Trogir travel guide and discussion

This curated itinerary highlights Croatia’s most captivating spots: Trogir Old Town and the historic heart of Dubrovnik. With a coastline that takes your breath away, paired with classic architecture and a rich cultural vibe, this route will not disappoint whether you are a history buff or a photography enthusiast! 🇭🇷 🗓️ Recommended Itinerary Day 1: Krka National Park (scenic detour) > Trogir Old Town Day 2: Coastal Drive > Dubrovnik Old City Trogir Old Town (Unnamed Road, Ul. Gradska vrata 6, 21220, Trogir, Croatia | Open 24/7) Trogir is an enchanting island city recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. A walk through the old town feels like traveling back centuries; it is filled with medieval charm, cobblestone alleys, Romanesque churches, and Baroque squares. Quaint cafes are tucked away throughout, making it perfect for slow exploration. We highly recommend visiting in the morning for the best light and to avoid the crowds. Must-Visit Checkpoints: · St. Lawrence Cathedral: The bell tower offers a refreshing panoramic view of the entire town. · Town Square: A cultural landmark steeped in history. · City Wall Walk: Experience the unique atmosphere of a city embraced by the sea. Day 1 Travel Tips: · Suggest reserving at least half a day for a leisurely stroll. · Avoid leather shoes as the stone ground can be slippery; sneakers are much more comfortable. · The old town is compact; mobile navigation is sufficient to ensure you won't get lost. · For dining, choose local restaurants in the side alleys; the seafood rice is incredibly fresh. Dubrovnik Old City (Dubrovnik, Croatia 20000 | Open 24/7) Known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic," the Old City of Dubrovnik has always been a top destination for travelers. Towering walls surround picturesque stone houses, squares, and narrow lanes, making visitors feel as though they have stepped into a scene from Game of Thrones. The city becomes even more romantic at night when the elegant lights come on. Must-Visit Checkpoints: · City Walls Walk: The full walk takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. You can overlook the city and the azure sea along the way—perfect for stunning photos. · Onofrio's Fountain: A Romanesque design that is a must-see landmark. · Stradun: The main street, perfect for shopping, grabbing gelato, or a romantic stroll. · Fort Lovrijenac: An observation point with views of the old city and the rugged coastline. Day 2 Travel Tips: · Walking the walls in the morning or at dusk means fewer crowds. In summer, be mindful of sun protection and bring plenty of water. · The streets in the old city can be quite steep; lightweight shoes are recommended. · If you want to take photos without the crowds, try exploring the side streets and alleys. · The atmosphere at night is wonderful; it’s worth staying to see the city lights. Transportation Suggestions: To get from Trogir to Dubrovnik, we recommend a self-drive or a private transfer along the Adriatic Highway. The views along the way are spectacular, and you can stop for photos at your leisure! If you have more time, buses are also available, though walking is the primary way to get around the cities themselves. Each ancient city has its own unique character. Spend one day savoring the slow-paced artistic life of Trogir, and conclude with the grand historical scale of Dubrovnik the next. It’s the perfect way to soak in all the Mediterranean charm!

Rovinj, Opatija, Trogir, Lovran, Zagreb or Rijeka—which one would you explore first? 👇✨ #croatia

