Temple of Poseidon at Sunset
Amazing experience! I booked an excursion to visit the Temple Of Poseidon at sunset! I was blown away by how magical watching the sunset was right from the temple!
There are quite long queues to get your ticket to enter but once you do there is lots of space for people to take their photographs with the sunset backdrop!
Last entry in spring is 7:15pm so ensure that you have your tickets at the ready before the but off time so that you don’t miss out!
There is a bar/restaurant and also a souvenir shop at the entrance to the temple.
I would 100% recommend visiting this attraction! If you can, at sunset!

Modern Marvel: Moxy Athens City 🇬🇷
#hotelreview
My time at Moxy Athens City was a contemporary and invigorating experience. The hotel's lively and youthful ambiance, paired with an energetic and amiable staff, created the perfect setting for a memorable stay in Athens. The compact yet chic rooms, equipped with modern amenities, offered a comfortable haven after a day of exploration.
The prime location of Moxy Athens City in the heart of the city was a standout feature, enabling easy exploration of Athens' historical and cultural gems. The rooftop bar, boasting stunning views of the Acropolis, provided a delightful retreat in the evening.
For travelers seeking a trendy, value-focused stay in Athens without compromising on style and location, Moxy Athens City is an excellent choice.

#2024wish Athens was the intellectual center of Greece. It was one of the first city-states of its time, and is still known as one of the most famous cities in the world. It was named after Athena, the goddess of wisdom and the city's patron. In 508 B.C., Athens became one of the first societies in ancient times to invent democracy. Democracy came from the Greek words, demos, meaning people, and kratein, meaning to rule. This form of government was usually held in a meeting place, which the Athenians called the Assembly. Here the citizens of Athens met monthly and discussed the affairs of state. There were no decisions made by government without first asking the Assembly.#falltrip #mytravelhacks #freehotelstay #historicallandmarks #localguides #familytrip #athens
Magnificent Pantheon
The temple known as the Parthenon was built on the Acropolis of Athens between 447 and 438 B.CE. It was part of a vast building program masterminded by the Athenian statesman Perikles. Inside the temple stood a colossal statue representing Athena, patron goddess of the city.
The statue, which no longer exists, was made of gold and ivory and was the work of the celebrated sculptor Pheidias.

The Magnificent Cemetery of Kerameikos
When visiting Athens I made sure to visit the Ancient Cemetery of Kerameikos located near the city centre of Athens and Hadrian’s Library, both locations are part of the Athens pass and is something I would advise purchasing when visiting Athens!
The site itself holds a museum you gain access to holding various sculptures and other artefacts from the Cemetery. As shown in the pictures you can see the style of gravestones utilised which in contrast to old cemeteries in the United Kingdom are completely unique.
When walking around the site you’re able to get a great view of a classic holy site located near by as well as why stands of various old buildings that surrounded the cemetery. The sizes of the houses vary and allows you to gain an idea of the architecture used as well as vision the house in all it’s originally glory.
The day I visited the cemetery of Kerameikos it was a picturesque sunny day in Athens that made the visit extra special and a personal highlight of my trip to Athens due to how underestimated the site is.
I would definitely recommend visiting!

Temple of Olympian Zeus, A Great Pitstop
When visiting Athens the various sites located in the city centre vary in size and condition, periodically throughout the year maintenance is performed to ensure the building remaining structures are as stable as possible whilst remaining as authentic as possible. On my occassion visiting the temple of Zeus it was being maintained and I can ensure you that the temple still amazed and lived up to expectations!
The site can be viewed in detail in under 30 minutes and is included in the Athens pass or entry can be bought at the entrance, when inside you’re able to walk around the ground and get a great view of Hadrian’s Arch alongside some unique interactions with turtles who walk around the area. Turtles can be found in most of the sites in Greece and for me being from the UK their presence was always a welcomed surprise.
Overall I would definitely recommend adding the Temple of Zeus to your tour when visiting Athens and taking some pictures at the ancient site!

Mount Lycabettus, The Perfect Start to Athens
When Visiting Athens one of the first things I would recommend doing is visiting Mount Lycabettus, the reason for this is you are allowed to explore the streets on the way there, enjoy the 20 minute hike up the winding path and finish with the phenomenal spectacle that is a panoramic view over Athens.
From Mount Lycabettus you are able to purchase food at different venues, one being located half way up the main path and the other being located near the top, a gift shop is also located inside the chapel at the top. Mount Lycabettus gives you a great idea of the size of Athens alongside a clear view to multiple sites which you can utilise to plan your next steps.
Visiting Mount Lycabettus is free and a car park is located nearby for easier access for those not wanting to do the 20 minute hike, would definitely recommend going as it’s a great view and it’s amazing to see the Greek flag flying proudly above.

