Hidden deep in the mountains of Guizhou is a 600-year-old Ming Dynasty military garrison. It is full of T-junctions, like a maze. An ancient Ming Dynasty town with no crossroads. I really didn't expect to find such a living ancient town hidden deep in the mountains of Guizhou. Longli Ancient Town is in Jinping County. It takes about 3.5 hours to drive there from Guiyang. You can also take the high-speed train to Sansui Station or Kaili South Station, then take a taxi for an hour. General admission is free, but some exhibition halls charge a separate fee. Here are the things that surprised me the most👇 🔸 Not a single crossroads in the whole town It is all T-junctions and alleys. Local elders say this was a Ming Dynasty military design; if enemies broke in, every intersection could be blocked. Walking inside really feels like playing a real-life maze. Even with phone navigation, I got turned around several times. 🔸 Military ranks from hundreds of years ago hidden on door lintels Pay attention to the plaques on every door, like "Kejia Di" (Scholar's Residence) or "Wuju Di" (Martial Arts Graduate's Residence)—they are proof that ancestors were officers. Just chat with any elder, and they can pull out their genealogy and tell you stories about Zhu Yuanzhang's northern troops moving south. They even speak with a Jianghuai accent; it is really startling to hear that in the mountains of Guizhou. 🔸 Centipede Street The centipede pattern paved with cobblestones on Lailong Street is a full 500 meters long. It is a bit uncomfortable to walk on, but very interesting. It is said to be related to a legend about Wu Sangui. You have to ask a local elder to hear the full version. 🔸 Longbiao Academy The cultural legacy left behind when Wang Changling of the Tang Dynasty was demoted here. The academy is the site of a Ming Dynasty government school. The courtyard is quiet and secluded. Wearing light-colored clothes and taking photos in front of the carved wooden windows makes for great pictures. 🔸 Painted Face Dragon (Limited experience) This only happens around the 15th day of the first lunar month. The dragon dancers paint their faces black and red, imitating the appearance of Ming Dynasty garrison soldiers in battle. If you go at other times, you can only watch videos in the museum. The scene is completely different from the gentle dragon dances in the Jiangnan region—it is very wild. Just follow this one-day route👇 Enter the city at Qingyang Gate > Lailong Street > Centipede Street > Longbiao Academy > Tao Family Courtyard > Climb the city wall for a panoramic view > Cool off at the ancient well > Evening stroll in the countryside A walk around the base of the city wall takes about 40 minutes. There is a section of ruined wall at the southeast corner you can climb up to overlook the entire ancient town with its connected blue-tiled roofs. The T-junction alleys crisscross, creating a stunning visual effect. The Tao Family Courtyard is the best-preserved old house in the ancient town. A deep residence from the late Qing Dynasty, its fire walls, courtyards, and carved wooden windows are all exquisite. Sitting on a bamboo chair in the courtyard and listening to the owner tell stories about the northern troops moving south is much more interesting than just looking at the architecture itself. Don't worry too much about food; prices in the ancient town are very friendly. Beef rice noodles are 9 yuan, pork rice noodles are 7 yuan, rice tofu is 5 yuan, and brown sugar ice jelly is also 5 yuan. Yuhe fermented fish is a Jinping specialty—sour, spicy, and with a hint of wine aroma; you should try it. In the evening, there is grilled tofu and fried sticky rice cakes on the street, freshly pounded and fried, coated with soybean flour or spicy powder, for 3 yuan each. A few practical tips👇 Wear flat shoes; it is all cobblestone and stone slab roads, and high heels will make you cry. I recommend hiring a local guide for about 50 yuan; the stories are much more exciting than the architecture. For accommodation, choose a homestay in an old house within the ancient town; the evening after the tourists have left is when Longli is most comfortable. You can combine this with a trip to Zhaoxing Dong Village nearby; comparing Han culture and Dong culture is a completely different experience.

