Located at No. 8 Wenmiao Street in the southeast corner of Juye County, Juye Confucian Temple was first built during the Song and Jin dynasties as a place to worship Confucius, the founder of Confucianism. The existing main building, Dacheng Hall, dates back to the Ming Dynasty. Originally located north of the city, it was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt due to flooding from the Yellow River. In the 15th year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty (1382), County Magistrate Lü Rang relocated it to its current site. Through continuous renovations and expansions during the Ming (Yongle, Zhengtong, Chenghua, and Zhengde reigns) and Qing (Kangxi and Qianlong reigns) dynasties, it reached a grand scale by the 41st year of the Kangxi reign (1702), covering over 30 mu with 5 courtyards and east and west side courtyards, featuring over 70 structures including halls, pavilions, towers, rooms, corridors, kiosks, and archways. Modeled after the Dacheng Hall of the Confucius Temple in Qufu, the hall faces south and stands 13.7 meters tall. #europetrip The Julius Caesar exhibition is... more like giving a history lesson alongside some not-so-extraordinary objects of the SPQR. There is a lot to hear with the audio guide and the texts are well-formed. But sadly there aren't many good antiques to see actually. The objects are mediocre, some not really relevant to Caesar in particular, and are mostly lumped in glass shelves that kills the aesthetics. If you haven't known a lot about Caesar you may find it very educative; but for me l've known enough about him, and this exhibition then becomes quite dull.
