Upperhills, a mall with a difference
Upperhills Is on of Shenzhen’s newest malls and it’s design really helps it stand out from all the other malls in the city. Located towards the north of downtown it’s been built on a huge plot of land so it’s able to offer a lot more than your standard mall.
Inside you have the usual offerings of fast fashion, mid level brands and accessories - along with a big decathlon store for sporting goods.
The stand out feature of the mall by far is the roof level, there is a sprawling outdoor section that’s full of coffee shops, restaurants and smaller boutique stores. The walls where are all painted different shades or red & orange and the al fresco dining helps you feel like you’re somewhere in Europe. The combination of small stores, colourful decorations and towering skyscrapers make this a very popular spot for photos so it can get very busy
The roof of the mall is also linked by bridge to the Lianhua mountain park - the cities best spot for views. I like to eat dinner in the mall then head to park via the roof to watch the sunset over the city. can’t be missed!
The mall has lots of parking, it’s on many major bus routes and is now linked to the Shenzhen metro via Donggualing metro station.

A hike with stunning views of Shenzhen
Nanshan mountain is one of the easier hikes in Shenzhen and gives you some of the best views of the city. Located in Nanshan park the mountain isn’t very steep and has well maintained paths to the top. There are various places along the way to stop and rest, many with views out over the city.
When you reach the top you are able to see the full extend of Shenzhen all the way upto the downtown areas
of Futian and Louhu. Shenzhen spreads all along the coast up Shenzhen bay and this viewpoint is a great place to see the true extent of the city.
You can see Hong Kong across the bay and the Shenzhen bay bridge, behind the mountain you can see the airport and watch airplanes coming into land.
At the bottom of the mountain is Seaworld which is a great place for food and drink, a great spit to relax and refuel after the hike.
Head to Seaworld station on the metro and take the exits for the shopping mall and follow the signs for Nanshan mountain park.

East Meets West In Sea World, Shenzhen
Sea World is a the hub of Shekou in Nanshan, Shenzhen. The area is a hub for food, drink and shopping and draws a lot of expats due to it’s big selection of western food joints. The area is built around a refurbish French cruise ship, built in 1968 - the ship sits in a big body of water that is surrounding by a walkway, gardens and restaurants.
The area is busy over the weekends especially if the weather is good, there are lots of places with outdoor seating and happy hours to help enjoy the weekend. You can get to the area via the Sea World metro stop or by walking along the Shenzhen Bay park as it finishes a the bottom end of Sea world.
Sea world is within walking distance of Nanshan mountain and it’s a great place to relax after hiking the mountain for the views out over Shenzhen bay and Hong Kong.
There are play areas and arcade games for children and also a culture and arts museum opened in partnership with the V&A museum in London.
Overall a great spot to enjoy good food and drinks with your friends in beautiful surroundings, and at 7PM look out for the fountain show in front of the boat which is really impressive set against the surroundings.

A Tranquil Haven: Jiulong Lake Huadu Hike
Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)
As an avid nature enthusiast, I recently had the pleasure of embarking on the Jiulong Lake Huadu hike, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. Nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of Huadu, this hiking trail offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. From start to finish, the journey was nothing short of remarkable.
To begin with, the trail itself is well-maintained and easy to navigate, making it suitable for hikers of all levels. Whether you're a seasoned trekker or simply looking to immerse yourself in nature, Jiulong Lake Huadu hike is a perfect choice. The path winds through lush forests, leading you to breathtaking viewpoints that offer panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountains and the tranquil lake.
What truly sets this hike apart is the abundance of flora and fauna along the way. From vibrant wildflowers to chirping birds, every step felt like a journey through a natural wonderland. The air was filled with a refreshing scent, and the soothing sound of rustling leaves provided a calming soundtrack to the entire experience.
One of the highlights of the Jiulong Lake Huadu hike was reaching the lake itself. The crystal-clear waters shimmered under the sunlight, inviting me to take a moment to pause and appreciate the beauty of nature. I even had the opportunity to dip my feet in the cool water, which was both invigorating and rejuvenating.
Throughout the hike, I encountered friendly fellow hikers, all of whom shared a mutual appreciation for the great outdoors. The sense of camaraderie and the exchange of stories and tips added an extra layer of enjoyment to the journey.

Stunning oasis in a concrete jungle 🌿🏙️🌸
Lianhuashan Park.
This is my favourite spot in Shenzhen, a beautiful park with stunning views of the city. Easily accessible by metro station (Children’s palace & Lianhuacan station) plenty of bus routes and a bridge over from Upperhills mall.
The park features a statue to Chinese Leader Deng Xiaoping who helped create the special economic zone that has helped Shenzhen propel itself onto the world stage. As one of the fastest growing cities in history this is the perfect place to take in the view of the city, it spreads out as far as the eye can see and all the cities landmarks are in view.
If you come up in the evening you can see the city lit up and if you're very lucky or plan well you can watch one of the cities famous light shows from the park.
There are plenty of toilets, vending machines and shade for picnics - but on weekends and public holidays the park can become very very busy so best to visit weekend mornings or weekdays if you can.
If you’re only in Shenzhen for a few days this is a must see, trying to take this city in on foot is hard - but seeing it from this vantage point is something you’ll never forget.

The overall layout of Yuntai Garden combines Eastern and Western architectural art, showing an ingenious garden style. The wide steps facing the gate are made of glass. The upper part of the steps is the shining lake, and the ring lights at the bottom of the lake are clear and identifiable. Liwan Lake Park is comprised of Xiaocui Lake, Yucui Lake, Ruyi Lake and Wuxiu Lake. On the grounds are many pavilions, water pavilions, terraces, porches and towers that add to the charm. It was my first time using apartment accommodations for a trip, and I haven't regretted it. This apartment style has a good location, within walking distance of the Canton Tower, malls, skyscrapers, restaurants, coffee shops, pubs, and more. Nice street view, and you can see the Canton Tower and the skyscrapers from the balcony. It's also good when you're traveling around for more than a week and you need to do your laundry. Definitely recommend it to try.
I've included a collage of pictures in case you can't find it.

We are really pleased to be here, and it's encouraging to see how the animals are cared for and maintained.
It's a fantastic safari adventure experience.
Visit an animal kingdom kindergarten to get up close and personal with the infant animals and see the cutest pandas in action.
A safari journey on wheels is also a lot of fun and interesting!
Take note, it is more affordable to purchase a ticket in advance through Trip.com than it is at the gate.
For a view, you might also ride a cable car.