Jinlongli Ancient Town in Southeast Guizhou, a Ming Dynasty military fortress with over 600 years of history! An "island of Han culture" amidst the Miao and Dong villages, it is a product of the Ming Dynasty's "northern troops sent south to garrison the border." It has such deep historical roots~🌟 Walking on the smooth cobblestone paths, looking at the black-tiled, white-walled houses on both sides of the street, amidst the lingering memories of the Miao and Dong villages in Southeast Guizhou, I surprisingly felt the vibe of Jiangnan~ 🏘️The ancient town is completely uncommercialized; who knew free could be this fun! The villagers in the town are super genuine, living in various Ming Dynasty buildings. It is said that they are all descendants of the Ming Dynasty garrison troops, guarding this homeland for generations. Professor Yu Qiuyu even called it an "island of Han culture"~ I originally thought that in such a paradise-like fortress, the toilets would be a bit off-putting... Unexpectedly! The toilets were impeccably clean, with a lotus pond outside the window. Even the doors of the toilet stalls were antique, like those wooden double doors in Western cowboy bars. "Guanxi Di," "Sanhua Di," "Kejia Di"... Each residence is home to descendants of the garrison troops. The plaques on the lintels indicate the family's origin, famous ancestors, and family mottos or achievements. Inside and outside the door, a grandmother and granddaughter enjoy a quiet moment. The grandmother sits on a low stool at the door, stitching shoe soles, while the child inside enjoys the holiday. The scene is so heartwarming~🥰 Tired from walking, I chose a rice tofu shop by the street to take a break. I ordered a portion of sour and refreshing rice tofu, which was light and palate-cleansing! The owner's surname is Wang, and her ancestral home is Shanxi. She told me that families with the same surname in the ancient town share a well. There are still 13 wells today, and the one in front is called Pan Family Well. Eating and chatting, I felt like I had traveled through time~😋 The ancient town is not big; half a day is enough to explore. No noise, only a slow pace of life, worth strolling and experiencing carefully~ Highly recommended for those who like niche ancient villages!

When traveling with kids in the summer, you just want to find a place with clear water, cool temperatures, and few crowds. Located by the Qingshui River, Leitun Village in Dunzhai Town, Jinping, Guizhou, has an average summer temperature of around 25°C. A mountain breeze sweeps away all the summer heat, and you're surrounded by emerald streams and terraced rice paddies. The best part is that there's a unique homestay converted from a century-old house, featuring both deep and shallow swimming pools, and you can step right out the door to wade in the stream. As soon as the kids put down their luggage, they put on their swim rings and dash into the water, while adults can finally slow down their pace among the rice paddies and streams. 📍 [2-day, 1-night relaxing, cool getaway] Day 1: Arrive at Jinping Station by high-speed train and rent a car directly to Leitun Village, Dunzhai Town (about a 30-minute drive). In the afternoon, soak in the homestay's pool while looking at the distant mountains. In the evening, take a 5-minute walk to the village stream to wade in the water, watch the sunset dye the water a warm orange, or head to Taiji Sandbar for an iced Americano and just relax. Day 2: In the morning, take a stroll around the nearby Maoping Ancient Town to see the old docks and historic buildings along the Qingshui River. In the afternoon, return to the homestay for a walk by the rice paddies, or take the kids to catch small fish in the river shallows. Head back home leisurely after you've had your fill of fun. 🏨 [Century-old homestay in the mountains] The homestay we stayed at this time was converted from a century-old house; it looks rustic on the outside but is quite smart on the inside. The courtyard has both deep and shallow pools, so adults and kids can each have their own fun—the kids jumped into the shallow pool as soon as they dropped off their luggage. There's also a cafe right next to the stream in the village. The water in the small river at the entrance is crystal clear, perfect for stepping on stones to wade. When you're tired, order a cold drink and sit by the bank to zone out—it's incredibly healing. 🎯 [Three highlights tested with kids] 🏊 Splash fun by the pool: The homestay's shallow pool is perfect for little ones; it's not deep, but it's great for playing. The kids held small buckets, splashing water with mom and dad, sending water flying everywhere and laughing non-stop. When the weather cools down in the evening, you can also go to the village stream to wade, where the riverbed is full of smooth pebbles. 🌾 Strolling by the rice paddies and lotus ponds: The village has large areas of rice paddies and lotus ponds, and if you go in August or September, you can see the lotus flowers in full bloom. The kids walked along the ridges, reaching out to touch the rice ears. The air was filled with the scent of earth and grass, and the sunset dyed the rice paddies golden yellow. This kind of quiet mountain time is truly rare. 🏡 Exploration in the ancient village: Leitun Village is a provincial-level traditional village that preserves many ancient dwellings from the Ming and Qing dynasties. The kids walked on the stone paths, curiously examining the carved wooden windows and old gate towers, occasionally squatting down to look at wildflowers growing in the corners. A village with this kind of history is much more interesting to explore than typical tourist attractions. 💡 [A few practical tips] The temperature difference between day and night in the mountains is significant, so be sure to pack a light jacket. It's slippery by the stream and pool, so non-slip water shoes are a must. Playing in the water means you'll likely get wet, so bring extra sets of clothes. Bring plenty of mosquito repellent, as there are quite a few bugs in the rice paddies and woods. The homestay doesn't have many rooms, so remember to book in advance during peak season. After this two-day, one-night trip, the whole family was immersed in the coolness of the pool and the greenery of the rice paddies. The kids played until they were completely drained, and the adults were able to fully relax as well. It's truly rare to have such a comfortable and relaxing family time during the summer vacation.

