📍New opening in Linxiang | Honest, non-sponsored review of the new casual eatery Finally checked out this newly opened casual eatery! The storefront is spacious and clean, and the atmosphere is great. 🦐 Salted egg yolk shrimp ⭐⭐⭐ Shrimp deep-fried with salted egg yolk. I don't usually like fried shrimp, but this was surprisingly not greasy. It looked great when served! It has a sour flavor. As someone who loves sour food, I liked it—it's amazing with rice. 🧄 Garlic shrimp ⭐⭐⭐ The garlic aroma is strong, but unfortunately, the flavor didn't penetrate the shrimp meat. I recommend peeling the shell and dipping it in the sauce for better flavor. 🍍 Stir-fried clams with pineapple ⭐⭐ The pineapple is sweet, sour, and refreshing, but the clams were flavorless and even a bit fishy. I suspect the ingredients weren't prepped properly—be careful ordering this dish! 🍗 Boneless chicken leg ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommended! It's so satisfying to eat big bites of meat off the bone. Perfect for kids and friends who love eating big mouthfuls of meat. It has a good chew, but the seasoning is a bit bland and lacks saltiness. The size is just right, and it has a natural milky aroma, though it's a little greasy. It would taste better if it were grilled a bit crispier. The meat is a bit tough; it was probably grilled for too long. It lacks that tender, juicy texture. 💡 Summary The environment is a huge plus, and the creative dishes are very distinctive. Some dishes still have room for improvement in seasoning. It's worth keeping an eye on this new spot; I hope the kitchen makes some adjustments!

Footwear · Main Gear: Non-slip hiking boots/trekking shoes (lots of loose rocks on mountain trails, essential for slip resistance and preventing ankle sprains) · Backup Gear: Sandals/river sandals (specifically for water activities, to avoid getting your shoes wet and stuffy) 2. Clothing Prioritize quick-drying clothes! The mountain forests are damp, and you'll easily get wet while playing in the water, so be sure to bring a full set of changes of clothes to change into immediately after getting out of the water to avoid catching a cold. We recommend wearing white, light blue, or bright colors to complement the mountain scenery and waterfalls; they'll look great in photos. 3. Protective Gear There are tons of mosquitoes and insects in the mountains, so insect repellent and anti-itch drops are essential. You can also bring a few band-aids and trekking poles for slip resistance on loose rocks, to cut grass to repel insects, and to enhance your hiking safety. 4. Supplies There are no shops or supply points along this entire mountain route! Be sure to bring plenty of drinking water, electrolyte drinks, and simple snacks. ⚠️ Important Notes 1. Safety First: When wading and playing in the stream, prioritize walking on stable rocks. Do not step into deep water or climb slippery rock faces. Children must be held hand-in-hand and supervised at all times. 2. Signal Reminder: Cell phone signal is weak in some sections of the mountain area. It is recommended to download offline maps in advance and to travel in groups for safety. 3. Leave No Trace Outdoors: Protect the beauty of the mountains and fields. Take all your trash with you and do not damage vegetation or pollute the streams. 4. Travel Recommendation: Departing on a sunny morning is best, as the temperature is suitable and the light is soft, providing the best experience for water activities and hiking. ✨ Summary: This is a treasure trove of a route that combines escaping the heat, playing in the water, taking photos, light hiking, and family fun! No strenuous uphill climbs, the scenery unfolds layer by layer, allowing you to immerse yourself in nature while easily reaching the summit of Wujian Mountain. Immersed in work all day, our interactions mostly revolve around tasks. Though we see each other daily, we rarely get the chance to let our hair down and chat freely, leaving a faint workplace barrier between us. For this team-building retreat, we escaped the crowded tourist hotspots and ventured into the ancient village of Meichi, nestled deep within Mount Longjiao. We slowed down amidst the mountain charm of the ancient Yao Qianjiadong ruins, allowing ourselves to slowly bond in the tranquility of nature. Dating back to the Tang and Song dynasties, this ancient village was an early settlement for the Yao ancestors and the birthplace of the Wengqin Opera of northern Hunan. Old rammed-earth houses dot the landscape along the mountain streams, while winding bluestone paths lead deep into the lush forest. Ancient stages and ancestral altars stand in silent tribute, seamlessly blending ancient Yao culture with the rustic traditions of northern Hunan. With streams winding through the village and vibrant bamboo groves, the area is free from commercial street shops and tourist crowds, preserving the countryside's most authentic and pristine charm. Upon arriving, everyone shed their workplace labels, leaving behind professional tension and formality to embark on a relaxed and carefree team excursion. We strolled together along the ancient paths by the streams, teamed up to explore historical ruins, took candid photos of our playful moments, and chatted about everyday life outside of work. Usually quiet colleagues gradually opened up, and even the most composed seniors revealed a playful, laid-back side. When navigating slippery stone steps, the more energetic team members naturally slowed down to wait, while the attentive ones constantly pointed out tricky spots. No one rushed ahead alone; everyone looked out for one another. Sitting leisurely under an ancient tree, we listened to tales of the ancestors' migrations and the heritage of the local opera. With the mountain breeze brushing past, our defenses slowly melted away. The stiff distance vanished with the wind, allowing us to see the genuine, softer sides of one another beyond our work personas. A great team not only strives together with a shared purpose at work but also enjoys each other's company with ease during downtime. This countryside getaway served as a gentle bridge, drawing our hearts closer. Moving forward, we will carry this harmonious bond with us, united in spirit as we embrace every beautiful journey ahead.

