Raffael's in St. Julian's Bay, Malta
At this point I was awake for 24 hours, still feeling very awake but in need of a coffee break to get that extra energy and keep going with the day.
I was just looking around for a nice and quiet place to do it. To enjoy my first coffee in Malta and when I saw Raffael it seemed the right choice.
Other than the tourist prices (that is normal for the area)
I recommend you to stop by.

Popeye’s Village - Malta!
Amazing experience at Popeye’s Village, Malta. The set of the famous cartoon turned Robin Williams film. You are able to swim in the sea on set with Zumba and dance activities in the water. There is also inflatable obstacle courses for you to jump on. Entry fee is less than €20 for students and a fun day out. Loads of memorabilia and even a cinema screen on the set and you can be part of a film! #malta #Popeye #film #mytripvlog
Malta, Crystal Blue Waters and Adventures
When visiting Malta the island offers a variety of tourist attractions ranching from exploring the cities, hiking the coast lines or finding hidden attractions. The city I stayed in was St Paul’s Bay which had a couple of food options but was a great location with hiking routes to different towns that had better options. Public Transport is very easy to use in Malta and can be used to get around from town to town.
When visiting Malta I would recommend exploring the coastlines as various World War 2 look out points and bunkers are located across the island creating a constant intrigue around what you will see next, another point of interest is PopEye’s Village the intact filming location. Malta’s coastlines and blue waters will satisfy any beach lover and provides scenery unique to the island. Finally taking a trip to Valetta is a must and the various churches Malta has to offer is also intriguing.

Mdina, the Silent City of Malta
Mdina is the second most famous city of Malta, dating back to the 8th century BC. It is known as "The Silent City" of Malta, due to the fact that it was once the capital of the country, but later the capital was moved into Vittoriosa, leaving Mdina so unhabited that it started being considered as a "ghost" city.
The uniqueness of Mdina is, of course, its world-famous medieval and baroque architecture and atmosphere. Being built as a fort, the narrow streets with the tall buildings in orange hues definitely create a mystery vibe and offers countless postcard corners and photo opportunities. The highlight is the Mdina Gate, the entrance of the fort, which the Game of Thrones fans will recognize for sure!
Spend at least two or three hours wandering around the fortified walls, admiring the architecture and the churches, and don't forget to pass by the Blue Door of Mdina, a picturesque spot with a blue door and a pink bougainvillea above it! For a coffee or drink, sit at Fontanella Tea Garden offering amazing views to the valley below!

The most picturesque city of Malta
When you think about Malta, your first thought is definitely Valletta, its famous capital. Not without a reason I would say! Valletta is an experience on its own, and you can’t miss it during your trip to Malta!
Its narrow medieval streets with the cute colourful balconies, the vintage car and the beautiful yellow and orange hues give a vibe that you cannot find anywhere else.
When you arrive in Valletta, the first thing you have to do is visit the Upper Barrakka Gardens, which offer endless views to the Grand Harbour and the city below. You can also witness the Saluting Battery event where the cannons take off!
When you are tired from walking around the cute streets, the best idea is to sit for an Aperol or a coffee at the rooftop of the Embassy Valletta hotel. There you can find a gorgeous swimming pool along with the best city views!

No better place to stay in Malta!
You can find no better place for your accommodation in Malta than the amazing Hilton Malta! I visited with a friend during March and we were more than satisfied with the overall experience we had there. Perfectly situated in St. Julian's, all the main cities of Malta were easily accessible either by taxis which you could find at the hotel's doorstep, or by public bus which is a 3 minute walk.
We were assigned a room on the 11th floor and the views to the sea and the pools were just indescribable. The room was huge, with an even huger bathroom, having both a shower and a circular tub. The cleanliness was impeccable, and the cleaning staff even came by twice each day, morning and afternoon!
The hotel itself is like a small town, very large with everything you might ask for. The breakfast selection covered literally any preference, and the hotel staff was more than kind and welcoming. Finally I cannot miss to mention the amazing views over the marina, which are not to be missed. We will definitely come back!

Maltese history at the Saluting battery
One of the most popular attractions in Malta is the saluting battery in the capital, Valletta. It fires two rounds each day, with one at noon and the other at 4pm. It is an interesting reminder of the extensive history this small island nation has!
The origins of this site go back approximately 500 years when the Ottoman empire attempted to invade. It is an interesting site to visit and highly recommended!

