The elders and kids stayed in the car watching the rain, while my teammates and I braved the rain to take some photos. We returned soaking wet but very satisfied. 🌿 Nalati · pure green After two rainy days in Shata and Kuerdening, we finally had a sunny day. The beauty of Nalati grassland truly makes you want to dance—snow mountains, grasslands, wildflowers, yurts, every photo looks like a Windows desktop wallpaper. Although the horseback riding experience was less than ideal, I still can’t say anything bad about Nalati. Because under the sunshine, Nalati heals all the previous gloom. The grassland is full of lush, rich green, as if nature spilled its entire palette. 🛣️ scenery on the road · a pleasant surprise on S101 national defense highway Our biggest regret this trip was missing the Yizhao Highway and the northern section of the Duku Highway due to heavy rain. To make up for it, we changed our route to drive part of the S101 national defense highway, visiting the Baili Danxia and Kenswater Reservoir. The Danxia landform stretches for hundreds of kilometers, and the reservoir’s blue-green water is especially gentle surrounded by mountains. Hidden in the folds of the Tianshan Mountains is a unique kind of romance—the most beautiful scenery really is on the road. 💡 practical tips tested by a family of five 🌡️ weather and gear Xinjiang’s summer has a huge temperature difference between day and night. Sailimu Lake can be so cold at night that you need floor heating, and the Shata summit is only 8 degrees. Be sure to bring a windbreaker, light down jacket, and thermal underwear. Sunscreen is also essential—the UV rays are extremely strong. A sun/rain umbrella, non-slip shoes, and common medicines are all must-haves. 🎫 about tickets Popular scenic spots have long lines during peak season. It’s best to book tickets in advance to avoid waiting.
