The Colours of Tallin
Location: Tallin, capital city of Estonia.
Getting there: Take a flight from most major European cities to Tallin. Or, you can take the 2 hour ferry from Helsinki and be in the hear of Tallin. This was my option.
Tallin is a small but breathtaking European city. You don't need public transport here, you can walk from one place to another quite easily. Most of the highlights are in the old town. I enjoyed climbing to the top of the cathedral to get a panoramic view of the city.

Visiting Tallin’s historical landmarks
#newyearadventure #estonia #tallinn
I was glad to make the additional trip across to Estonia 🇪🇪 via ferry, a little more than 12 hours before our return flight to Singapore. Upon reaching Tallinn, the country’s beautiful capital, we took a 2-hour tour around the more prominent historical landmarks that appeared magical with the steady snowfall ❄️😍

Old ruins of Tartu Cathedral
Tartu Cathedral was formerly a Catholic church. Today, it is now ruins after it was damaged in a war in 1525. While the structure of the cathedral remains firm and solid (and hence safe to walk through the ruins), there is visible damage to the pillars and arches of this brick gothic building.
In recent times, a small part of the cathedral has been renovated to house the museum of the University of Tartu.
Tartu Cathedral is free to visit. It is located on Toome Hill, where there is a huge park to walk and cycle.

Exploring Tartu's Town Hall Square
I travelled to Estonia for a couple of days and took the chance to visit Tartu, which is the capital of southern Estonia. It was a fruitful day with loads of interesting finds.
Tartu's Town Hall Square is surrounded by classical buildings and laid with cobblestones paths. There is a prominent sculpture and fountain named Kissing Students, where newly weds would visit for luck.
Directly across the Square is a bright yellow National Geographic window erected in the Town Hall Square which symbolises Tartu as one of the places in Southern Estonia worth visiting.

Experience medieval age in TALLIN 🇪🇪
One of my most amazing visit thus far. It was 2 hours ferry ride to Tallin from Helsinki and a great start for my Baltics adventure!
I love how the vibe gets me referring to Game of Thrones! It’s giving the vibe✨
Old town Tallin is a great escape from reality. You must include this in your travel destination if you were ever getting to Finland because the country is nearby!

Tallinn, Estonia - Beautiful City
A visit to #tallinn in #estonia is a must if you are experiencing parts of Eastern Europe.
It is a beautiful city with colourful houses and buildings dating back to the medieval times. There are many things to do but simply strolling through the old town and seeing the rich history of the city is something you shouldn’t miss.
Depending on where you are coming from you can do day trips or spend 2-3 nights to really immerse yourself in the culture

Patkuli Viewpoint - Tallinn
This is probably one of the best vantage points in the Old Town in #tallinn but it is worth it. It’s an easy walk if you take the roads; a little bit more challenging if you decide conquer the stairs but overall it’s fairly accessible for anyone. There are other vantage points in Tallinn that are within a few hundred meters of each other so you are really spoilt for choice either way. Definitely worth checking them all out.
In winter you will see snow covered rooftops in the old town and on the churches and also no leaves on the trees; in summer you will see the red rooftops of the castle gates and plenty of green trees

Day Trip - Helsinki to Tallinn & back
Get the Megastar Tallink Ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn.
This is a 2 hour ferry ride from Helsinki to Tallinn and relatively inexpensive, about 40 euros for 1 person return.
I’d recommend getting onto the ferry maybe 20-30 mins prior to departure so you can get a window seat as they do tend to fill up pretty quickly! However there is plenty of things on the ferry to keep you entertained - bars, Burger King, tax free shops, casino, arcade type games and live sport.
Well worth it!

Tallinn is not your average old town - it's got serious style! Sure, you can admire the medieval architecture and cobblestone streets, but don't miss out on Tallinn's modern side. Check out the city's cool art galleries, like Kumu, where you'll find super cool digital arts exhibitions and modern Estonian arts. And be sure to explore the hipster neighborhood of Kalamaja, where street art and bohemian cafes are the norm. If you're looking for a city that's both historical and happening, Tallinn is the perfect destination for you!#Estonia #Tallinn #travel #europe

Celebrating independence in Estonia
I had the opportunity to visit the War of Independence Victory column as part of a New Year countdown party. I did not know the historical significance of the place until after the party when I went to read up more about the place online.
Standing at 23.5m high, the War of Independence Victory column is a prominent monument erected in Freedom Square, Tallinn. It was built as a memorial to commemorate those who fought hard for freedom and independence, and fell during the Estonian War of Independence.
The War of Independence Victory column is made up of glass plates. It lights up at night, guiding visitors to the Freedom Square. Today, the Square is used to hold many national event such as the new year countdown party which I attended.