The Stunning Library of Hadrian in Athens
The Library of Hadrian is based in the centre of Athens and near then other key attractions making a visit very easy and well worth the visit, the information displayed helps you create a clear version of the library and surrounding buildings that once stood.
The remains of the buildings are still worth marvelling at and witnessing in person, in total you’re able to spend 20 to 30 minutes in the Library of Hadrian or you can get in and out in about half of that time when visiting the site it is up to you how long you take.
Tickets are available for Purchase at the entrance or can be included as part of the Athens pass which is offered online or at the majority of sites in Athens.

Parthenon, Greece’s Main Attraction Is Great
When visiting the Parthenon you can buy a ticket at the entrance or gain access as part of a tour or having an Athens Pass, I opted for an Athens pass that allows access to various key places that are close to eachother making days exploring Athens exciting and easy.
The walk up the Parthenon is easy and takes around 10-15 minutes depending on the foot traffic, once at the Parthenon you are able to witness the huge architectural achievement that still stands today. Once at the top you are gifted to an amazing view with the Greek flag flying high creating a real amazing moment that for me was a key highlight of my trip.
When visiting Greece visiting the Parthenon is on everyone’s bucket list and I would recommend the same, definitely check it out!

Zappeion Hall & Park, Athens Hidden Gems
Photos from my experience visiting the Zappeion Hall in Athens! The surrounding area is fantastic full of diverse trees, flowers and wildlife. During my visit I particularly enjoyed visiting the Fish and Turtle ponds located towards the back of the Zappeion Hall. The ponds are beautiful and allow you to catch a breathe and relax especially if you manage to find a seat on a nearby bench.
The Zappeion Hall is huge in stature with gigantic columns covering the entrance, inside you’re met with architecture that has been perceived very well and remains in great condition. In conclusion I would recommend anyone in Athens to visit the Zappeion Hall and especially the surrounding parks to get a nice change of scenery and pace.

Hephaisteion: The well-preserved temple
Temple of Hephaestus is a doric temple and the best preserved temple I have seen during my trip to Athens. Hephaisteion rises on a hill on the western edge of the ancient Agora.
This marble temple was dedicated to the god of blacksmithing.
To get there was a bit tricky as google maps took us to Thissio Park but you can’t visit the temple from the park. You should reach the ancient Agora of Athens by foot from Monastiraki Square.
The metro station "Monastiraki" is only a 7-minute walk from the site.
If you buy the €30 combo Acropolis ticket this is one of the seven sites you can visit.
On the site you can see the statues of Socrates and Confucius, you can visit the Stoa of Attalos, an ancient portico that served as a meeting place and market hall, now it’s a Museum of Ancient Agora.

Greece No 1 tourist Spot - The Parthenon
The most visited site in Athens - The Parthenon , i would recommend you all to sign up a walking tour with guide because its rich history is fascinating. The temple was dedicated to the goddess of Athena - protector of Athens and been stood on the very ground since 5th century BC.
Recommend to go early in the morning to skip the crowds - we went during the early morning right after they open and took the side gate (beside Acropolis museum) , it was fast as we purchased the ticket online. Winter time is slow season in Greece thus we took some quality photos without being flooded with humans
A must visit attraction and give yourself plenty of time. We spent almost 3 hours there.

Room with a Parthenon view (Athens, Greece)
This is the view from my apartment balcony. Hello Parthenon in Athens! 🇬🇷🏛
Having a great view is one of my travel
indulgences now that I am of a certain age and inclination… when before I would scrimp on a few items to economise and stretch my travel
dollar, I would now gladly pay for to add better value to my trip. Experience and atmosphere is certainly worth paying for, especially for the traveller that O am now… 😎
For the same reason, I chose to pay for a caldera-view accommodation in Santorini. Comment if you want to see it!

Street Art in Athens, Greece 🇬🇷
Many people opt to go to Mykonos or the islands. during a stay in Greece but if you happen to have extra time during your trip, be sure to take a walk around Athens and observe the many amounts of street art posted around the city.
Athens is a city with a distinct culture to it, and many younger arts may create art to tell a story or explain situations arising in their society. Many of the art pieces are loud, colorful, and vibrant. Walking around the city, we had a good time finding art and talking about the meanings behind each piece whether obvious or not.
Athens is easily reachable through the airport and the city is rather walkable as well.
Hope you guys enjoy it as much as we did.

