When traveling in Antalya, Turkey, besides enjoying the sea, you certainly shouldn't miss the historical sites here. Highly recommended is the Perge Ancient City, not far from the city center. / ⭕️ 'About Perge Ancient City': Perge Ancient City was founded in the 3rd century BC, and it has experienced Greek, Roman, and Christian periods, thriving for over a thousand years. It is one of the ancient cities with a long history in the Mediterranean region. / ⭕️ 'Attractions and Activities': The ancient city is divided into two parts: the theater and the main city, separated by a road in between. ✔️ Theater: The theater of the ancient city, compared to the Aspendos Theater, is more dilapidated but still quite spectacular. You can climb up and down, and people appear very small within the entire theater. ✔️ Main City: The main city is also quite ruined, but the functional areas are still relatively complete, with churches, baths, worship sites, arenas, etc., and are well worth a visit. ✔️ Market Street: Exiting the main city, there is a small market street where local elders sell some small souvenirs. If interested, you can also take a look. / ⭕️ 'Tickets and Timing': ✔️ Ticket: 250 Lira per person, the ticket is valid for both the theater and the main city, so don't buy it repeatedly. ✔️ Timing: 08:30-17:00 / ⭕️ 'Transportation Tips': The ancient city is about 15 kilometers from the city center. You can take the urban rail T1 to 'Aksu', and after getting off, a walk of about 2.1km (half an hour) will get you there. Note that you should take the correct T1, not the one going to the airport.

#summervacay Explored Perge Ancient City and honestly felt like I walked straight into a real life history book. This place is massive and seriously underrated. Giant columns, crumbling gates, old bathhouses, and even a stadium, it’s all still standing (kinda) and super impressive. Like, how is this stuff thousands of years old and still so cool? The main street is lined with ruins, and walking through it feels surreal. You can almost imagine ancient people just going about their day here. It’s also super quiet, barely any crowds, so you can take your time, snap pics, and soak it all in without getting bumped by tour groups. Wear comfy shoes and bring water, there’s not much shade and it gets hot. But it’s so worth it for the vibe, the views, and the epic scale of the place. If you're into ruins, old stuff, or just want something different from beaches, Perge is a must. It’s like an open-air museum that you can fully explore. Loved it!

Located just 18 kilometers east of Antalya, Perge Ancient City is one of the most impressive and well-preserved archaeological sites in Turkey. Once a thriving city of the ancient Pamphylia region, Perge dates back to around the 12th century BC and flourished under Roman rule. As you enter the city through its monumental Hellenistic gate, you're greeted by wide colonnaded streets, ancient shops, Roman baths, and a magnificent theater that once held over 12,000 spectators. The city’s stadium, one of the largest in Anatolia, could seat around 15,000 people and still showcases its original stone seating and archways. Perge was also known as a center of art and architecture. The city was home to the famous mathematician Apollonius and played an important role in the spread of Christianity; the Apostle Paul is believed to have visited Perge during his missionary journeys. One of the most remarkable features of Perge is its intricate water system — including aqueducts and a nymphaeum (monumental fountain) — that once flowed through the streets, reflecting the advanced engineering of the time. The itinerary was mainly based on the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea in winter, so we did not arrange a self-driving trip on D400, and naturally we also gave up the towns of Fethiye and Kaş. Considering that Istanbul Airport was far away, I flew directly to Izmir after entering the country. All four domestic legs were flights. I only used some Euros to buy things at Istanbul Airport. 4️⃣I rented a car from Sixt in Izmir and Kayseri. It was a good experience with no problems. Just be aware that there are two parking buildings at Izmir Airport. When renting a car, you must ask which parking building to return the car to. It is like a maze inside and is not easy to find. 5️⃣ Common supermarkets include Sok, BIM, A101, and Migros. If you see them, you can go in and buy supplies. You can also buy souvenir snacks, chocolates, etc. in these supermarkets. 🌡️ Temperature and outfit In mid-to-late January, Izmir and Antalya are around 10 degrees, so thick sweatshirts and coats are enough. Istanbul is 7-8 degrees and windy, so you need to wear a hat when taking a boat. Goreme is a bit colder, around 0 degrees, so a down jacket will do, but it won’t feel as cold as Beijing. I visited Antalya between 25-29th October 2024. I stayed at Kremlin palace. I went to Land of Legends which was about 25-40 minute drive from the hotel via taxi. Lots of Food places to choose from, entertainment and shopping. Lovely for couples and families. #familytravel #laraantalya

It is known as the city that St. Paul visited when he started his journey in 46 AD and the sacred place where he gave his first sermon, making it an important city for Christians in the Byzantine era.

This is Antalya that I visited before. Perge was impressive. It was magnificent and well preserved in the old Roman ruins, so it was really nice and great^^
