Valley of the Temples Sicily 🗺️
#timetotravel
The Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, Sicily, is a mesmerizing testament to the grandeur of ancient Greek architecture. My visit to this archaeological wonder left me in awe of the past and the enduring legacy of Greek civilization.
Strolling through the valley, I marveled at the remarkably preserved temples, each with its unique character and history. The Temple of Concordia, with its towering columns, stands as a symbol of classical beauty and perfection.
The setting, overlooking the Sicilian countryside, adds to the enchantment. As the sun sets, the golden hues bathe the temples in a warm glow, creating a magical atmosphere.
The Valley of the Temples is not just a historical site; it's a spiritual and artistic experience. It's a place that makes history come alive, and I left with a profound appreciation for the timeless beauty of ancient Greece. #agrigento #italy #sicily
Favognana island - sicily to live
The island is famous for its caves of calcarenite rock (locally known as "tufo") and the ancient fishing technique of tonnara, with the trapping and mattanza (slaughter) of bluefin tuna. It hosts the historical Tonnara di Favignana.
At most I would stay three to four days, meaning two to three nights. This should be enough time to give you an adequate visit and enough ability to see the attractions of Favignana and make wonderful memories.
is easy to say that beyond being the largest of the islands in this archipelago, this is also the liveliest and probably the most attractive. Don't get me wrong: Marettimo is wilder and beautiful, and you have the Levanzo Islands that are also amazing and beautiful, but Favignana stands out.
You can get around the island is by car, by scooter or foot. But I believe renting a scooter is for sure the best solution.
Therefore bike, both normal and electric, is the main mean of transport on the island. It is also possible to get around by other vehicles, from scooter to car. You can also opt for the tourist train or traditional private mini bus.
The most famous of the swimming spots in Favignana. According to legend, the “rossa” of the name refers to the red blood staining the crystalline waters of the cove during a battle between the Romans and Carthaginians in 241 BC. But it's hard to imagine that this place was ever anything but serene.

Endless summer beach days
Sicily is a lovely beach destination with beaches all around the corner at every little town. These beaches are laid back and accessible but keep in mind some of them are private ones.
The water is often crystal clear and the temperature is very nice. A truly Italian summer experience, heading to the beaches on a nice hot day is a relaxing and fun experience. In fact, most beaches outside of the big cities are very much an enjoyable experience. Once you head there you won’t be able to get enough!

Taormina - the pearl of Sicily
Taormina is a charming small city of Sicily, Italy. It is located on the east coast and is known as the #pearl of the island. Everything there is very colorful, cafes and restaurants looks amazing and the fool is 10 out of 10. I recommend visiting Taprmina if you are on the island 🤩 #italy #sicily #taormina
Getting there from Catania was pretty easy - there are buses each hour and also - trains.
Granita and Brioche are great choice in Bam Bar - one of the most famous cafes in the city.
Most impressive sightseeing are Teatro Antico di Taormina and Villa Comunale di Taormina.
Cultural Palermo Sicily
Palermo Sicily has beautiful architecture all around, there are markets with cheap delicious eats and €1 aperol spritz everywhere. Not too far there are mountains to hike or beaches to relax at, you get an all in one with easy travel by bus. The weather is warm as well as the sea and you won’t spend too much here. It has a mix of modern and old culture with many new shops such as zara and H&M as well as beautiful cathedrals and Sicilian markets. Don’t forget some refreshing traditional granita in the hot weather or some delicious cannoli. My personal favourites were the refreshing cactus fruits and the arincina rice Balls stuffed with delicious sauce and cheese battered and deep fried. #italy #sicily #Food

Spaggia di Mondello in Palermo, Italy 🇮🇹
Spiaggia di Mondello has a strong reputation among the locals as being one of the best touristic spots to visit in all of the city of Palermo in Sicily.
It is a great place for a swim in the summer with wide open spaces and plenty of places to eat at as well.
It is rather easy to get here following a gps and the bus routes in the city. It is not so far from the city center either but is not so far walkable to this destination so take the bus or a car.
There are many businessmen near the area selling gifts and there are shops with specific souvenirs tourists would want.
I would definitely say it is worth a visit. During my trip in the spring it was warm and still not too hot.
Definitely recommended.

Beautiful ruins - A city of temples
Founded as a Greek colony in 580 B.C., Agrigento soon became one of the leading cities in the Mediterranean world. Its wealth came from the nearby sulphur mines, saltpans, wheat plantations and olive groves.
At that time, the Greek city was known as Akragas. The famous Greek Doric temples that still remain today were all built around this time.
The Romans rebuilt the city and named it Agrigentum. The town prospered until the fall of the Roman Empire. In 1997, the site was recognised by UNESCO with World Heritage status.
You will see a string of ancient emples and various remains during your visit, all built between 510 and 430 BC. The better-preserved temples are located near the Temple of Giunone entrance. Do wear comfortable shoes as there will be a lot of walking.
Getting There - Train or Bus from Palermo
Palermo to Agrigento train services, operated by Trenitalia, depart from Palermo Centrale station. The train takes 1h 57m and costs €9 - €19. Alternatively, you can take the bus, which costs €7 - €11 and takes 2h
Attractions - String of 5 ancient greek temples
Hotels - There are many hotels Agrigento to suit all budget
Food & Restaurants - There are many restaurants to suits all budget nearby
Shopping - Souveniers shops can be found nearby the city of temples. Many shopping malls can be found in Agrigento too

#siracusa is a town on the island of #sicily and it is located on the east coast. It is really far away from Palermo - 350km and much closer to Catania airport. If you go there you will probably need to rent a car. There are many narrow streets and cathedrals around. The architecture is in the expected style for #italy

I managed to visit #palermo as part of my cruise ship trip. It is located in the #sicily island of #italy and it shows a bit different culture and architecture than most of the other places of the country. There are many churches, Parthenon, palaces and many small squares. There are also nice shopping opportunities around the place. It is easily accessible because of the cruise ship terminal and the airport nearby.

Santa Rosalia Sanctuary 🗺️
#timetotravel
The Santa Rosalia Sanctuary in Palermo, Sicily, is a hidden gem perched high above the city, offering not only a spiritual retreat but also breathtaking panoramic views. My visit to this sanctuary was a serene and inspiring experience.
The climb to the sanctuary, up the winding staircase carved into the mountain, is a pilgrimage in itself. As I reached the top, I was greeted by the serene atmosphere of the sanctuary and its chapel dedicated to Santa Rosalia, the patron saint of Palermo.
But what truly took my breath away was the sweeping vista of Palermo and the Mediterranean Sea below. It's a view that left me in awe of the natural beauty of Sicily.
Santa Rosalia Sanctuary is a place of both religious significance and natural wonder. It's a must-visit for those seeking tranquility, spirituality, and stunning views in Palermo. #italy #sicily #palermo

The small town of #taormina is located on the island of #sicily in southern #italy and is among the top attractions of the island. It offers narrow streets, wide square and beautiful sea view. Note that reaching it by car is a bit difficult and also it is hard to find available parking space. Anyway the town worth the time I spent in searching for a parking place.
