and keep energetic. Dining experience: The inn has three restaurants. The Fairview Dining Room restaurant uses locally grown ingredients to cook food, allowing you to taste authentic American flavors. My visit to Sarah P. Duke Gardens was a relaxing and beautiful experience. The garden is divided into several sections, each offering a wonderful diversity of plants, ranging from serene Japanese gardens to spaces filled with colorful flowers. I enjoyed walking along the quiet paths surrounded by various trees and plants, feeling like I was in a natural oasis in the middle of the city. The park also provides comfortable seating for meditation and relaxation, making it ideal for picnics or quiet time. The service was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. It is a perfect place for nature lovers.

North Carolina has a tobacco factory, Lucky Strike. It's called the Tobacco Campus, and it's lit up at night! There's a small museum-like area, but the main attractions are shops and bars! It's nice to go on a nice day, but I recommend going at night when it's lit up! There's a soccer field right next to it, so you can hear the cheers lol Please go and see it! We first met Jeanette last year through a friend's recommendation, bringing along our boys, aged 17 and 20. This time, my partner and I revisited Tenerife as a couple and decided to repeat this excursion, having loved it so much before. This trip once again exceeded expectations. We were lucky to spot both Pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins. The crew, incredibly respectful of the ocean and its creatures, even paused to pick up litter from the water, a thoughtful touch. The Pilot whales gave a remarkable demonstration of communication. The boat stopped, engines off, and everyone silently watched in awe. Only when the whales moved on did the boat follow. Later, a pod of bottlenose dolphins swam alongside, playfully interacting and even brushing against the boat as it moved slowly. It was clear they were relaxed and in no distress. Their movements were delightful to observe, and a crew member provided insightful commentary about them throughout. The crew were friendly and polite, offering narration in English, Spanish, French, and German. The boat also stops near stunning cliffs for a swim. Depending on the boat, you can either jump from the back or use steps lowered at the front. We prefer the smaller boats to be closer to the dolphins and whales, as it feels more intimate than larger options. Some reviews mention pricing concerns, so here’s our positive experience with helpful cost details for clarity: · We booked directly with Jeanette at the harbor for €45 per person, which seems the best price. · This includes soft drinks, beer or sangria, and a ham and cheese baguette (small but sufficient for a snack). · Ice cream is an optional extra for €3—worth it for a tasty treat. · Those needing bus pick-ups may pay a slightly higher rate; it’s worth noting bus travel adds excitement, offering views of the island. · Photos taken as you board are optional, priced at €10 for one or €15 for both. · You can pay €15 extra for a comfortable sunbed, which includes a towel. It was actually our first time trying a traditional English afternoon tea, and we couldn’t have picked a better place for it. 📍 Location: 10, 11 Silver St, Durham DH1 3RB, United Kingdom Silver Street is right in the centre of Durham, just after Framwellgate Bridge and on the way to Durham Market Hall. The café itself is beautiful and incredibly cosy, with soft pastel colours and a charming atmosphere. It’s also very photogenic, if you’re looking for a pretty place to stop for a break. 📸 The service was lovely too, which made the experience even better. ☕ Afternoon Tea for Two — £44 The afternoon tea costs £44 for two people (£22 each), and we thought it was excellent value for money considering how much food you get. And when we say it was a lot… it was a LOT. 😂 We couldn’t finish everything, so we actually took some of it with us for later. The afternoon tea included: 🥪 Sandwiches — with a choice of fillings 🍰 Two cakes — you can choose from the available flavours, including cheese or fruit options 🥧 2 slices of corned beef pie 🥚 2 slices of Quiche ☕ Two hot drinks from their extensive drinks menu Everything was delicious, and it was such a lovely way to end our day exploring Durham. For us, afternoon tea wasn’t just about the food, it was also about trying something we’d never experienced before and enjoying a little piece of British culture before catching our train. 💡 Our tip If you’re visiting Durham and want to try English afternoon tea, we’d definitely recommend giving Treats Cafe & Tea Room a try. Having traveled with LNER and experienced my share of cancellations and poor service, I feel it's only fair to recognize exceptional support when it's provided. On Saturday, 16 May 2026, we arranged Passenger Assistance for my sister, who has Down syndrome and an intellectual disability, for her journey from Peterborough to Durham. I want to highlight the outstanding help from the Peterborough station team, particularly Glen. We arrived early as instructed, and Glen's introduction set the tone for an exceptional experience. He engaged directly with my sister, asked her name, explained things clearly, and ensured she felt comfortable and included. His treatment stood out—he showed dignity, patience, and respect, addressing her directly rather than speaking around her or to the family. Glen carefully outlined the process, discussed the support available, and ensured she understood her journey. He seated her in the priority area, confirmed she was settled, and radioed ahead with her name and seat number so staff could meet her at her destination. As a family, this level of care eased a tremendous amount of anxiety while empowering my sister to travel with greater independence and confidence. I want to personally thank Glen, the Peterborough station team, and the station manager for their thoughtful, human, and professional approach. This wasn't just good customer service—it made a significant impact on someone for whom travel can be overwhelming. LNER should be proud to have staff like Glen.