Caught up in the daily grind, our conversations mostly revolve around work. Even though we see each other and work together every day, we rarely get the chance to let our hair down and chat freely, leaving a subtle workplace barrier between us. For this team-building trip, we escaped the crowded tourist hot spots and ventured into Quanbei Ancient Village on the south bank of the Yangtze River. Slowing down our pace amidst the ancient charm of the Chu-Hubei border, we allowed ourselves to naturally grow closer in the laid-back countryside. Built during the Ming Dynasty, this ancient village once guarded the overland post road between Hunan and Hubei. Traditional blue-brick courtyard homes line the banks of the Quan Stream, while granite-paved ancient alleys weave through the village. The Grand Ancestral Hall and the ruins of the ancient spring weir quietly remain, serving as a melting pot for Jing-Chu folk customs and Hunan's agrarian-scholar culture. Endless flat fields stretch out, and ancient camphor trees stand tall at the village entrance. Stripped of dense commercial shops and swarms of tourists, it retains only a raw, rustic lakeside vibe. Upon arrival, everyone shook off their professional personas, tossed aside workplace formalities, and kicked off a relaxed team stroll. We hiked together along the ancient stream-side trails, teamed up to explore the old shrines and weir ruins, snapped funny photos of one another, and chatted about life outside of work. Usually introverted team members slowly warmed up to the vibe, while our normally serious seniors showed off a playful, laid-back side. While trekking along the rolling field paths, the fitter colleagues naturally slowed their pace to wait for the rest, and the attentive ones kept an eye out for slippery spots, giving everyone a heads-up. No one rushed ahead alone; everyone had each other's backs. In our downtime, we paused to listen to tales of early settlers crossing the river to farm and build homes, letting our guards down amidst the refreshing breeze and scenic views. The stiff distance between us gently faded away with the wind, revealing the genuine, warm sides of each other that we don't often see at work. It turns out that a great team isn't just about pulling together on the job—it's also about enjoying each other's company in our downtime. This ancient village getaway acted as a gentle bridge, drawing our hearts closer. Tips: Choose shared electric bikes from official stores for transportation; be cautious buying from mobile stalls in the ancient village as prices can be inflated; the comfortable evening temperature is perfect for outdoor walks. 5. Linxiang | high-speed train 2h10min | constant temperature underground cave secret 🕳️ Just over two hours by train, ideal for a full two-day itinerary and a great choice for family trips. The main attraction is the 6501 underground project, where the cave stays at a constant 18℃ year-round, instantly escaping the summer heat. The multi-level cave system resembles an underground maze, with fun features like aerospace VR and tank experiences 👨‍👩‍👧. Nearby, Wujian Mountain Forest Park has dense vegetation and cool mountain trails. The shallow creek at Dashiao is safe for children to play in. In the evening, stroll along the riverside walkway, where the breeze cools the air. Local soy sauce dried tofu makes a great souvenir 🥡. Tips: The cave is damp, so bring tissues and pack a change of clothes separately if you plan to play in the water; the cave temperature is low, so bring a light jacket. General travel tips: All cities have the most frequent departures from 7–9 AM and 4–7 PM. Booking tickets three days in advance is more reliable 🎫. Travel light and bring a foldable fan and cooling sleeves. Convenience stores in mountain towns are scattered, so stock up on drinking water in advance. If on a budget, choose affordable accommodations in old towns, as guesthouses near scenic spots tend to be more expensive. Focus on relaxing and cooling off rather than visiting every attraction; pick two favorite spots to explore at a leisurely pace.

