On their menu, you can find all day brunch items such as their addictive waffles with crispy fried chicken and maple syrup. The chicken was juicy and the waffles goes well with it. Try their signature Alfredo chicken pasta too and pizzas. Everything was perfect, flavourful and portions were huge. If you're bringing kids along, there's even a small play corner. VCR is just a five-minute walk from Hang Tuah Station. Look for the black house, and you've found it. There seem to be several schools nearby, as I encountered many students hanging out when I arrived. Upon entering, I noticed a small black cat sleeping on the VCR sign, adding to the café's laid-back vibe, which I absolutely love. The café has two floors, with the upstairs area being larger and more comfortable. There's a corner with floor-to-ceiling windows where you can sit by the window and enjoy a cup of coffee, feeling utterly relaxed. The café operates on a semi-self-service model. You place your order at the counter downstairs, get a number, and a staff member will bring your food and drinks to you later. On this day, I suddenly felt health-conscious and ordered avocado toast. A generous amount of mashed avocado covered the entire toast, topped with plenty of quinoa and arugula, making it feel very healthy. A wobbly sunny-side-up egg on top makes it Instagram-worthy and, of course, enhances the flavor. Since I was already here, I decided to try their cake and chose a piece of raspberry cheesecake from the display. The cake was soft, with a mild cheese flavor, complemented by the tangy raspberry sauce, making it refreshing and delicious. Personally, I could handle a stronger cheese flavor, which I think would make it even more appealing. The Flat White was also quite impressive. I later found out online that the barista here is award-winning, which explains a lot! It's lamentable how expensive a cup of coffee is in Hong Kong—world-class expensive. We went to the VCR store, which is located in a two-story dark room built in 1927, near the old prison Pudu Jail. According to VCR, this small dark room is where most of the wardens used to live, and this dark room is in stark contrast to the lush greenery nearby. The VCR headquarters did not disappoint us. The milk coffee was very balanced and smooth in the mouth. Hand brewed Kenya, the taste is very clear. The breakfast selection seems rather small at first glance, but these few dishes are so delicious! We tried something new every day and were surprised every day. The service is very friendly and the atmosphere here is very relaxed. Compared to other restaurants, it's not too air-conditioned here, which we found very good.
