(But you gotta have good fitness, check the weather, and make sure you have enough time - all three are a must!) Where to find Trolltunga: It's in the Hardangertjord area in southern Norway, near the town of Odda. We stayed in Odda and drove from Oslo - took us about 6 hours with our rental car. Getting ready for the hike: 1. Weather is super important! Try to avoid rainy days. I mean, it's a 22km trek, and getting into trouble in heavy rain would be pretty dangerous since there's not much infrastructure along the way. So definitely check Windy right before you head out. 2. You'll need proper gear - hiking boots, a waterproof jacket, and a hat are non-negotiable. Go for that three-layer system. 3. Pack enough food for two meals. We only brought one, and we were starving on the way down, so we just had chocolate. 4. Book your parking spot! If you're driving, you should reserve the P3 parking. (It's 600 NOK on the booking site, and you need to book 2-3 weeks ahead or you won't get a spot). If you don't book P3, you'll have to walk an extra 6km round trip or take a longer bus ride. The buses stop running pretty early in the afternoon, so you won't have much flexibility. The hike details: It's 22km total with a 900-meter climb. Most of the climbing happens between the 3-5km mark, and after that, it's pretty flat. The scenery changes a lot - you'll see waterfalls, fjords, tundra, and even snow. When you get to the end, the cliffs are just breathtaking with clouds rolling around. The hike itself takes about 8 hours, but with photo stops and sightseeing, plan for around 12 hours So try to get to P3 by 8 AM. Started off with some shopping in Odda. The town in a narrow valley between mountains and a lake. It is also tourist hub were many people start off their hiking to world famous Trolltunga-Rock. 🍲Siderhuset Ola K - we had lunch here. Not too far of a drive from Odda on the west side of the fjord. There is this beautiful restaurant by the water. It was raining so we opted to sit inside. We had a delicious fish soup. 🏨 Ullensvang hotel - After lunch we took the small ferry boat from Utne to Kinsarvik. We stayed one night at the hotel here. Beautiful experience by the fjord. 🥂 Cider tasting at Opedalstunet - super nice experience with the apple farmer and his son giving us the tour of the farm where we ended up tasting some of their own produced cider from Hardanger. Låtefossen - we stoped by one of the spectacular waterfalls on the way back home again. April is a good time to catch the apple farms in bloom. An amazing hut that has everything you need for a unique getaway! The hard work that the owners have put in to build this awesome place cannot be underestimated. It was an amazing stay at Woodnest. The photos don´t do justice, it is even better 🤩 if you like to walk, the walk is not that difficult it just adds to the uniqueness of this place! One of the most beautiful places I had the chance to stay at, 100% recommended. Thank you guys for what you have created ❤️ We are also very impressed by the cleaning staff who takes the rather difficult hike every single day to make sure the guests feel welcome in a clean hut!
