The new year’s day night

Day 1 Tuesday | Arrival: The Tranquil Frozen Coastline 🌌 At 7:30 AM, the train slowly pulled into Halmstad Station. The sky was still a deep blue-purple✨, and the vintage clock and red brick walls of the station had a natural filter in the morning mist~ The air was sharp like a blade against my cheek, and the weather forecast said it was minus five degrees today❄️ I wrapped myself tightly in an Acne Studios wool scarf, breathing out perfect white mist circles in the air⭕️ 🏨 Check-in at Hotel Continental Halmstad (Address: Stationsgatan 37) The super thoughtful front desk lady handed me a hot glögg: "Welcome to winter wonderland!" The warm Swedish greeting instantly healed my travel fatigue💕 Strolling to the Nissan River, I found a delightful surprise🎁—Picasso’s sculpture "Woman’s Head"! The bronze surface was covered with a frost like sugar glaze, looking like a piece of art in the morning light📸 Sitting on a bench watching locals jog, they were only wearing thin jackets! Is this the Nordic cold resistance gene?🧬 ☕️ Recommended Spot: Lilla Kafferosteriet (Address: Storgatan 32) Their hot chocolate is so thick you can stand a spoon in it! The whipped cream on top looked like fluffy clouds☁️ Sitting by the floor-to-ceiling window watching the snowy street scene, this is the ideal winter morning~ Day 2 Wednesday | Winter Variations of Sea and Forest 🌊 🚌 Take bus 112 straight to Tylösand Beach Who would have thought the summer holiday paradise would be so stunning in winter! Three kilometers of frozen beach all to myself🏖️ The waves froze into crystal artworks in subzero temperatures, breathtakingly beautiful😍 Ran into a hardcore Swedish winter swimming group of grandpas and grandmas🤯 Aunt Anna enthusiastically invited: "Come! Cold water makes us happy!" I touched the water temperature... no thanks🙅♀️ In the afternoon, switched to Galgberget Forest (Hiking tip: wear non-slip boots!) Crunching through fresh snow to the summit, the whole city transformed into a fairy tale snow model🏰 Finally got the joy philosophy of the Swedish "friluftsliv" (outdoor life)! Day 3 Thursday | Warmth of History and Festival 🕯️ 🏰 Private tour of Halmstad Castle (fewer tourists in winter, great for photos!) Hearing my footsteps echo in the 17th-century banquet hall, looking through antique glass windows at the snow-covered garden... what a Nordic epic drama scene!📺 🎄 The Christmas market at the square is open~ The grandma’s glögg hot wine aroma brought tears! The scent of cinnamon and orange instantly chased away the cold☀️ Bought a reindeer wood carving and knitted socks, warmth level +10086💯 🌌 The hotel’s starry sky tour that night was totally worth it! Saw the full panorama of the Milky Way in the countryside🌠 The guide said winter air is clearer, and the Big Dipper shone like a diamond necklace💎 Although my phone shut down from the cold, it was worth the beauty! Day 4 Friday | Winter Solstice: Light in the Longest Night 🕯️ ☀️ Got up early to catch the only 6 hours of daylight Biked along Prince Bethel’s Trail, the colorful fishing village looked like a Christmas card scene🎄 At Fiskehoddorna fish sheds (Address: Kaptensgatan 13), eating freshly caught herring, wrapped in a wool blanket watching the sea... this is the daily life of a Nordic lifestyle lover! 🎨 Mjellby Art Museum (Special exhibition until February next year) A century of folk art + floor-to-ceiling snowy window views = top atmosphere! The café’s hot chocolate saved me three times, I couldn’t bear to leave this stunning window view🖼️ ✨ The grand finale of the St. Lucia Festival was breathtaking! Girls with candle crowns sang ethereal hymns through the darkness, the whole place was so quiet you could hear the snow falling❄️ Suddenly I understood: light is always born in the deepest night~ 💡 Practical Tips: ▪️ Outfit: UNIQLO Heattech three-piece set + Canada Goose = survival formula ▪️ Transport: Hallandstrafiken APP is super accurate for buses ▪️ Must-try: Sauna + ice sea (beginners please choose professional places!) ▪️ Photography: The golden hour at 3 PM is stunning, hurry to the riverbank! #summervacay How did I stumble upon this city, you ask? Well, I passed through Halmstad on a trip to Gothenburg previously and told myself I'd come back to explore when I had the chance. And about half a year later, I actually did! This city is quite small; you can essentially see it all in half a day to a full day. Of course, I feel it's more suited for a leisurely holiday – if you're on vacation, then just go with the flow! 😉 Perhaps because it was a Saturday, there weren't many restaurants open. However, there are still some places to eat in the city center, like Thai food, burgers, etc. It's a good idea to check the opening hours on Google Maps beforehand, though they might not always be perfectly accurate. 😅 After exiting the train station, if you navigate towards the city center, you'll pass by the cathedral and the castle. Halmstad Castle: This 17th-century castle is located by the Nissan River and is a significant landmark of the city. When we visited, the castle wasn't open, so we could only admire it from the outside. The cathedral, however, was open, and they even had their own postcards and cards! 🏰⛪ #Halmstad #Sweden #WestCoastSweden #HiddenGem #TravelSweden #SmallCity