📅 Itinerary Linxiang Night Mkt Day1: Day2: Day3: 🏨 Accommodation 🍴 Food Recommendations 📌 Foods there were delicious. We tried the Spring roll wrap, dumplings & pork belly rice, sweet potato balls. All was tasty. We took a bus from Cozzi Hotel there. Very convenient & near.

In the height of summer in Yueyang, with cicadas chirping and waves of heat rolling in, Wujian Mountain National Forest Park, located 35 kilometers from the city center, feels like an emerald forgotten by time. With a forest coverage rate of 98.2% and an average annual temperature of 25°C, it is the perfect secret escape from the scorching heat. Filled with anticipation for the "Natural Oxygen Bar of Northern Hunan," I embarked on this summer journey dancing with mountains, waterfalls, and seas of clouds. Morning Light: Climbing to Bihai Terrace to Witness the Sea of Clouds Sunrise At 7 a.m., while the city was still asleep, I had already driven to the east gate of the forest park. Only a few cars were parked in the lot, and the air was filled with the fresh scent of pine needles and dew. When purchasing tickets, I learned that summer tickets booked online cost only 36 yuan, nearly half the price of peak season tickets bought offline, and include access to attractions like the Forest Fire Science Park and Danbo Cultural Park, offering great value. Following the wooden boardwalk uphill, morning mist wrapped the forest like a thin veil, and sunlight filtered through the canopy, casting dappled shadows. About an hour later, I reached the highest point of the park, Bihai Terrace (elevation 588.1 meters). From the viewing platform, the full view of Linxiang City and the shimmering Yangtze River stretched out before me. The most breathtaking sight was the sea of clouds—milky white waves rolling through the valleys, sometimes like a stampede of horses, sometimes like a tranquil lake, seemingly within reach. Among fellow visitors, some set up tripods for time-lapse photography, while others closed their eyes and took deep breaths, filling their lungs with negative oxygen ions. Midday Exploration: The Cool Symphony of Waterfalls and Primeval Forest Descending gently along the west trail from Bihai Terrace, about 2 kilometers away lies the Chaijiachong Scenic Area. Here is the densest cluster of waterfalls in Wujian Mountain, with the Mandarin Duck Waterfall and the Three-Step Waterfall being especially stunning. The Mandarin Duck Waterfall is about 5 meters wide, split in two by a rock and a tree in the middle, with a large and a small stream cascading down. The roaring water and the droplets sparkling in the sunlight create rainbows. The Three-Step Waterfall resembles a silver chain hanging down, falling in three stages along the rock face, with mist spreading and instantly dissipating the summer heat. Passing through the waterfalls, I entered the primary secondary forest. Over 200 hectares of natural broadleaf forest shaded the sky, with towering ancient trees and entwined vines. Occasionally, rare animals like pangolins and monkey-faced hawks could be spotted. The forest trail was slippery, requiring careful steps in non-slip shoes, but the coolness and tranquility along the way made one forget fatigue. I met a forest ranger who smiled and said, "The average summer temperature here is 25°C, 10 degrees cooler than the city!" Leisurely Afternoon: A Dual Immersion in Culture and Nature As the afternoon sun grew stronger, I headed to cultural spots to escape the heat. In Danbo Cultural Park, the Danbo Museum houses century-old tools used for making the spicy sauce of Linxiang’s Thirteen Villages. The World Stele Forest Museum features inscriptions of poems by scholars from various eras. Walking through these places felt like a dialogue with history. The Forest Fire Science Park is a paradise for families, where children learn fire prevention knowledge through interactive exhibits, combining education with fun. For nature lovers, Huaxi Diecui is a must-see. Clear springs flow over ecological green moss, wildflowers bloom abundantly, and stone tables and benches by the creek offer a place to rest, listen to the babbling water, and watch dragonflies skim the surface. Time here slows down and becomes gentle. Evening Festivities: Summer Romance at the Campsite and Bonfire At sunset, I went to the Wujian Mountain campsite. The area is equipped with lush lawns and tent zones. Many families had already set up canopies, children chased and played on the grass, while adults gathered around barbecues. The sizzling