Two Days and One Night in Longli Ancient Town, Guizhou|A 600-Year-Old Military Settlement Hidden Deep in the Mountains When I was planning my trip to Qiandongnan, all I saw were Zhaoxing and Xijiang. By chance, I came across Longli Ancient Town and decided to take a detour with a "let’s see" attitude. Unexpectedly, it became the most delightful stop of the trip. This Ming Dynasty military settlement is open to the public for free, with very few tourists and only a handful of shops along the street. The 600-year-old streets and old houses are preserved in their original state, like a time capsule untouched by disturbance. Day 1: Enter the Village in the Afternoon, Watch the Sunset from the City Tower I took a direct shuttle bus from Jinping for 15 yuan, which took half an hour. The ancient town has no entrance fee, so I entered through the East Gate, Qingyang Gate. First, I filled my stomach at a small family-run shop at the alley entrance. The signature Longli pickled fish is a must-try. The fish meat, marinated in the traditional way with glutinous rice, is firm and tangy, and even the fish bones are crispy enough to chew. Paired with a serving of fern cake stir-fried with cured meat, the sticky fern cake soaks up the meaty aroma. The meal cost about 35 yuan per person and was very satisfying. On the street, an elderly lady sold rice tofu from a cart for 5 yuan a bowl, topped with homemade chili oil. It was sour, spicy, and appetizing, leaving a slight sweat on my forehead after eating. In the afternoon, I wandered along the cobblestone streets. The most fascinating part is the “Three Streets and Six Alleys,” all T-junctions with no cross intersections, a military defense design passed down from the Ming Dynasty. Walking through it felt like entering a natural maze. On both sides, tall Hui-style fireproof walls stood high, with old plaques hanging above the door lintels reading “Ke Jia Di” and “Wu Ju Di,” relics from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Halfway through, I bumped into villagers drying corn at the alley entrance, with bamboo trays spread out full of golden grains. An old lady smiled and handed me a warm fried cake. The Longbiao Academy was quiet and peaceful. It is said that Wang Changling once lectured here. The ancient osmanthus tree in the courtyard was lush, and sitting on the stone bench for a while, even the wind seemed to slow down. The Ecological Museum is free to enter, filled with old farming tools and military settlement artifacts. Taking your time there helps you understand the origins of this town. At dusk, I climbed the ancient city wall to watch the sunset. Outside the wall were vast rice fields, with the wind rolling the waves of rice toward the distance. The sunset dyed the horse-head walls a warm golden color, a hundred times more moving than the artificial scenes in paid ancient towns. At night, I stayed at Longbiao Inn inside the ancient town. The old house was renovated with wooden lattice windows, and stepping out led directly into a deep alley. The owner invited me to drink a bowl of homemade Chongyang wine, sweet and smooth without a hangover. At night, there were only a few street lamps, with lanterns hanging at residents’ doorways. It was so quiet you could hear footsteps, completely free from the noise of other ancient towns. Day 2: Morning Mist Stroll, Return After Lunch I got up early to catch the 7 a.m. morning mist. A few villagers were drawing water by the ancient well, the carrying poles creaking. The smoky firelight mingled with the mist and spread out. I wandered through the alleys to the Tao Family Courtyard, where the wooden carved doors and windows were exquisitely detailed. Flowers and plants grew in the courtyard, and the owner was sitting in the courtyard picking vegetables. Seeing my curiosity, she chatted with me for a long time about the old military settlement stories. For lunch, I ate a farmhouse meal at a villager’s home. The freshly picked water spinach was sweet when stir-fried, and the free-range chicken soup was so delicious I drank two bowls. Before leaving, I bought two jars of pickled fish as souvenirs, which were cheaper and more authentic than those sold at the village entrance. Practical Tips · Transportation: Taking the high-speed train to Jinping Station and then transferring to the shuttle bus is the most convenient. If driving, remember to drive slowly on the winding mountain roads; · Costs: The ancient town is free to visit, with only a few old houses charging a small fee for entry; · Reminders: Many street vendors only accept cash, so it’s recommended to bring around 200 yuan as backup; the temperature difference between morning and night in the mountains is large, so bring a light jacket even in summer; avoid wearing high heels as the cobblestone streets are hard on your feet. The whole trip costs just over 400 yuan per person, with no trendy check-in spots or sales pitches. It’s perfect for those who want to completely escape the hustle and bustle. No need to rush your itinerary—just find a doorstep to sit and daydream, watch the elderly bask in the sun, and children chase and play, and you’ll understand what true slow living means.

