In August 2025, I ventured into a world at an altitude of 2,612m 🏔️✨ I had the best mountain trip, staying above the clouds. Climbing Mount Kiso-Komagatake requires preparation. ⸻ 🚗 The night before, I slept in my car at the Suganodai Bus Center. Early in the morning, I took a bus to Shirabidaira. → Then, I took the ropeway straight up to an altitude of 2,612m. The moment I arrived, it was a different world. The parking lot can fill up quickly, so you need to go early. ⸻ ⛰️【Climbing Start】7:30 The stage is Senjojiki Cirque. ▶Time Schedule 9. 00 Mount Nakadake Summit 10. 00 Mount Kiso-Komagatake Summit The feeling of liberation the moment I reached the ridge, and the 360° panoramic view... This is truly the Alps. I even saw a ptarmigan along the way. ⸻ 🍛On the way down, we had a curry lunch at the mountaintop lodge. Curry tastes especially good when eaten in the mountains. ⸻ 🏨Around 13:00, we arrived at Hotel Senjojiki. We took a break with a hot dog, checked in, and took a bath. Afterwards, we leisurely strolled around the hotel. ⸻ 🌙At night, we were greeted by a sky full of stars. We were moved by the number of stars, a level you can't see in the city. ⸻ ☀️The next morning, we saw a sea of ​​clouds. It was such a spectacular view that you could say we came here just to see it. After breakfast, we descended by ropeway. 📍Location ・Located in Nagano Prefecture, in the Central Alps, the main peak of the Kiso Mountain Range, 'Mount Kisokoma'! 🚗Access At the base, there is a parking lot where you can take a bus and then a ropeway to start your hike. Senjojiki Cirque is located at an altitude of 2,912 meters, directly below Mount Hoken in the Central Alps. From Shirabidaira at the base of the mountain, you can take a ropeway to the Yaguchi 900 meters in just 450 seconds. Inside the cirque, there is a walking trail just before the hiking trails to Mount Hoken and Mount Kisokoma, so you can enjoy the various seasonal scenery even in light clothing. Senjojiki Cirque spreads out beneath the rock face of the alpine zone at an altitude of over 2,500m. A cirque is a bowl-shaped formation carved out by ice during the glacial period. I visited in late July. I stopped by Komagatake Service Area on my way to Yamanashi Prefecture. It was my first time there, and it didn't seem very large. Still, there was a dog run, and it was fun to look for souvenirs, such as fresh vegetables from the area and walnut soba. There were many rare items that you won't find at other SAs. 📍 Mars Komagatake Distillery | Miyada Village, Nagano Prefecture Located at the foot of the Central Alps, this is the birthplace of "Single Malt Komagatake," nurtured by pristine air and abundant pure water. 🌿 Copper pot stills gleaming brightly, wooden barrels resting quietly, and a visitor center filled with the comforting scent of wood. It was a place where you could slowly take in the time it takes to craft a single bottle of whisky. At the on-site bar, you can also enjoy distillery-exclusive bottles and paid tastings. 🥃 On this day, I visited as part of a VIP tour hosted by Rubin's Base, a whisky bar in Nagoya I mentioned in another post. We managed to tour the distillation facilities just before the visiting hours ended! 🏃 We entered through the back entrance of the distillery from the campsite across the river, offering a different view from the standard parking lot entrance. 🌳 The clear stream flowing nearby and the view of the Central Alps are absolutely spectacular. Realizing that this abundant water is the very source of their whisky made me truly appreciate its importance. Rather than rushing through tourist spots, it turns into a day where you can "savor time itself." Japan 🇯🇵 Komagane City, Nagano Prefecture I visited Meijitei, a famous restaurant in Komagane, Nagano, where you "can't leave without trying this!" 🥢✨ I had Komagane's specialty, the sauce katsudon (pork cutlet rice bowl)... and in a word, it was unfairly amazing! 😳 The pork cutlet was so generously overflowing that the lid wouldn't close, making a huge impact the moment you saw it. With the first bite, the light, crispy texture of the batter was followed by the rich flavor of the meat and the sweet and savory secret sauce...🤤🍖 And this sauce was absolutely exquisite. It was rich but not too heavy, and its perfection in bringing together the crisp cabbage and fluffy rice is truly befitting of a famous restaurant. 👏 Before I knew it, I had finished it in silence...it was that immersive. This was a place I definitely wanted to visit when I came to Komagane. Mount Hoshosan Kozenji Temple emerges deep in the cedar grove. The air was so quiet, even a deep breath seemed to calm my mind. This temple is famous for the legend of the "Spirit Dog Hayataro" that is passed down within its grounds. The story goes that about 700 years ago, Hayataro, a strong mountain dog kept at Kozenji Temple, rescued a human sacrifice at Mitsuke Tenjin Shrine in Enshu (present-day Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture).  The grounds are filled with information boards and statues related to Hayataro, and it was wonderful to walk through the "scene of the story" while taking photos. ⸻ Highlights (including photo spots!) · Approach to the main hall: Straight stone pavement and the impressive, tall cedar trees. It's lovely to hear the only sound you can hear: birdsong. · Sanmon Gate (Niomon Gate): Passing through the gate immediately gives you a sense of "confines." It's the perfect place to kick off your journey. · Three-story Pagoda and Pond: The reflection of the pagoda on the water's surface is picturesque! The moist moss and small stream make you want to gaze at it forever. · Sacred Dog Hayataro: The wooden carved Hayataro statue and information board suddenly make the legend seem more real. ⸻ Seasonal Enjoyments · The temple is also famous for its weeping cherry blossoms and luminous moss. The luminous moss can only be seen during a limited period, from mid-April to late October (it cannot be seen outside of these periods). Mt Kiso Komagatake is situated at Sensojiki Cirque and it’s a beginner hiking route in summer which requires about 4 hours hike (return) . It is a very popular hike in Summer as you get to see the neighbouring Japan alps clearly in the summit. In winter, Mt Kiso turned into a slightly technical mountain to submit. Ice axe, and crampons are required. Good weather is definitely important. There is also chances of avalanche incident. Therefore it is important to check the weather forecast before attempting this mountain. ⛰️

I went to "Cafe Garo" in Komagane City, Nagano Prefecture (((((((っ･ω･)っ A Komagane sauce cutlet bowl restaurant that appeared briefly in "Laid-Back Camp" ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶ It was very popular, and I waited about an hour (;-_-) I ordered a #sauce cutlet bowl (o･ω-人) I was surprised when the sauce cutlet bowl was brought to me Σ( °-° )Wow The cabbage is on top of the rice, and four sauce cutlets stand tall on top of it ♡Kyaa (∀〃(〃∀)Kyaaa♡ The lid is already closed Apparently there are two bowls of rice.
