Getting There - by train or bus from Edinburgh or Glasgow, or by car - Historic Environment Scotland members park for free just outside the entrance.
Attractions - Stirling Castle shows the refurbished living quarters of the king and queen of Scotland, the great hall, and the chapel. It also hosts the Scottish Army museum. In Stirling, you can further visit the Wallace Monument and the museum around the Battle of Bannockburn.
Hotels - the closest hotel to the castle is right outside its walls and has stunning views.

Mugdock castle
Mugdock Castle is a historical place in Milngave, Scotland. The best way to go there is to drive, but you can also take the train to Milngavie and walk there. It was about 30min from train stationing you wanna walk there and 10 min if you drive. The castle is located in Mugdock Country Park. The castle was lovely and no admission fee. However, you can’t go into the tower of the castle. It’s suitable for family to visit!

There is a Wallace (Gibson's character but real life Scottish legend) monument overlooking the city. There is a stunning castle on a rock, also overlooking the city.
Scotland has amazing historic landmarks and Stirling is right up there.