⚔️ A 600-Year-Old Military Garrison Ancient City, Fulfill Your Ming Dynasty Dream Many people only spend half a day in Longli before leaving, but I highly recommend you stay overnight — only when night falls and the tourists leave can you truly experience the charm of this Ming Dynasty military garrison ancient city and be a real Ming Dynasty person for a day. 🗓️ 3 Days 2 Nights Time Travel Itinerary Day 1: Arrival + First Impressions of the Ancient City Arrive in Longli in the afternoon. It’s recommended to take the high-speed train to Jinping Station (40 minutes from Guiyang, 48 RMB), then transfer to the tourist shuttle to Longli (15 RMB, 30 minutes). Check into an old house homestay inside the ancient city; open your window to a 600-year-old alley—this feeling of time travel is truly magical. In the evening, stroll along the base of the city wall and watch the sunset cast golden light on the blue tiles, sparkling brilliantly. Walking through alleys without tourists, hearing your footsteps echo on the stone pavement, occasionally meeting children returning from school or villagers carrying loads, who will greet you warmly—this simple human kindness is priceless. At night, participate in the "Thousand Lanterns Blessing" ceremony, holding a lantern with your wish written on it, parading with other tourists and villagers, and finally releasing them together in the square. When hundreds of lanterns light up simultaneously, the entire ancient city is bathed in warm light. At that moment, you’ll realize that the most precious part of travel isn’t the scenery, but these warm moments. Day 2: Deep Time Travel + Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience In the morning, change into Ming Dynasty costumes and start a true time travel journey! First, go to Qingyang Gate to join the "City Opening Ceremony," enter the city with the "Qianhu Official," then follow NPCs through the streets and alleys, participating in interactive storylines like "Grass Market Stall Competition" and "Academy Imperial Exam." You can "take the imperial exam" in the academy; if you become the "top scholar," you’ll receive a silver note reward to spend in the ancient city’s shops—so immersive! At noon, enjoy the military garrison feast—iron pot stewed goose, armor crispy biscuits, and military garrison rice wine—all served with Ming Dynasty utensils and eating methods. It feels like you are a soldier stationed on the frontier, rewarding the troops after a victorious battle. This experience is incredible! In the afternoon, experience the intangible cultural heritage of the painted face dragon opera mask. Find the heritage inheritor, Mr. Tao Bingjun, to personally paint your mask. He will tell you the stories behind each mask: red face Zhao Kuangyin, black face Bao Gong, white face Cao Cao... After painting the mask, wear the Ming Dynasty military uniform and parade through the ancient city. Passersby will look at you with envy and take lots of photos! In the evening, visit Leitun Village to see the century-old granary, relax under the big banyan tree, chat with the elderly, and listen to their stories of the past. Buy a freshly picked watermelon, chill it with well water, sit on the field ridge and eat while watching egrets fly over the rice fields. This slow-paced pastoral life is something you can never find in the city. Day 3: Cultural Depth + Return Sleep in naturally and wander aimlessly around the ancient city. It’s recommended to slowly explore the Longli Ecological Museum, where the artifacts all have stories, and you can understand 600 years of Han, Miao, and Dong cultural integration history. Then visit the three ancient wells to see villagers fetching water, chat with them, and learn about local daily life. At noon, have a farmhouse meal at a villager’s home—free-range chicken, cured meat, wild vegetables—all made from natural ingredients and especially delicious. After the meal, drink tea in the courtyard with the hosts and chat about daily life. This kind of deep local experience is the most meaningful travel. Before leaving, you can buy some Longli pickled fish as a souvenir. It’s the most famous local specialty, traditionally pickled with a unique flavor. Also, local glutinous rice wine is fragrant, sweet, and mellow—perfect for gifts to friends and family. 