September is the hidden gem of months for visiting Croatia. The scorching summer heat and massive crowds gradually recede, with temperatures hovering between 19‑27°C. The sea remains perfect for snorkeling, prices drop, and coastal towns regain their laid-back charm. Without the July and August congestion, the sun is gentle and inviting—ideal for urban wandering, island hopping, and hiking through national parks. Here is a complete 7-day itinerary featuring historic old towns, stunning islands, and world-heritage waterfalls. 📌 Unique Highlights of September ▪️ The Adriatic sea temperature remains comfortable for swimming and snorkeling. ▪️ Crowds are significantly thinner, meaning no long queues for the Dubrovnik Walls or Plitvice Lakes. ▪️ It’s grape harvest season, with coastal wineries open for local red and white wine tastings. ▪️ Long daylight hours and deep sunset hues make for incredibly photogenic coastal scenery. Day 1 | Zagreb: A Stroll Through the Inland Capital’s Old Town Arrive in Zagreb in the morning. Wander through the Upper Town’s Stone Gate and visit St. Mark’s Church to admire its iconic mosaic roof. Explore medieval alleys and open-air cafes to soak in the relaxed Central European atmosphere. In the afternoon, visit art galleries and markets, and sample local desserts, ham, and cheese. Stay overnight in the city to adjust to the time zone and prepare for the coastal journey ahead. Day 2 | Plitvice Lakes National Park (World Heritage Site) Dedicate the entire day to Plitvice. By September, the lakeside trees begin to show hints of autumn gold. Walk along the wooden boardwalks through cascading lakes and interconnected waterfalls, where the water glows in surreal shades of blue and green. There are paths for both the Upper and Lower Lakes; you can choose an easy flat walk or a more intensive hiking route. Pro tip: Enter early to avoid tour groups. The morning mist over the lake is truly ethereal. In the evening, drive south toward the coast. Day 3 | Split: The Ancient City of Diocletian’s Palace Arrive in Split, the major hub of the Adriatic coast. The entire Old Town is a Roman-era World Heritage site, where residents still live within the ruins of a thousand-year-old palace. Weave through the palace corridors, underground cellars, and the Cathedral of St. Domnius. At dusk, climb to the coastal heights to overlook the red rooftops blending with the deep blue sea. At night, the Old Town alleys come alive with restaurants—try the fresh seafood, fish stew, and local lavender liqueur. Day 4 | From Split: Island Hopping to Brač and Zlatni Rat Take a morning ferry to Brač Island. Visit the famous Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn) beach, a narrow spit of pebbles that changes shape with the wind—an iconic sight of the Adriatic. Cycle through small villages on the island and visit local olive oil and wine estates. Relax on a beach lounger or take a shallow swim, enjoying the gentle September sea breeze. Return to Split by boat at twilight. Day 5 | Dubrovnik: Wall Walks and the "Game of Thrones" City Arrive at the "Pearl of the Adriatic," Dubrovnik. The highlight is the walk along the Old Town walls. Circling the city atop these walls offers breathtaking views: red-tiled roofs on one side and the endless blue sea on the other. With the September crowds thinned out, you won't have to wait in long lines. Stroll down the Stradun (main street), visit the Old Port and fortresses, or simply space out at a seaside cafe. The play of light and shadow on the walls at sunset is the ultimate photo op of the trip. Day 6 | Around Dubrovnik: Lokrum Island + Coastal Road Take a short ferry ride to Lokrum Island in the morning to explore its forests, ancient ruins, and small saltwater lake in peace. In the afternoon, drive or take a bus along the coastal highway to admire the jagged cliffs and hunt for secluded coves. Return to the Old Town harbor in the evening for a seaside dinner while watching the sunset. Day 7 | Leisurely Stroll in Dubrovnik & Departure Slow down the pace on your final day. Shop for souvenirs in the Old Town: lavender products, local wine, honey, and handcrafted silver jewelry. Take one last look at the Adriatic from the coastal path, ending your journey with a sense of calm. 💡 Practical Tips for September Travel ▪️ Short sleeves are fine during the day on the coast, but the sea breeze can get chilly in the evening, so carry a light jacket. ▪️ Temperatures in the Plitvice mountain region are 3‑5 degrees lower than the coast; long sleeves are recommended for hiking to protect against both the chill and mosquitoes. ▪️ Ferry schedules for island hopping begin to decrease in late September; always check the timetable before heading out. ▪️ It is recommended to walk the Dubrovnik walls after 3 PM to avoid the midday sun and catch the sunset. ▪️ The cobblestone streets of the old towns are uneven; comfortable, non-slip flat shoes are a must throughout the trip.

