[2024 Chaozhou Stay] Travel Guide for East Sea Hotel (Updated Nov)
Yingzhou Design Hotel Chaozhou.
Before my trip to Chaozhou, I checked the hotel rankings, and this hotel should be in the top 3. Although it is not a chain hotel, I decided to give it a try. It was a pleasant surprise.
Design & Environment: 4.5 stars. The location is very convenient, inside the ancient city, next to the Zhuangyuan Archway, and you can walk to all the popular attractions. I didn't take a taxi during my stay in Chaozhou. The hotel was built during the Republic of China period, and this year is the 99th anniversary of its construction. It was a restaurant before it was converted into a hotel a few years ago. The hotel has a strong sense of age and design, with stone houses showing delicate carvings and colored glass patterns, which are unique. The roof is hollow in the middle, and when it rains, it falls directly into the pool in the middle of the lobby, which is very charming.
Facilities: 4 stars. The old building brings some unavoidable problems, such as small rooms (there is no place to put luggage), poor soundproofing, and unstable water pressure. But it is clear that the hotel is trying to make up for it with careful maintenance, and the facilities are not too old and worn, with Ferragamo toiletries. I think they did a good job.
Service: 5 stars. Very attentive service, they will remember who you are, which room you are staying in, and greet you by name. They will enthusiastically introduce you to the location of attractions, popular souvenirs, and tourist traps. There are fresh licorice fruits and snacks during the day, freshly made desserts at night, fresh tea leaves, and plenty of mineral water. On the last day, it was raining heavily when we checked out, and we couldn't go out to catch our flight. The waiter communicated with the online car-hailing driver in Chaozhou dialect, and the driver came directly to the door to pick us up. Very attentive.
Dining: 4 stars. Breakfast is a set meal, usually beef noodles + snacks + vegetables + whole grains + eggs, which is enough to fill you up, and you can add more if you want, but it is a little less free. You can have lunch and dinner at the hotel's Yingzhou Goose, which is said to be the best goose in Chaozhou. I ordered a platter of marinated meat for over 100 yuan, and the owner gave me goose blood. The goose meat was lean but not dry, and the goose liver was fatty but not greasy (highly recommended). Although it was a bit expensive, it was very different from the ordinary marinated goose sold outside. I bought the hotel's beef balls and beef tendon balls as souvenirs before I left, and the Cantonese people said they missed home after eating them.
So you can't evaluate Yingzhou Design Hotel Chaozhou as a star hotel, it is more like a high-end B&B and inn, where you can feel better service and the warmth of home.

I have stayed at this hotel five times during my five visits to Chaozhou
This is a historic hotel, with the building itself being nearly a hundred years old. Coupled with its design style and thoughtful service (I must mention the butler service; after check-in, the butler helps carry the luggage upstairs, explaining the history of the hotel along the way, and after entering the room, they even provide welcome fruit), the staying experience is 💯! To judge whether a hotel is high-end, I personally look at the bath products, and here~it's Ferragamo, wow🤪!!
Moreover, the location of the hotel is excellent, just turn right out of the door and you're already in the middle of Paifang Street! After breakfast, my husband and I had a post-meal walk
❤Recommended reason:
If it weren't for my friend's strong recommendation, I wouldn't even dare to dream that I could stay in a guesthouse where pulling back the curtains reveals a view of the Kaiyuan Temple.
The location is uniquely advantageous, with the Kaiyuan Temple just downstairs, and Paifang Street to the right.
Who cares if it's crowded on holidays, I go straight to the scenic area from downstairs, without any fear.
The guesthouse has an elevator, so my mom doesn't have to worry about me carrying a 28-inch suitcase up the stairs anymore.
And the environment is also very nice, the pure and innocent decoration style struck my heart right away.
There's also a 1.6m diameter bathtub to wash away the fatigue of the journey.
🌟Highlights:
The room's setup is very 👍 Massage chair|Sofa🛋️|Bathtub|Floor-to-ceiling windows|Large mirrors🪞|Refrigerator
Any random photo looks great! I'm willing to stay in the room all day
The location is right here on Kaiyuan Road, a few hundred meters to Kaiyuan Temple Paifang Street
There are also many places to eat nearby, with Xinqiao Road right across the street✔️It's convenient to go anywhere~

Enjoying lion head goose, feeling the century-old mansion, and telling the history | Chaozhou Yingzhou Design Hotel
As the third batch of historical buildings in Chaozhou City, Yingzhou Design Hotel was founded in the fourteenth year of the Republic of China, and it was the most prosperous first high-rise hotel in Chaozhou city during the Republic of China period. It has a history of a hundred years to its name.
Design Style
The hotel's front plaque 'Yingzhou Hotel' was covered by building material coatings during the Cultural Revolution, and it was accidentally discovered during construction, allowing the historic building to restore its reputation. The overall style of the hotel is influenced by the exchange between Chaozhou and overseas at that time, blending the Republic of China's ambiance with European style. Arches, corridors, the blue-green color tones representative of the Republic of China, terrazzo from that period, and colored glaze are all part of it. The designer extracted the cultural colors of that historical period, combined with the aesthetics of modern people, to form a theme tone that fits the present, the lobby, preserving the traditional Chaoshan residential 'four-point gold' pattern, the central pool, with living water drawn from underground, and the pool uses flowing water and mist to create a landscape design, instantly making one forget where they are, as if they are in the midst of a tropical rainforest. Especially admiring such avant-garde and bold design.
Hotel Rooms
Almost every balcony room is enveloped by the opposite magnolia, enjoying a moment of comfort on the balcony full of greenery, brewing Kung Fu tea, reading, and enjoying a leisurely time. The rooms are equipped with Kung Fu tea sets, high-quality Dancong tea, capsule coffee, the bathroom is large enough, with a dry and wet separation, intelligent toilet, a century-old German shower system, and in addition to toiletries, there is also bottled water.
Hotel Dining
The snacks provided every day include mung bean cakes, licorice fruit Chaozhou peanut sesame candy, each one delicious. Breakfast is available every day from 07:30-10:00, not wanting to miss the beautiful time on the balcony, I will ask the butler to deliver breakfast to the room, enjoying it while admiring the opposite magnolia.
The first floor is filled with an aesthetically pleasing exhibition space, featuring Chaozhou ceramics, hand-pulled pots, and the butler brewing Kung Fu tea here daily, always wholeheartedly inviting you to drink tea whenever you approach. The paintings on each floor, classic ornaments from the Republic of China era, create a full atmosphere of travel photography. The Yingzhou lion head goose on the first floor is delicious and recommended.
Hotel Services
What impressed me the most is that the service staff here are very attentive, not only giving away fruit when checking in, explaining accommodation precautions, but also being available at a moment's notice, just like family. A bonus is that there are also children's slippers and washing supplies.
