Malmaison on the Quayside in Newcastle is truly impressive—relaxed yet chic. Its location beside the Millennium "Squinty" Bridge and overlooking the Baltic Mills gallery makes it ideal for exploring the beautiful city of Newcastle. We stayed in a club suite room (621) with a stunning river view—a living picture that even our little Paddington enjoyed, overlooking Gateshead and the gallery. The spacious room was well-equipped, complete with a coffee machine to kick-start the day. Breakfast was as expected; we went around 9 a.m. and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere with no queues. A special shout-out to our server Tirso, who was always smiling and incredibly kind. The hotel as a whole exuded a laid-back and comfortable vibe, making it a lovely place to stay. Although we didn’t dine at the restaurant due to the great weather luring us elsewhere, it looked inviting as we passed through during breakfast. For its location, comfort, and atmosphere, I’d highly recommend this hotel. Having stayed in Malmaison hotels in London and dined in Glasgow and Edinburgh, I can confirm this Newcastle branch lives up to the brand's reputation. Oh, and the bed was perfectly comfortable, complemented by a bath and a drench showerhead as well. We would definitely return!

I stayed at the Malmaison Newcastle for two nights. My room was spacious and beautifully designed, featuring a nice seating area. The bed was extremely comfortable with high-quality linens, and the modern bathroom included both a soaking tub and a rain shower. Everything was impeccably clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always available if I needed anything. I enjoyed breakfast in the stunning dining room, which had large arched windows overlooking the Quayside. The location was absolutely perfect. The hotel is situated right on the Quayside with incredible views of the River Tyne and is within easy walking distance of restaurants and attractions. One of the unexpected highlights of my trip was watching the Gateshead Millennium Bridge light up at night. I had never seen a bridge like this before and was amazed to learn that it tilts open to let boats pass. I even came back two weeks later to see it open during the day and illuminated again in the evening. (Photos from both stays are included.)

The hotel was fantastic—super clean and comfortable with excellent tea and coffee facilities. The view from our room was stunning. It’s in an excellent location for attending a concert at The Sage/Glasshouse. The buffet-style breakfast was good. Although on-site parking was limited, there’s a secure car park just a few minutes’ walk away. We stayed on a Friday night, and besides a few inconsiderate guests, it was a very peaceful night.
