A hike with stunning views of Shenzhen
Nanshan mountain is one of the easier hikes in Shenzhen and gives you some of the best views of the city. Located in Nanshan park the mountain isn’t very steep and has well maintained paths to the top. There are various places along the way to stop and rest, many with views out over the city.
When you reach the top you are able to see the full extend of Shenzhen all the way upto the downtown areas
of Futian and Louhu. Shenzhen spreads all along the coast up Shenzhen bay and this viewpoint is a great place to see the true extent of the city.
You can see Hong Kong across the bay and the Shenzhen bay bridge, behind the mountain you can see the airport and watch airplanes coming into land.
At the bottom of the mountain is Seaworld which is a great place for food and drink, a great spit to relax and refuel after the hike.
Head to Seaworld station on the metro and take the exits for the shopping mall and follow the signs for Nanshan mountain park.

Dance of Nature & Human Skyscrapers

Shenzhen is quite a mountainous region, which qualify it to be one of my favorites in China. Oftentimes in a few metres onto the main road 🛣️ you'll get to see the distant 🏔️ mountains with full green 💚 patches. So this time I decided to chase one of those mountains and hike to get the view of man-made skyscrapers 🏙️ from the natural skyscrapers ⛰️😜 Since I stayed in Luohu district in Shenzhen it's super convenient to just take a 20-min ride to reach Wutong mountain. You may start your hike in a neatly laid out cement road, but to get the amazing view you have to take a detour to a 🪨 rocky path, after some 2 kms. What's the fun in hiking in a cement road right ? 😉 #tripblazers #urbanexplorer #hiking
Quishuiling mountain hike
Quishuiling Mountain hike was an awe-inspiring experience that left me captivated by nature's beauty and my own sense of accomplishment. This challenging trail offered a perfect blend of adventure and serenity, making it an unforgettable journey for outdoor enthusiasts.
From the moment we started our ascent, the trail led us through diverse landscapes that transitioned seamlessly from lush forests to rocky terrains. The well-maintained path ensured safety while also adding to the thrill of the hike. Along the way, we were greeted by panoramic views that seemed to stretch endlessly into the horizon. The sight of mist-covered valleys and distant peaks was simply breathtaking, reminding us of the sheer magnificence of the natural world.
The Quishuiling Mountain hike isn't just about the physical journey; it's a spiritual experience that connects you with the earth. Every step seemed to wash away the stresses of daily life, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the moment and savor the present. The soothing sound of rustling leaves and distant birdsong created a harmonious symphony that was both relaxing and invigorating.
The summit was the ultimate reward for our efforts. Standing atop Quishuiling Mountain felt like a triumph over challenges and a celebration of personal growth. The feeling of accomplishment was accompanied by a sense of humility in the face of nature's grandeur. We shared stories and laughter, creating bonds with fellow hikers who were also drawn to this remarkable place.
As we descended, the sun began its descent as well, casting a golden hue on the landscape and painting a picture that words can hardly do justice. The hike down felt like a reflective journey, allowing us to relive the highlights of the day while preparing to return to the bustling world below.
In retrospect, the Quishuiling Mountain hike was more than just an outdoor adventure—it was an opportunity to reconnect with the natural world, challenge personal limits, and create lasting memories. If you're seeking a hike that blends physical exertion with awe-inspiring beauty, this trail is an absolute must-do. Be prepared for a journey that will leave you not only mesmerized but also rejuvenated in both body and spirit.

YANGTAI MOUNTAIN SHENZHEN
Climbing Yangtai Mountain in Shenzhen was an incredible experience. The breathtaking views, serene hiking trails, and cultural attractions made it a memorable getaway.
Reaching the summit of the mountain was a rewarding moment. The peaceful ambiance and sweeping views of Shenzhen’s skyline were truly captivating. It felt like a temporary escape from city life, allowing me to find tranquility and solace in the beauty of the mountain.
It was a breath of fresh air, both literally and figuratively. It provided a blend of natural beauty, serenity, and cultural exploration that left a lasting impression. It’s a destination that I would highly recommend to anyone seeking a rejuvenating escape in a stunning natural setting.