🎭 Must-Experience Ming Dynasty Life Checklist ✅ Wear Ming Dynasty costumes and parade the streets for immersive time travel ✅ Participate in the "Qianhu Patrol," interact with NPCs ✅ Paint the painted face dragon opera mask, experience intangible cultural heritage ✅ Taste the military garrison feast, feel the soldiers’ life ✅ Join the "Thousand Lanterns Blessing" ceremony and make a wish ✅ Take the imperial exam at the academy, become top scholar and get silver notes ✅ Learn to sing military garrison mountain songs, feel the military culture 💡 Practical Tips 🎫 Tickets: Free! Free! Free! Important things said three times 🚗 Transportation: · High-speed train: Guiyang → Jinping (40 minutes, 48 RMB) → Longli shuttle (15 RMB, 30 minutes) · Self-driving: About 3 hours from Guiyang, good road conditions ⏰ Best Time: April to October; June is very comfortable for summer heat relief; September is the most beautiful when the rice turns golden 📱 Payment: Some small shops only accept cash, recommend bringing 200 RMB cash as backup 📷 Photography: Best light from 7-9 AM, richest scenes of local life 🌿 Blogger’s Honest Thoughts Longli Ancient City is the most special ancient city I’ve ever visited. It’s not a "fake ancient city" built for tourists, but a living, breathing ancient city. The residents here are not actors; they are descendants of Ming Dynasty military households who have lived here for generations. They speak the Jiangnan Mandarin of 600 years ago and maintain Ming Dynasty living customs. Here, you won’t see cookie-cutter trendy shops, hear deafening bar music, or encounter hawkers. What you will see is the 600-year-old unchanged street layout, simple and warm villagers, and an extremely slow pace of life. If you are tired of commercialized ancient towns, want a quiet place to stay for a few days, or dream of traveling back to ancient times, come to Longli. This 600-year-old military garrison ancient city hidden deep in the mountains of Guizhou will surely surprise you. · -- Accommodation 🏨 Longxi Renjia Homestay Located on Jiangjia Alley on the south side of the ancient city, a special homestay carefully created by an old resident named Xia. The owner has a deep affection for the ancient city’s history and culture, making it feel like staying at an old friend’s home. 🏨 Longbiao Inn Superb location, elegant and rustic wooden decor, courtyard full of ancient charm, suitable for families or couples, excellent value for money. 🏨 Shijing Border Guard Courtyard Homestay A themed homestay to experience the life of ordinary military households, feel the neighborhood warmth of Ming Dynasty military families, immersive military garrison culture experience, unique and meaningful. 🏨 Daifu Residence Homestay Converted from a Qing Dynasty doctor’s old residence, preserving the original architectural layout and wood carvings, full of antique charm, a unique experience living inside a cultural relic.

🏯 The most underrated ancient city in Guizhou! 100 times quieter than Fenghuang When Fenghuang and Lijiang are overcrowded, I found a 600-year-old Ming Dynasty military garrison ancient city hidden in Qiandongnan, Guizhou — Longli. Here, there’s no commercial hustle, no noisy bars, only well-preserved Ming and Qing architecture, simple villagers, and a cool 24℃ summer. 🐢 Ancient City Exploration|The Wisdom of a Ming Dynasty Military Fortress ✅ Morning: A Leisurely Walk Along the City Wall Base Longli Ancient City is a rare "turtle-back shaped" fortress. Walking around the base of the city wall takes about 40 minutes. You’ll see inscriptions carved on the bricks — these are the "responsibility inscriptions" left by the soldiers who built the city. Each brick has a person responsible for it, which is the secret to why it hasn’t collapsed in 600 years! Climb a small section of the ruined wall at the southeast corner to overlook the entire ancient city: blue tiles stretch like a chessboard, and 72 T-shaped streets form a maze. That’s right! Longli only has T-junctions, no crossroads — a Ming Dynasty military design: if enemies break in, every intersection can "close the door and fight the enemy." I got dizzy even with a map, like playing a real-life maze game — so much fun! ✅ Late Morning: Deep Dive into Military Garrison Culture Enter from Qingyang Gate (East Gate) and stroll along Laolong Street. The cobblestone "Centipede Street" is stunning! The 500-meter-long cobblestone centipede pattern is said to be related to the legend of Wu Sangui. Find a local elder to tell you the story — it’s fascinating. Visit Longbiao Academy — tracing the footsteps of Tang Dynasty poet Wang Changling. This Ming Dynasty official school site still carries the fragrance of books. Wearing Hanfu and taking photos in the courtyard is absolutely beautiful. You can also join the "Recite Ancient Poems to Win Silver Tickets" activity, which kids love. The academy also has intangible cultural heritage inheritors painting colorful dragon masks live, mixing pigments from realgar, cinnabar, and pine soot ink, painting the "dragon’s eyes" on camphor wood masks — after painting, they circle the ancestral hall incense burner three times to "awaken the spirit," full of ritual! Tao Family Courtyard is the most beautiful old residence in the ancient city! A late Qing Dynasty deep courtyard with towering firewalls, blue stone slab courtyards, and intricately carved wooden windows — elegant and exquisite. The courtyard is rustic and tranquil. Wearing Hanfu or light-colored clothes makes for very charming photos. Sitting on a bamboo chair in the courtyard, listening to the owner tell the 600-year history of "adjusting north and conquering south," you’ll understand the past and present of this ancient city. ✅ Afternoon: Cool Off at Ancient