Where the ancient beech and pine forests of the Dinaric Alps fracture into sixteen interconnected basins, dawn arrives softly. The thunderous, multi-toned symphony of countless hidden cascades breaks the silence before the sun appears. Mist drifts across the upper lakes, weaving between moss-covered travertine barriers that rise from the canyon depths like organic dams suspended in a dream. Beneath them, the impossibly clear, mineral-rich pools shimmer with the first light of day, while old forest canopies send thin trails of dew into the crisp mountain air. Here, water does not merely flow through the landscape; it sculpts it. Calcified moss surrounds rushing currents, mist softens distance, and varying shades of deep turquoise and azure blur the boundary between earth and sky. The entire scene—continuously growing and changing through centuries of natural chemical magic—feels less like a national park and more like a primordial fairytale realm slowly coming to life. As the day unfolds, the sun pierces the deep limestone gorges, beginning to reveal the intricate maze of wooden boardwalks, subterranean caves, and veil-like waterfalls that make Plitvice unique. Yet it is often those earliest moments—when low fog, soaring forest birds, and untouched stillness share the same space—that linger longest in memory. 📍 Location: Plitvice Lakes National Park (Plitvička Jezera) 🏞️ Region: Lika-Senj and Karlovac Counties, Central Croatia 🌿 Known for: 16 cascading lakes, natural travertine (tufa) barriers, vibrant karst water chemistry, UNESCO World Heritage status ✨ Highlights: Veliki Slap (The Great Waterfall), Kozjak Lake boat crossing, Sastavci cascades 📸 Best moment: Early morning from the canyon overlooks, when the first light hits the lower lakes and the water shifts from dark jade to brilliant electric blue. Some landscapes resemble paradise. Plitvice feels as though paradise briefly settled among the emerald waters, and never quite left. 🌲🌊🧚🏼♂️✨

Stepping onto the tiny island of Trogir feels less like visiting a town and more like opening a beautifully carved, medieval jewelry box. Set on a small island wedged between the Croatian mainland and the larger island of Čiovo, this UNESCO World Heritage site is a masterclass in stone architecture, earning it the nickname "The Stone Dollhouse." What makes Trogir entirely magical is its incredible concentration of historic styles. Within a space you can easily walk across in ten minutes, Greek, Roman, Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque layers are stacked seamlessly on top of one another. The town’s crown jewel is the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, featuring a 13th-century stone portal so intricately carved with lions, saints, and foliage that you could stare at it for an hour and still spot new details. Beyond the grand monuments, the real joy of Trogir is getting lost in its labyrinth of narrow, polished stone alleys. Because the entire old town is pedestrian-only, the only sounds you hear are the echoes of footsteps against smooth limestone, the low murmur of conversation from hidden courtyard restaurants, and the occasional strain of traditional Dalmatian singing. As you weave through the maze, the tight stone corridors suddenly open up to a wide, palm-fringed waterfront promenade. Here, the imposing Kamerlengo Fortress stands guard at the water's edge, looking out over superyachts docked against medieval walls. Trogir doesn't demand a rushed itinerary or a long checklist. It invites you to cross the small stone bridge, slow your pace to a crawl, and watch 2,300 years of history catch the warm Mediterranean sun. #travel #travel2026 #seascapes #beachlife #croatia #split #trogir

Trogir, the most beautiful town encountered during a trip to Croatia, is an ancient city located on a small island. It is refreshing, clean, charming, vibrant, and less crowded with tourists. In 1997, the entire town was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known as a remarkable example of continuous urban history, Trogir boasts over 2,300 years of history, having been influenced by Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Medieval Venice, and later by France and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Its narrow streets are lined with churches and historical buildings from various eras. 💒 St. Lawrence Cathedral: This cathedral features unique architecture. The main structure, completed in the 13th century, is Romanesque, while the bell tower, built in the 14th century, is Gothic with intricate lace-like patterns reflecting strong Venetian influence. Visitors can climb the bell tower to enjoy sea breezes and a panoramic view of the town and bay. The portal is adorned with exquisite carvings, depicting figures like Adam and Eve, animals such as lions and wild boars, and mythical creatures like centaurs and mermaids, all vividly and playfully rendered. The island also offers delightful culinary experiences, including sweet Croatian white wine and deliciously seasoned grilled fish such as sea bream, sea bass, and tuna. The only downside is the limited accommodation options on the island, with small hotels housed in old buildings that lack soundproofing. At night, the chatter of pedestrians on the streets below can be heard. However, exhaustion and the unfamiliar language make it easy to fall asleep quickly.