Temple of Poseidon, Greece 🇬🇷
This was easily one of the best places I went to when I was in Greece and has been a personal favorite of mine on my international travels in general.
The wide open spaces and clean air coupled with the serenity of nature and sounds of the water with boats passing by ever so often made for a relaxing day here.
It is easily reachable by bus and often tourist groups travel here. Be sure to bring snacks and other related foods or liquids so that you won’t have to pay extra at the nearby shop.
Seeing the architecture was fascinating and luckily they had security ropes and barriers set up too so that people would not be tempted to walk too close to the edges and fall off.
If you happen to be in Athens Greece, take a quick day trip here. You won’t regret it.

Home of green parrots and turtles in Athens
The best place in Athens to hide from daytime heat with pleasure!
The National Garden is in 10 minutes by foot from
Omonia square. It is big green park, be sure you will not miss it) There are a lot of different trees, plants and flowers as well as lawn where you can rest in shades. Or you can visit a lake inside a park to feed ducks, but unfortunately lake area is closed for reconstruction now. Hope they will done it soon.
For my surprise the park is populated with green parrots, they are literally everywhere! but it is difficult to catch them with camera, they are mor timorous than pigeons.
And if you are lucky, there is a chance to find a turtles in the wild there, they are kind and social, keep some food with you to feed them:)
Have a nice stay in Athens!

Fire has been a symbol of the Olympic games since ancient times. Every four years, before the athletes gather for the games, the emblematic torch makes a long journey to the new host city from the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens—the site of the first modern Olympic games where the tradition began more than a hundred years ago.
The spectacular Panathenaic Stadium remains one of the most popular tourist attractions and is a shining beacon of modern Athens. Following several transformations over its long history, it eventually became the home of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 and remains the only stadium in the world built entirely out of marble.
Cost of entrance ticket is €5. Do take note of the opening time if you plan to visit.
Opening times:

The great Parthenon in the Acropolis
Amazing trip to the acropolis. This is definitely “must visit” place in Greece. You will be exited of seeing all this huge ancient buildings made of pure marble. Big respects to the team who are working on the reconstruction of the sites, you can see a big jog they have done where the “Snow White” marble parts are, these are the new ones.
I highly recommend to enter the acropolis from the main entrance despite huge lines for tickets and to the entrance also!
After you enter go direct to Parthenon and to the view square with Greek flag to see the Olymp and little part of stadium, after the best way is to go down and see the theater and head to exit! have a nice trip and stay in Athens

Unforgettable visit to Acropolis of Athens!
Located in Athens, this beautifully preserved historical site are located on top of hill and it can easily reached by tourist. Slowly strolling around the site, I am simply speechless and amazed by the richness of Greek history.
At first, we are greeted by the Theatre of Dionysus Eleuthereus. After enjoy a short seating in the theater, we continue our walk to Odeon of Herodes Atticus. Followed by Pandroseion and finally we reached the Parthenon! No words can describe my feeling when we saw Parthenon. Humbled and totally speechless! We took a great moments just to read all of greek historical story and enjoyed the view!

Acropolis of Athens
The Acropolis of Athens is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens and contains the remains of several ancient buildinhs of great architectural and historical significance, the most famous being the Parthenon. The word Acropolis is from the Greek words ἄκρον (akron, "highest point, extremity") and πόλις (polis, "city"). The term acropolis is generic and there are many other acropoleis in Greece During ancient times the Acropolis of Athens was known also more properly as Cecropia, after the legendary serpent-man, Cecrops, the supposed first Athenian king.

Stani
Address - Marikas Kotopouli 10, Athina 104 32, Greece
Ambiance/Facilities - 3
Highlights - Desserts
Avg. Price per Person - €12
Rating - 5/5
You haven’t tasted Greek yogurt until you’ve tried the pure pleasure of Stani sheep’s milk yogurt. Oozing with honey and topped with walnuts, it’s almost as thick as clotted cream. The last of the many traditional dairies that once thrived in Athens.
Stani has been in the same family since it opened in 1931. The interior has barely changed since the 1960s. Most people come for a fortifying bowl of yogurt or diet-busting anthogala (fior di latte), which is basically a tall glass of whipped cream.
Stani is also the place to try classic syrup-soaked desserts like loukoumades (miniature deep-fried doughnuts) and galaktoboureko (crisp filo pastry filled with wobbly, creamy custard). They do savory cheese and spinach pies too—a very good snack to go.

Syntagma Square
Syntagma Square is the central square of Athens. It is located in front of the 19th century Old Royal Palace housing the Greek Parliameny since 1934. Syntagma Square is the most important square of modern Athens from both a historical and social point of view, at the heart of commercial activity and Greek politics. The name Syntagma refers to the neighbourhood surrounding the square. The metro station underneath the square, where lines 2 and 3 connect, along with the tram terminal and the numerous bus stops, constitutes one of the busiest transport hubs in the country.
Do come early to enjoy the highlight of Syntagma Square which is the changing of guards ceremony. #syntagmasquare #athens #greece