Golden sunsets at Golden Bay in Malta
On a recent visit to Malta, I went to Golden Bay for the incredible sunsets. Located in the north of the main island, it offers stunning views over the Mediterranean towards Italy.
The beach itself is beautiful and has vendors offering jet skiing, yachting, and paragliding for the adventurous among us! There is also a hike that provides a panaroma over the beach.

Beautiful picture spot!
Went for the village, but stayed only for the view!

High Tea @ The Phoenicia a must in Valetta!
Hidden in the heart of The Phoenicia Malta is the Palm Court Lounge with its comfy sofas and welcoming décor. It is the perfect place to relax with a tea and heavenly homemade pastry.
For a modest price, we enjoyed a selection of finger cut sandwiches, freshly baked scones with Devonshire clotted cream and strawberry preserve, also an irresistible selection of pastries and teacakes, all freshly prepared.
A choice of 14 different types of JING loose-leaf tea are available.
Would definitely go back to this gem!#malta#hightea

Blue Lagoon - Malta
Comino Island just off Malta is hands-down one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen in terms of the blue waters and it still has that untouched island feel with relatively few inhabitants. You can spend a morning exploring this island and then relax on one of the beaches with a pina colada later in the afternoon. Regular boats visit here from Malta so it’s a must do if you’re visiting! #malta #passionpassport
Crystal clear waters, turquoise-aquamarine hues, and salty air are what summers are made of right!!
Summer in the Mediterranean is pretty amazing. What’s not to love? The long, sun-drenched days melt away into fiery sunsets and cool yet lively nights, and time spent relaxing isn’t just accepted!! 🤩🏝💓☀️🥰

Water is always blue here in Sliema, Malta
Sliema is a resort town on the northeast coast of Malta's main island. It is also a major commercial and residential area and most importantly, easily accessible on a short ferry ride from Valletta. The ferry ride only takes 15 minutes and it is also quite frequent.
After arriving at the Sliema ferry terminal, we walked from one side of the water to the other and arrived at the Sliema beach. Even though it was mid-October, the sun was shining brightly and residents were spending quality family time by the sea. I bet the blue water always looks so amazing all year round because let's be honest, I cannot imagine having grey sky here in Malta.

Olive trees in Malta
It is not difficult to spot olive trees while strolling the sidewalks of Valletta in the autumn. In fact, olive trees have a long history of existence in the island of Malta as they had been introduced by the Phoenician seafarers in the 1st millenium B.C.
I was here in mid-October and it was just the beginning of autumn and the olives are still not too ripe. But soon, the olives will be ripe and scattered all over the ground.
If you are in Malta during this time, you can certainly look out for olive picking experiences and sometimes they are for good cause too!

Valletta in October 2022
Parliament House and Courts of Justice in the capital of Malta are two important buildings, because they represent the legislative and judiciary branches of the nation.
The former is the meeting place of the Parliament of Malta and this new building constructed between 2011 and 2015 is controversial because of the modern design and the high cost. Many have compared the cladding design to a cheese grater or a dovecote. I certainly do think it looks unique though.
The Courts of Justice building does not look extraordinarily special as it is built in the neoclassical style in late 1960s. It is worth mentioning because the trial for the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia took place during my visit to Malta on the 14 October 2022.

Il-Belt Valletta, Malta
While in the capital of Malta, I had encountered the word "Il-Belt" so many times. In the end, I only found out that Valletta is also known as Il-Belt. It is the southernmost capital of Europe and only has a population of less than 6000 people.
This small city is so beautiful that the whole city is named as the UNESCO World Heritage Centre. While here, I enjoyed walking aimlessly in the old town of Valletta so much. One just cannot stop being amazed at the architecture of its buildings and monuments. Later, I found out that this style is called the Maltese Baroque architecture and was developed during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Relax at Malta Int. Airport This Fall
While flying budget airlines, sometimes you have to get to the airport at wee hour. However, thanks to airport lounges, now I can always have a good rest and enjoy my hearty breakfast while waiting for the next flight.
My Ryanair flight from Malta to Marseille would depart at 6.50 a.m. and after witnessing the summer travel chaos at several European airports, I would prefer to be at the airport at least 3 hours before the departing time.
La Vallete Club is the airport lounge at Malta International Airport and it is open 24 hours (believe it or not, but not every airport lounge is open 24 hours). There are plenty of seats and they are comfortable too! There are also many services available such as meet and greet, special occasion package, chauffeur service, etc. and you can book them in advance.

