Jungle River Cruise experience like no other
Bohol is known for its world-class Chocolate Hills, one of the popular Wonders of the World, and its white-sand beaches, along with its tarsiers. But there is always something more than that. A river runs through it.
Bohol’s Loboc River has been touted one of the most beautiful rivers this tropical paradise has ever had, but what makes it even more unique than the rest is that there is an actual cultural activity running and floating with it: the floating restaurants, on an hourly cruise filled with relaxing music on board.
I'd say don't skip this part of the itinerary since you can definitely relax, enjoy the view, the positive vibes of people & the smiles of everyone onboard, among other things.
I'm not gonna lie, you sure definitely had better tasting seafood dishes somewhere, but it's the experience, people you're with, the amazing smiles & dances you'll witness, so hope you won't skip this one.
Loboc can be a good place to start your Philippine journey, as the ambiance the floating restaurant river cruise give, helps encourage you to make friends onboard and probably join them on their next itinerary, if they're willing. Some also found their love in this romantic river.

Virgin Island
The warm water had completely swallowed the entire sandbar of Pungtud Island when our boat docked. My niece and nephew could not believe their eyes. For the first time ever, they saw a sandbar, a lengthy, white sandbar that extended to the shallow sea from a small island. Immediately, the kids hopped out of the boat, ran to along the sandy runway, and made little splashes along the way.
More commonly known to tourists as Virgin Island, Pungtud Island lies in the middle of a relatively shallow area between Balicasag and Panglao Islands. It is always a crowd favorite because of its C-shaped naked sandbar.
“It looks like a snake!” my nephew exclaimed, referring to the shape of the island.
“Or a tadpole!” shouted my niece. It looks like so many things. A comma. A bent spoon. A hair follicle. A sperm cell. Name it.
Unlike in Balicasag Island, there’s not much to do here other than bathe in the sun. One thing I like doing here, though, is to just sit or lie in the sand with my body half dipped in the shallow water. There’s not much space to swim around either because the island is surrounded by sea grass. It’s alright for snorkeling because there are some fish hiding underneath. But it can underwhelm visitors who just came from Balicasag.
But in the itinerary, I’d like to think of Virgin Island as the “relaxing” part of the tour. You know, where you don’t make much effort to appreciate the sheer beauty of the surroundings. You just lie in the sand, make little splashes in the water, drink fresh buko juice, share stories with family or friends, and just have pure, relaxing, fun time. Other times, we liked pretending to be part of Aang’s entourage and try sand-bending.

Alona Beach
The Alona beach is a popular public beach located at the south-west tip of Panglao Island, Bohol in the Philippines. It is known for its white sand, rocky cliffs, and commercial facilities that line the 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) stretch of the beach. It is located near a coral reef and is a popular scuba-diving and snorkeling spot. It is situated less than two miles from the Bohol-Panglao International Airport.
The beach is named after Filipino actress Alona Alegre who ran naked along the beach in 1973 for the movie “Esteban” which she co-starred along with Fernando Poe Jr.
The beach is located at barangay Tawala in Panglao, one of the two municipalities in Panglao Island, Philippines. It is situated around 20 kilometres (12 mi) from the port of Tagbilaran and about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) from the Bohol-Panglao International Airport. It is accessible by a sealed road, by car, motorbike, airport bus or jeepney. Alona Beach is rather small as it spans less than one kilometre (half-mile) of white powder sand surrounded by low rocky cliffs.
The beach is connected to the Anos Fonacier Circumferential Road. An airport bus directly connects the beach to the airport and to Tagbilaran.

Bohol South Beach Hotel
We were situated on the ground floor with the pool directly outside our door which we loved. The service was excellent, our breakfast was cooked to order and it was delicious. There’s a free shuttle to and from Alona Beach. The room was a little dated but wouldn’t take much to touch up.
The pool was great and we used it a few times a day, was pretty joyful swimming in the rain too.
The view was fantastic especially in the morning when the tide came in. All in all I’d recommend as a good quality budget stay.

The BEST hotel in Bohol
This is by far the best resort in Bohol. The place alone is super luxurious and also the service. The Resort has a vast waterway pool, world class dive facilities including dive swimming pool, and over five signature restaurants and bars which is very rare in Bohol. They also offer breakfast in the pool where you can eat through a floating table. It was a great experience overall.