Wells + Museum Visit From 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, when the temperature is highest, hide out at the three ancient wells to cool off! The most magical is Longbiao Well, where the rope marks on the stone edge form 21 spiral rings — each ring represents a generation, so 21 rings mark 21 generations of time. The well water is cool and sweet; in summer, ice-cold watermelon and drinks taste especially good here. Visit Longli Ecological Museum — one of Guizhou’s four major ecological museums, free to enter. It houses Ming Dynasty military garrison artifacts, traditional farming tools, and folk relics. A slow stroll here lets you understand 600 years of Han, Miao, and Dong cultural fusion history. The museum is very quiet, with no noisy tour groups, only echoes of history — peaceful and profound. ✅ Evening: Immersive Ming Dynasty Experience After 5:00 PM, the ancient city’s immersive performances begin! Local residents play merchants and craftsmen roaming the streets, with scenes like "Grass Market Stall Competition" and "Academy Imperial Exam" presented in rotation. Visitors can change costumes and join the "Thousand Households Patrol," interacting with NPCs to advance the story — it really feels like traveling back to the Ming Dynasty! The highlight is the "Thousand Lanterns Blessing" ceremony — at night on Centipede Street, everyone holds a lantern with their wish written on it, parading through the ancient city, and finally releasing them together in the square. When the lanterns light up, the whole ancient city is bathed in warm light — this ritual is deeply moving. 🎭 Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience|The Legend of the Colorful Face Dragon Longli’s Colorful Face Dragon is a national intangible cultural heritage, unique in the country! The dragon dancers paint exaggerated facial makeup: red faces represent loyalty and bravery, black faces represent integrity. The tradition is said to originate from the story of Song Taizu Zhao Kuangyin’s grand banquet with his ministers. If you’re lucky to catch a festival, be sure to watch an authentic performance. When there’s no show, you can find intangible cultural heritage inheritor Teacher Tao Bingjun to paint your face with makeup, experiencing 13 classic characters including Zhao Kuangyin. After painting the colorful face and wearing Ming Dynasty military uniforms, taking photos in the ancient city will definitely make your social media stand out! 🌾 Nearby Cool Secret Spots 📍 Leitu Village Century-Old Granary A 10-minute walk away, an old man still dries glutinous rice the traditional way. The big banyan tree at the village entrance is very cool. Buy a freshly picked watermelon, relax under the banyan tree eating it, and watch egrets fly over the rice fields — this pastoral life is so healing. 📍 Rice Field Fishing (Rainy Season Only) In June’s rainy season, book rice field fishing with the homestay host. Kids can enjoy the fun of fishing in muddy water. The fish you catch can be cooked by the homestay — eating fish you caught yourself tastes especially delicious. 📍 Longli Lotus Pond Outside the ancient city lies a hundred-acre lotus pond. The hidden hotel that my friends raved about definitely did not disappoint! This Jianglu villa located in Leitun Village, Jinping perfectly embodies the slow living philosophy of "farming and studying to pass down the family legacy." The Chinese-style architecture harmonizes beautifully with the natural scenery, making it especially suitable for those wanting to escape the city~ ✨Accommodation Experience: The panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows frame the bamboo forest and mountain scenery like a natural painting. My favorite is the wooden cantilevered viewing platform in the room, like a secret base floating among the treetops (a must-check-in spot!). On rainy days, brew a pot of tea and watch the mist swirl; on sunny evenings, wait for the sunset to dye the white walls honey-colored. Every moment is as beautiful as a movie scene. 🍲Taste Surprises: The sour soup beef hotpot is a must-try! Local yellow beef paired with a secret recipe red sour soup instantly awakens your taste buds with its sour, spicy, and fresh flavors. The freshly made rice noodles and sticky rice cakes for breakfast are also highly recommended, with ingredients sourced from villagers' seasonal produce. 🎋Local Activities: · Pick mushrooms in the back mountain with the housekeeper early in the morning (available June to September) · Listen to ancient legends told by Miao grandmothers while brewing tea around the stove · For photos at the infinity pool, choose early morning when the water reflects the distant mountains · A 10-minute walk takes you to the ancient Leitun village, where the bluestone paths are full of charm Time here seems to be nourished by the mountains and forests, moving so slowly you can hear the rice ears growing. If urban life is a fast-forwarded short video, Jianglu is a long take that makes you pause and catch your breath.

