The car stopped at the pier, and the butler picked us up by yacht. The layered peaks and forests on both sides of the river unfolded before us, instantly bringing a sense of tranquility. We checked into a treehouse suspended in the woods, the scent of raw wood mingling with the mist, and stepping outside revealed a breathtaking panorama of green mountains. There are summer resort lists every year, but these 8 cities are really underestimated this year. Others are crowded in the city of celebrities to watch the crowds, but you can turn a corner and go to these places to enjoy the wind, eat powder, and watch the mountains and rivers. I just finished a lap in August, and all the places I picked were places where my local friends nodded. You just follow them. 01 Jilin Songhua Lake and Foggy Island, many people only know that winter is coming, in fact, August in Jilin is the real treasure. ⏰ Arrived at the Songhua Lake Pier at 6:30 am, the river was foggy, the water vapor hit the face cool, much more comfortable than the air-conditioned room. Rent a small boat to cruise the lake, and the boatman will take you into the back of the island, where the water is shallow and clear, and you can see the small fish in the crevices of the rocks. At noon, we had a meal of "Three Flowers and One Island" stewed fish at the farmhouse by the lake. The fish was so tender that it fell apart with chopsticks. Staying at a B&B near Mingshi Tianyuan, you can see the karst peak forest through the window, which looks like an ink painting in the early morning when there is fog. 05 Qiqihar City | Heilongjiang In the Zalong Wetland, August is at its peak. ⏰ At 6:30 in the morning to the entrance of the scenic spot, catch the first battery car into, at this time the reeds are full of birdsong, one after another like a concert. Take the cable car up and down, and walk the best part of the meadow in between—it’s just the right amount of exercise. ⏰ Arrive at the foot of the mountain before 8:30 AM to avoid cable car lines. The mist hasn’t cleared yet, and dew drops on the grass make kids excited to say it feels like “walking in the clouds.” 📍 Walk from the summit toward Diaomazhuang. This section has the strongest, coolest breeze. Remember to bring a light windbreaker for the kids—the wind at the top can blow hats away. 🍜 At the foot of the mountain in Pingxiang city’s old street, the soup noodles open at 6 AM. The broth is fresh and the noodles smooth; kids can finish a whole bowl. Walk a short stretch on the boardwalk, find a quiet spot, and let the kids throw stones to watch the splashes—that’s enough. Keketuohai is even more stunning and less crowded than Kanas. The Irtysh River rushes through the canyon with a loud roar. Kids will wonder why the water is green. The park’s “couple trees” will spark questions about why one is green and the other yellow—perfect for a nature lesson. 📍 On the Altay grasslands at dusk, herders drive sheep home, casting long shadows.
