After exploring the "bold" mountain city and artsy district in Chile, our next stop is to "cross the Andes Mountains" and fly from Santiago to El Calafate (FTE), Argentina! 🇦🇷🏔️ 💡 Trip.com Booking Tips: Want to make your trip twice as efficient? The secret is to book your flight and the first night's accommodation in the small town on Trip.com in advance 🏨! Especially when visiting these remote South American towns, having someone to pick you up or knowing where you're headed in advance really puts your mind at ease and makes everything go smoothly! 🙌✨ Our flight departed from SCL to FTE at 2:55 PM local time ☕, taking about two and a half hours. After landing, we found that FTE airport is really small. We searched around but couldn't find a currency exchange (Casa de Cambio). ❌ Additionally, it's quite difficult to call an Uber. Don't waste time standing at the entrance scrolling on your phone. After landing, it's best to directly look for an official airport taxi (Remis) or Shuttle Bus. If you're traveling with a group of friends, getting a taxi into town is the most cost-effective option.

I took the cable car 🚡 up to Cerro San Cristóbal. The first thing that struck me was the stunning snow-white Virgin Mary statue (Virgen de la Inmaculada Concepción) guarding the entire city! 🗽 Beneath the statue, there is a beautifully crafted open-air chapel. From the terrace next to the chapel, you can overlook the entire Santiago city center, and even see the distant Andes snow-capped mountains 🏔️ clearly.

Want to enjoy a 360-degree view of Santiago? Then you must visit Cerro San Cristóbal! 🏔️ We chose to go up by cable car and come down by funicular, experiencing two completely different visual thrills in one trip. It was definitely the highlight of our journey! 🔝✨ ⬆️ Going up: Cable Car (Teleférico) for a smooth ride 🚠 Starting point: Oasis Station (near Pedro de Valdivia Station). The cable car is modern and very stable. The best part is gliding through the air while enjoying views of South America's tallest building, Sky Costanera, alongside the majestic Andes Mountains 🏔️❄️. The feeling of weaving between skyscrapers is incredible, and the photos are absolutely stunning! 📸 ⬇️ Coming down: Funicular for a thrilling descent 🎢 Starting point: At the mountain top, switch to the over 100-year-old funicular to return to Pío Nono Station. Experience: This funicular is a national monument! The wooden carriages travel down a steep track all the way to the base of the mountain.🤣

Upon reaching the summit, I was immediately struck by the stunning snow-white statue of the Virgin Mary (Virgen de la Inmaculada Concepción) guarding the entire city! 🗽✨ The "Pure White Landmark" 🗽🤍 stands 14 meters tall (22 meters including the base!) and has been perched atop the mountain since 1908. As the sky gradually brightened, although the three peaks were partially obscured by clouds, the mystical harmony of the lake and peaks was breathtakingly beautiful. The campsite showers were either scalding hot or freezing cold—no in-between! 😂 We even found Made in Korea gas canisters—a delightful surprise on the other side of the globe. · -- 🚶♂️ Day 2: A Relaxed Route on Mostly Flat Terrain The day began with a downhill section, followed by a 7.6 km trek to the free Italiano campsite. Although the total distance for the day was 18.6 km, the flat terrain made it less physically demanding.