Nestled in the ancient village of Leitun in Jinping County, southeastern Guizhou, the village is surrounded by vast rice paddies, with a clear stream meandering through its lanes. Jianglu·Gengdu Villa, rooted in a Buyi village with over 600 years of history, blends rural life with scholarly elegance, taking the culture of farming and scholarship as its foundation. It offers a tranquil retreat from the city's hustle and bustle, a secluded haven of peace and quiet. The hotel is a renovated and restored century-old Buyi house, preserving the rustic charm of its rammed earth walls, blue-tiled roofs, and fir wood structure, continuing the traditional stilted building style. At the same time, it incorporates a minimalist modern design, with wooden furnishings and floor-to-ceiling windows, seamlessly connecting the old and new. The old house exudes the warmth of time, while the modern design prioritizes comfort. The entire building grows along the terrain, creating a rustic and warm ambiance, full of relaxation. Stepping into the courtyard, a winding cobblestone path meanders through the space, interspersed with lush greenery and shaded by old trees. Vintage stone mills and antique objects add a touch of rustic charm. The communal reading area boasts a rich collection, with a wall of books creating a vibrant atmosphere. On sunny days, sunlight streams into the courtyard, casting dappled shadows, accompanied by the gentle rustling of the wind through the rice paddies. Sitting quietly, browsing books and sipping tea, one can naturally slow down the pace of life. The guest rooms are all private, with most featuring a private terrace or courtyard. The interiors retain the original wall textures, paired with warm wooden furniture, creating a simple and rustic style. Panoramic windows offer direct views of the surrounding countryside, with rice paddies, streams, and distant mountains unfolding in layers. Stepping outside reveals a verdant vista. In the morning, a light mist drifts over the fields, enveloping the village. Some rooms include a private hot spring with a view, allowing you to relax, soak in the hot spring, and enjoy the scenery while feeling the gentle breeze, shedding all your fatigue and immersing yourself in the tranquility of the countryside. The accommodations are meticulously designed, with soft, comfortable bedding, fully equipped bathroom facilities, and warm lighting paired with rustic furnishings, creating a simple yet sophisticated ambiance. The minibar is fully equipped, and the subtle scent of herbs and woods adds to the tranquility and comfort of this rural retreat away from the city. As night falls, the ancient village quiets down, leaving only the gentle sounds of grass, trees, and streams. Warm lights illuminate the courtyard, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant uses fresh vegetables from local gardens and mountain delicacies, offering authentic sour fish soup, cured mountain meat, and specialty Dong-style oil tea—all authentic flavors of southeastern Guizhou. The ingredients are natural and simple, bursting with the flavors of rural life. A stay at Jinping Jianglu·Gengdudi is more than just a short trip; it's a tranquil journey back to nature. Guarding a rice paddy, accompanied by the fragrance of books, amidst mountains, rivers, and ancient villages, one can put aside restlessness and feel the leisurely pace of farming and reading. In the smoke and fire of the mountains, one can rediscover inner peace and freedom.

Dear family!! ⚠️ Please, big data, make sure to push this article to sisters tired of the city noise and wanting to "cultivate immortality" in the mountains! I was truly amazed by this hidden gem in Qiandongnan! Hidden in Leitun Village, Jinping County, the 【Craftsman’s Villa · Gengdu Villa】 is literally a real-life paradise! 🌌 📍 Location: Leitun Village, Jinping County, Qiandongnan, Guizhou (🚗 Recommended to drive, or take the high-speed train to Congjiang Station, then drive for 1 hour— the scenery along the way will move you to tears!) 🏡 First Impression · The Rebirth of a Century-Old House Before even entering, I was captivated by the traditional residence with its green tiles, white walls, and upturned eaves! This was originally a Ming Dynasty old house. The Craftsman’s Villa team didn’t demolish and rebuild but preserved the traces of time and family memories using traditional construction methods, opening the mountain gate sealed by time. Opening the creaky wooden door feels like traveling through time, yet what greets you is modern comfort and aesthetics. This "collision of old and new" is incredibly powerful! 🛏 Dream Stay · A Haven for Detail Lovers The guesthouse has only 10 rooms, focusing on privacy and refinement! I stayed in a room with a terrace, overlooking endless rice fields and distant mountains—it truly feels like living inside a landscape. The best part is the thoughtful amenities! It’s a "detail lover’s" dream in the guesthouse world 😭: ✨ Serta mattress + Hansgrohe bathroom fixtures, toiletries by Apellis (a niche luxury brand!) ✨ Marshall speakers, mini bar fridge, and even VIP membership on the TV! A dream for binge-watchers! ✨ The room carries a faint scent of wood, unique to old houses, super soothing~ 🍽 Dining · From Breakfast to Goodnight Desserts The food here is worth staying for! 🍜 Breakfast is served until 1:00 PM! Perfect for lazy folks, just go straight for brunch~ 🥘 For main meals, you must try the authentic Qiandongnan sour soup (sour soup beef/fish are both amazing!), with ingredients sourced directly from local villagers, super fresh! 🌙 Every night there’s a different complimentary goodnight dessert. After a day of fun, coming back to a warm bowl of sweet soup is heartwarming! 🎈 Fun in the Countryside · Something New Every Day Don’t think the village is boring! This place is like a spa for the soul: 🏊 Outdoor pool: At dusk, watching the sunset glow on the pool and water surface is stunning! Though it’s a bit chilly in autumn, seeing the cleaning robot "huffing and puffing" in the pool somehow feels reassuring. 📽 The common area has a home theater, continuously playing "My Altay," setting the perfect vibe! ✂️ Daily different handicraft activities like making intangible cultural heritage lacquer fans and painting kites—never boring. 🐈 The guesthouse also has two super cute cats, and they’ll even give you cat treats to feed them~ 🌾 Nearby Exploration · Taiji Sandbar Just a 7-minute walk to "Taiji Sandbar"! It’s a natural lawn surrounded by river water. Bring the picnic mat and fruit basket prepared by the guesthouse, go wade in the river, daydream, or camp out—time feels like it stands still. 🍃 ✨ A Little Pride I heard this place was just awarded the "Gold Mountain Level" guesthouse in Guizhou Province (the highest honor in the province!), a truly official certification of high quality! 🎉 🌟 Summary: If you want a place to love, live, and feel the breeze and moonlight, this is the place. 💤 Today, do you also want to wake up in these rice fields?