Upper Barakka Garden
Located on the southeastern part of Valletta, there is a lovely space for everyone to enjoy the greenery. There are Lower Barakka Garden and Upper Barakka Garden.
Upper Barakka Garden is a lovely place to just sit down, sip coffee and enjoy the view of the three old cities, namely Vittoriosa, Senglea and Cospicua. The three cities have existed even prior to the Middle Ages.
It is the highest point of the city walls and therefore one can get a really good panoramic view of the city, staring at the moving ships and observing the water flows, in the Valletta Harbour. Just another day in Malta.

Brunch and dinner at The Black Egg
Malta has a number of excellent places to eat. The Black Egg in Ta' Xbiex is one of them. Refining the brunch concept is the main mission. The result is a nice glass of Prosseco with light meals such as a poached black egg. Indeed, The Black Egg. Of course you shouldn't be here for brunch alone. You will certainly enjoy yourself here in the evening.
With a beautiful view of the sea and the many pleasure boats that lie just outside the capital Valletta, the terrace of The Black Egg is very attractive. Of course it is also pleasant to sit inside, partly due to the stylish interior. It is clear that the tasteful creativity of the owners can be found not only in the kitchen, but also beyond.
Of course you start with an aperitif. The helpful staff ensures quick service and offers some tips. Among the Classic Cocktails we opt for the Negroni del Professore and the Black Egg Tiki for the Signature Cocktails. The Negroni needs no further explanation. The Black Egg Tiki is a house cocktail of rum, campari, orange elixir, pineapple juice and bitters. Two toppers!
Various dishes are on the menu. The cook works with seasonal products. As a result, the menu may change from time to time. One certitude is in any case the 'catch of the day'. Fish comes in all shapes and forms on the island, but don't forget to ask the waiter beforehand. Naturally, fresh calamari fritti is also on the menu at The Black Egg. Recommended! With the main courses you always have a choice of pastas, meat dishes and fish dishes. With an adapted wine, this is undoubtedly a direct hit. Any space left? To round off the tasty experience in style, you can choose from a few desserts.

Valleta-- the administrative unit and capital of Malta. It is located in the main island.

Blue Grotto from the sea
On holiday in Malta? Don't forget to visit the south of the island. Iconic places like Blue Grotto and Marsaxlokk cannot be ignored. Take a taxi, rental car or bus and preferably travel to these attractions on Sundays.
Attractions in Marsaxlokk include Parish Church and St. Lucian Tower. Just outside the village you can visit St. Peter's Pool. Ideal for diving and snorkelling, but we opt for Blue Grotto in Wied iz-Zurrieq. Also a nice place for diving and snorkelling, but above all to take boat trips and enjoy the breathtaking nature.
Because of the rough sea, seven caves were formed in the rocks. This is how Blue Grotto was born. The sunlight makes for a real spectacle, especially on nice days, but you only get a good picture of the entire cave system during a boat trip. Blue Grotto Boat Service will take you for a short 20 minute trip along the South Maltese coastline. Recommended!

South-Malta on Sunday
On holiday in Malta? Don't forget to visit the south of the island. Iconic places like Blue Grotto and Marsaxlokk cannot be ignored. Take a taxi, rental car or bus and preferably travel to these attractions on Sundays.
There are plenty of fishing villages to be found in Malta, but the main fishing village is undoubtedly Marsaxlokk. A long promenade provides beautiful views of the sea and the colorful fishing boats. These traditional boats are also called Luzzu and are still in daily use. The painted eyes at the front of the boats are striking. They should protect the fishermen.
On Sunday, Marsaxlokk's pressure#staycation barometer will go up. The weekly fish market is then clearly indicated in the agenda of tourists and locals. Even the chefs of famous eateries come here to choose their fish. It is almost impossible to get fresher and local fish restaurants are cleverly responding to this. Do not hesitate and ask for the 'catch of the day'. The catch of the day will be proudly presented to you on a large plate. Something for everyone!

The village of Popeye's located on the main island of #malta is one of the kind tourist attraction. It offers relatively small beach even without sand but the thematic buildings are so amazing. You can find everything from the animation here. Even newly-made it looks so authentic and definitely worth a visit. There is also a public bus that runs nearby.