Hike with awesome views
Nanshan mountain is one of if not the most popular mountain to hike in Shenzhen. This is because it’s a fast, relatively easy hike and it can be easily reached by public transport. Although heading into Shekou from outside of Nanshan can be a little tiresome at times.
It’s not a high peak, coming in at only 330M high, and it can be scaled up and down in around 2 hours or so. As with most mountains in Shenzhen, there are multiple entry and exit points. So only the main ones will be covered.
You can choose to take the stairs to the stop, these are steep and can give your knees a bit of trouble but it is the quickest shortest route to the top. It’s a good cardio workout and will likely leave you out of breath, but don’t worry there are many rest stops along the way if you wanted to take a break.
There is also the option of taking a paved road to the top if you do not fancy tackling the stairs. The choice is yours. When you get to the top you will be met with some majestic, sweeping panoramic views of the city below you. They really are quite magnificent. You can get views of Bao’an, Nanshan and some of Futian too. At night the view is equally marvelous, providing a totally different perspective than in the daytime.
Going down you have the choice of stairs or paved roads, and as with going up, have multiple exits to choose from. Ending the Nanshan Mountain hike at Seaworld is the most common choice because of the F&B options available.
Seaworld metro exit A
No.8 Shekou Villa, Nanshan District, Shenzhen China
南山区南山村南巷(荔源大厦附近), 深圳市
舞茶道南山深圳大学店
You can also enter from nearby ‘Smelly Cat’ coffeeshop in Shuiwan. Head to KIS International School
请带我去韩国国际学校。(Pinyin: qingdai wo quhanguoguojixuexiao)
from Shekou Walmart, go west direction, there is an entrance; from City Garden, go a bit south then turn right at the 7 Days hotel, walk about 10 munites, there is another entrance.

The most famous mountain in Shenzhen! ⛰️
Wutong mountain is a very large area, This is the highest peak in Shenzhen. There are two options big and small Wutong both of them are fine. Also if you want to find the best scenery to look at the whole of Shenzhen city this mountain gives exactly that. Beautiful nature and a great challenge to climb to the top because there are so many stairs that you need to pass. it takes time to climb over there for 2-3 hours with many short breaks because you need to save energy when you go down. The best time to check it when is cooler is during autumn/winter time because when is spring/summer can be so humid weather. This mountain is worth a visit, when you climb up you will see spectacular city views and relax in the fresh oxygen-rich mountain air.

Little Bogota in Wutongshan ❤️
So i went hiking yesterday at the Wutongshan National park (Sycamore hills). It is situated in the central south part of Shenzhen.
Wutongshan (or Wutong mountain) is a rare natural scenic spot in China, which is located in urban area, and with a coastal spread of mountains and natural vegetations as its main scenery.
Little bogota pavillion can be found tucked in on the foggy crossroads between Small Wutong and Great Wutong. Its on the right side of the road if you opted to go to Small Wutong.
Challenging hike but worth it. Especially when you get to the Little Bogota. Climb up those ladders up and when you get to the top, try to meditate. That way you will find peace and solitude.
Free entrance. And again, its foggy and mists all over it. Still try to take photos. ❤️

Meilin Reservoir, Shenzhen
Meilin Reservoir is a large water reservoir located in Futian district, close to Meijing subway station, Shenzhen. It is free to enter, and after passing the guard checkpoint you must climb a flight of stairs on the reservoir dam slope. Upon arrival at the top you will be greeted with the sight of a large lake, with a building poking out of the water on the west side. From this height you have a good view of the meilin area of Shenzhen. Along the reservoir path there are carved stone tablets with information, quotes and pictures of famous Chinese leaders leading up to the present day.
At the end of the reservoir path there is the start of a very long hiking trail, this trail leads up through the huge forested natural park area and up into the Longhua area of the city. This hike will take at least 2 hours to finish and is mostly uphill. There are several rest areas with small pagodas and vista viewing areas along its length, as well as many interesting plants and trees.
When hiking most of the way up the hills the view of the city is spectacular, and you can see the largest skyscrapers jutting up into the sky all over the city on a clear day.