Friends! If you are tired of the monotonous Jiangnan ancient towns, come to the mountains of Guizhou and discover this hidden gem—Longli Ancient Town! Here, there are no commercialized shops bombarding you, only descendants of Ming Dynasty soldiers, with accents and customs unchanged for 600 years, and a living "Han culture island"! 📍 How to get there? 📍 Longli Township, Jinping County, Qiandongnan, Guizhou 🚗 Recommended to drive (about 3.5 hours from Guiyang) 🚄 Take the high-speed train to "Sansui Station" or "Kaili South Station," then a 1-hour taxi ride 🎫 Free admission! (Some exhibition halls require a small fee) 🌟 Three must-experiences: Evidence of traveling back to the Ming Dynasty 1️⃣ Maze Bagua Formation! T-shaped intersections to prevent assassins As soon as you enter the ancient city, you’ll be amazed—only T-shaped intersections, no cross intersections! The locals say this is a Ming Dynasty military design: if enemies break in, every intersection can "close the door and fight back." I got dizzy even with a map, like playing a real-life maze game! 📸 Be sure to take photos from the city wall, overlooking the blue-tiled roofs like a chessboard—truly breathtaking! 2️⃣ Every door lintel hides a "military rank code" Look closely at the door plaques! "Ke Jia Di," "Wu Ju Di"... all proofs that ancestors were military officers. Knock on any door, and the elders can pull out the genealogy: "We are descendants of the troops sent by Zhu Yuanzhang to guard the border!" Their speech still carries the Jianghuai Mandarin accent, which sounds like a time warp in the Guizhou mountains! 3️⃣ Every year in the first lunar month, the whole town paints faces and dances the dragon! That's right! Longli’s "Painted Face Dragon" is unique—the dragon dancers paint black and red faces, imitating the military attire of Ming garrison soldiers. I missed it in February, but the museum videos show a wild scene! Unlike the gentle dragon dances of Jiangnan, this is a fierce continuation of the military garrison’s martial spirit! 🍜 What to eat? Longli pickled fish: marinated with glutinous rice, sour, spicy, and with a hint of wine aroma—one bite is intoxicating! Rice tofu: sold by street grandmas pushing carts, drizzled with chili oil—absolutely delicious Chongyang wine: homemade by every family, sweet rice wine taste with a strong aftereffect~ 📸 Photo tips East Gate city tower at dawn: shoot the alleys in the mist, the light and shadow are stunning Embroidery building in the Tao family courtyard: wooden carved flower windows as foreground, creating a deep boudoir atmosphere City wall by the rice fields: summer rice waves + ancient city wall, full of pastoral epic feeling 💡 Travel tips ✅ Be sure to hire a local guide (around 50 yuan), the stories are ten times more exciting than just looking at buildings! ✅ Stay in a guesthouse inside the ancient city; when tourists leave at dusk, you instantly return to Ming Dynasty alleys ✅ Nearby you can visit Zhaoxing Dong Village to experience the ultimate collision of Han and Dong cultures Walking on the bluestone road, suddenly hearing Peking opera-style "Han opera" from inside a house—this entertainment brought by Ming military has been sung in the deep southwest mountains for six hundred years. Time here seems locked by the city walls, untouched by commercialization, with only grandmas washing clothes by the well and children chasing under the drum tower. While other ancient towns sell Yiwu goods, here they sell genealogy memories. Do you know any other "ancient towns forgotten by time"? Please recommend! 👇