lamb skewers and the fragrant roasted corn filled the air. When night fell, the park lit a bonfire, and visitors joined hands to dance ethnic dances. Under the starry sky, laughter and singing blended into the most beautiful melody of a summer night. For a deeper nature experience, you can choose to stay overnight at the campsite. The night mountain breeze is cool, pine waves rustle, and the sounds of insects and birds create natural white noise. Looking up reveals a dazzling Milky Way, as if you are in a paradise away from the world. Conclusion: A Healing Summer Appointment for Body and Soul The trip to Wujian Mountain allowed me to find a cool sanctuary amid the blazing summer. Here, there is no city noise, only the roar of waterfalls, the whispers of the forest, and the tranquility of the starry sky. Whether standing atop Bihai Terrace overlooking the sea of clouds or spending a wonderful evening with family and friends at the campsite, every moment lets you feel nature’s gifts and the richness of life. If you want to escape the heat, come to Wujian Mountain and enjoy a summer rendezvous with mountains, waterfalls, and seas of clouds! I. Basic Visitor Information 1. From the top, you can overlook the entire city of Linxiang and even catch a glimpse of Dongting Lake. The layered mountains and scattered sea of clouds, with blue skies and white clouds reflected on the mirror surface on clear days, create a highly atmospheric setting perfect for photos. 2. Dabeisi & Puji Temple Two quiet ancient temples hidden deep in the forest, serene and simple with pure incense. The temple buildings are elegant, surrounded by green trees and a peaceful environment without commercial noise. Ideal for praying, calming the mind, and leisurely strolling to experience the Zen atmosphere of the forest. A must-visit for cultural relaxation. 3. World Stele Forest Museum & Qu Yuan Academy The cultural core area of Wujian Mountain. It is said that Qu Yuan once traveled here, and during the Three Kingdoms period, Lu Xun stationed troops here. The stele forest houses many famous calligraphy stone carvings with a strong literary atmosphere. Qu Yuan Academy offers an immersive experience of Chu and Hunan culture, perfect for visitors interested in cultural history and study tours. 4. Stone Forest Landscape & Summit Observation Tower The mountain’s natural stone forest is scattered with bizarre and varied rock formations, making wandering through it very interesting. The summit observation tower is the highest point in the park, offering a 360° unobstructed panoramic view of the five peaks of Wujian Mountain. The light and shadow at sunrise and sunset are stunning, making it the best spot for mountain views and panoramic photos. 5. Shilipo Hiking Boardwalk A combination of stone slabs and wooden boardwalks with gentle slopes and smooth paths, very easy and suitable for all ages. Along the way, dense forest shades the path, streams babble, and lush greenery abounds, providing an immersive oxygen-rich experience. Rest points such as the Reading Pavilion, Quiet Reflection Terrace, and Sea of Clouds Pavilion are set along the trail, making the walk enjoyable and relaxing.

When the sunset dyes the sky the color of orange soda, the mirror-like surface embraces the entire evening glow. Standing on the mountain peak, beneath your feet is a sea of rolling clouds, and in the distance are layers of overlapping mountains, with even the wind carrying the crispness of the forest. It turns out you don't have to travel far to witness the moment when the sky and earth embrace, right here on the mountaintop in northern Hunan. As soon as I reached the door, I was drawn in by the sign. The black background with white letters reading "Men's Barber Shop" paired with a blue logo gives off a full-on American retro vibe. Pushing the door open, it instantly felt like stepping into a barbershop from an old American movie! The shop features iconic red, white, and gold barber chairs, black and white checkerboard floor tiles, vintage chandeliers, and vinyl record decorations on the walls, perfectly capturing the atmosphere—great for photos! As soon as I walked into "Yu Jian", I was healed by its milky white facade and the scent of flowers. Under the warm yellow lights, each dish looks like a work of art: The curry lobster wrapped in a rich sauce is incredibly fresh; the fruit toast square wraps hide the cream and fruitiness, sweet but not greasy; and the stringy cheese pizza is carbohydrate happiness in every bite.