Shenzhen City Views
For a city of 20-something million people, there are a lot of hiking areas to give you that nice scenic overview of the skyline.
For this one, we drove out to Yantian where a hiking path snaked it’s way up the mountains overlooking the city.
With sunset on the way we waited with a fair few it must be said locals- all of whom had their tripods out to be able to grab the city skyline.
For people bored of the same “inner city” Shenzhen, Yantian’s trails and city lookout spots provide a nice alternative that can be done as a day trip.
All-in-all, a 10/10 day out in and around Shenzhen.

Outer Shenzhen
With a fairly long coastline, one benefit of Shenzhen is how accessible the outskirts can be and how easy it can be to get to the coast.
While beaches are within a subway journey of downtown, you can head a little further afield to Dapeng for something a little different.
A little harder to get to, Dapeng’s beaches tend to be a little quieter, the towns a little more relaxing and the views just a bit more peaceful.
Plus, who can complain when just a stone’s throw from the beach there is a relatively cool temple that you can go wander around in when lazing around isn’t doing it for you anymore.
All-in-all, a decent weekend escape from the city centre.

Shenzhen Waterfalls
For a megacity full of glass skyscrapers, it’s easy to get lost in Shenzhen’s downtown and forget to get out into the outskirts- that’s where spots like Maluanshan come in.
Easily accessible by subway (plus a short taxi journey), Maluanshan is a popular spot that ditches the glass skyscrapers for tall trees, dirt tracks and a small waterfall.
Head there early with some snacks to grab a spot on the rocks looking at the water and you’ve got the perfect little picnic spot for lunch. Then, once you’ve grabbed some snaps, head off-road for a couple of km’s to Xichong beach - the perfect end to the day.
From there, you can get a bus back to Yantian subway station on line 2.

Bijiashan Park, Shenzhen
Bijiashan mountain park is a beautiful, quiet and quite large park found near the center of shenzhen, it is close to Lianhuacun subway station and has multiple entrances around its perimeter. Its primary feature is a river running down its length into a series of plant filled lakes in the south. There are many paths winding throughout the park, with many small pagodas, seating areas, rock formations, art pieces and flower beds around the park to see and experience. There are many bridges crossing the river and some boardwalks that go through the river reeds and down into the lakes. Most of the park include a bike path except part of the park which is still under construction. Some of the paths lead up to a mountain top vista area where you can get a great view of much of the city.

Qiniangshan Park, on Dapeng Peninsula in Shenzhen, is a great day trip from anywhere in the Pearl River Delta. The climb to the top is a good challenge and the view from the top is brilliant. The park is huge and there are many trails to choose from. Right now there are many wildflowers over the mountain.
Dapeng has many other attractions such as beaches and an ancient fortress, so it makes a good weekend getaway.

Shenzhen skyline from Lianhua mountaintop
After hiking to the top of Lianhua mountain you will be rewarded with this amazing view of the city, especially lit up at nighttime it is a sight to behold. This is a prime place to view the light shows that go on for part of the year, although it will likely be very crowded. The hike takes about 30-45 minutes and is best done at a cooler time of year or at night time as it can get very sweaty, i recommend bringing lots of water.
The ping an tower dominates the night skyline and looks incredible with its lighting, possibly the only better view of shenzhen is from the observation deck of the ping an building.
Another thing to note is that you may see many large snails on the paths leading up to the top of the mountain, take care not to step on them.

Not too far from the sprawling metropolis of Shenzhen, a beautiful little seaside town with great sights, some history and more. Worth the effort to get to Dapeng to see Dapeng Fortress and the Mermaid's cave.
