A beautiful and peaceful national nature reserve with seven lakes, woodland, and wide open fields. It has a gate, the town gate, that can be walked from the town centre in under ten minutes. Even on an extremely sunny Saturday I went long moments without seeing another person. The park dates back to the medieval period and there are sign posts to point out key historical features. There’s a model aircraft field and club, and many charity runs, walks and cycling events. There are plenty of tarmac paths for those with little ones in push chairs, or wheelchair users. But also of track trails. At the visitor center you can scan a QR code and download a free, colour map, as seen in pictures.
