I will introduce to you all where I usually will go to eat when returning back to hometown in Hainan, though I’m not from Haikou and from Wanning but Haikou is a place not to missed out because of the food.
Basically from young to old people, Hainanese can’t leave the food called “炸炸” (direct translate is “fried-fried) actually is similar to Loklok, but different thing from loklok is they will remove the skewers for you and drizzle the food with their special sauce. (Every shop will has its own specialty sauce).
So my top 1 to intro for zha zha will be

The Sofitel hotel is located in Longhua district, specifically in the commercial area of Haikou. The restaurant is situated on the 35th floor which hosts amazing panoramic views, facing Evergreen park and the ocean.
The buffet offers a large selection for all tastes from seafood, salads, delicious desserts, Chinese food to Western food. Undoubtedly, it is one of the best buffets that I have tried so far in Haikou, the quality is exceptional and the staff very professional.

The restaurant also offers buffet dinner, and the seafood section is particularly delicious.

Getting There - Haiku is very well connected by planes and high speed rail.
Attractions - It's a nice city, full of coconuts, parks and beautiful beaches. There are also hot spring areas and Geopark with a vulcano.
Hotels - The hotels are everywhere.
Food & Restaurants - There are many seafood markets around at night and plenty of restaurants during the day.
Shopping - On every corner you can find a coconut stand, for something bigger you can always visit a shopping mall or convenience stores.

Haikou is the capital city on the island of Hainan and is coastal with various beaches. There is an old town that has a lot of culture and nice buildings which shouldn’t really take longer than a day to explore. The city is smaller than other Chinese cities but there are a lot of areas that have restaurants and bars catering to both expats and local people. This area is a traditional but very picturesque part of beautiful Haikou city. Here you can walk along the river and take stunning photos of Bell Tower. You can enjoy the cooling breeze and then walk to the old street for some delicious snacks.
Tip: Coming at night will be cooler and bustling. Worth checking out.

Nice market to visit at night in Haikou. The market provides a large variety of stands where you can try delicious food, buy some toys or accessories, sweets, pets…It is really cool, the only thing is that the market is not always there, they just do it for a week to promote some shops, so if you are interested of visiting it you need to pay attention to the specific date.

Great restaurant on the 43th floor with wonderful views. It’s perfect for special occasions. The service is nice and the food is amazing, also the staff is friendly although they don’t speak English but the menu is still in English. Highly recommended!

A beautiful beach hotel in Haikou with excellent ocean views and superb service. The breakfast and dinner here is brilliant and offers very high quality food.
Nearby there is a nice beach with pleasant walks. There is also a nice shipping mall within walking distance.

Nice village to explore in Haikou✨
📍Rongtang Village, Haikou, Hainan.
Rongtang village is an ancient lava rock village located in Haikou, approximately 20km away from the city centre. The spot is almost abandoned although we talked to some locals still living close to the area.
It is a nice experience exploring the different houses and paths. Also, there are some stunning caves to visit too. Definitely Rongtang village is a must see in Haikou.

Nice outdoor activity to do in Haikou. You can enjoy the beautiful views of the bund, library and century bridge on the right and also you can contemplate the gorgeous sunset. You can finish your day with the stunning view of the skyline on the left. Highly recommended!

Guanhaitai is a beautiful landmark located in the west area of Haikou city, specifically between Holiday Beach and Xixiu Beach. You can enjoy the amazing sunset on the beach and after you can walk around the area. There are some stands selling beverages, food and snacks. Also, the spot has areas to play badminton, basketball, running…The only drawback is that it's crowded at sunset time but still worth visiting!

Evergreen Park, also known as Wanlu Park/garden is the largest park in the city. It is located in Longhua district. The park is full of greenery with an amazing landscape, also it has a small lake where the skyline is reflected at night , which is impressive.
You can visit the park anytime, it’s always opened and you can spend around 2-3 hours exploring it. There are some shops, a small amusement park and some local restaurants too.

At the Haikou Volcano Park you can hike to the top of an extinct volcano. From the top it’s an easy way down to the crater. Inside the crater you will see lots of green tropical plants.