Torgir is a resort city full of medieval appearances in Croatia!! Torgir is a port city connected to the Adriatic Sea, so you can easily see the seaside, and since it is a historical city full of medieval appearances, you can see various appearances no matter where you walk. Since it is a resort city, you can enjoy it wherever you go!! If you want a comfortable vacation, I recommend the resort city of Torgir!! #CroatiaTravel #Torgir #Croatia #TorgirTravel #ResortCity #Medieval #MedievalCity #PortCity #YearEndTravel #Winter #PleaseWinter#HotPlace#SafeTravel#WithNature

Croatia surprised me with how much you can experience without constantly changing hotels. Blue Adriatic water, old stone streets, colourful squares and evenings watching boats return to the harbour. 🇭🇷☀️ If I had 3 days on the Dalmatian coast, here’s the itinerary I’d recommend saving: 🏛️ DAY 1 - Split’s Old Town Start early at Diocletian’s Palace, a Roman palace that became part of the living city. Wander the narrow streets, explore the squares and finish with a waterfront walk along the Riva. 🌊 DAY 2 - See Split from above Head towards Marjan Hill for panoramic views over the harbour, islands and cruise ships. Then slow down at the beach or grab a coffee by the sea. 🌺 DAY 3 - Explore Trogir Take a day trip to this UNESCO-listed medieval town. Visit the old town, admire St. Lawrence’s Cathedral and spend the afternoon along the waterfront. 💡 3 TIPS WORTH KNOWING: ✔ Stay in Split and explore nearby towns without moving hotels. ✔ Start sightseeing early, especially when cruise ships are in port. ✔ Try pašticada, a traditional Dalmatian slow-cooked beef dish, and leave time for a sunset harbour walk. My Croatia formula: One historic city + one slow coastal day + one beautiful day trip. 📍 Split & Trogir, Dalmatia, Croatia #Croatia #SplitCroatia #Trogir #VisitCroatia #CroatiaTravel #DalmatianCoast #CroatiaItinerary #EuropeTravel #TripMoments

Conveniently accessible for day trips from Split or Trogir, the journey often ends in the charming, laid-back town of Skradin. The views along the Krka River canyon are breathtaking and definitely Instagram-worthy. Recommended Route: Start early from Bristane or nearby towns and head straight to Krka National Park via the Lozovac entrance. The paths are well-marked; just follow the signs to hit the major viewpoints and waterfall zones. Skradinski Buk is a must-see. Afterward, take the park’s ferry down the Krka River canyon. The cliffs and lush greenery are so picturesque you'll feel like you've stepped into a postcard. The boat drops you off at Skradin, where you can wander through cobblestone streets or relax at a café—pure bliss. Top Attractions and Photo Spots: 1. Skradinski Buk: The park's centerpiece. The tiered waterfalls are stunning, and the water is incredibly clear. Make sure to capture it from every angle. 2. Canyon Viewpoints: Several spots along the trail offer panoramic views of the lakes and waterfalls. 3. Krka River Boat Trip: A must-do. The limestone canyons are spectacular; keep your camera ready for every turn. 4. Skradin Town: A charming European town with an old-world feel. Every little street is a photo op. Travel Tips and Notes: – High season tickets are around 93 HRK (check the official site for updates), and queues can be long. – The park is open year-round, but hours are shorter from November to February. It’s closed on December 25th and 26th. – Wear comfortable hiking shoes; paths near the waterfalls can be wet and slippery. – Mosquitoes can be a nuisance in some areas, so bring repellent. A day trip to Krka National Park offers waterfalls, lush forests, canyons, and charming towns all in one—a perfect way to hit the refresh button!

✈️[Day 0] Pre-trip preparation & secrets to saving money and peace of mind Never click on "discount ticket" ads that appear in search engines! You're likely to get scammed. 1. Visa & flights✈️ · Off-season perks: Schengen visas are processed faster with less competition! Preparing 2–3 weeks in advance is sufficient. · Flights: Always use incognito mode to compare prices! Keep an eye on Croatia Airlines and Ryanair for domestic legs. A round trip from Zagreb to Dubrovnik is €60–90 (approx. 460–700 RMB) in the off-season. 2. Accommodation tips🏨 · Dubrovnik: Stay in the Ploce or Lapad areas outside the old town. Off-season 4-star hotels are €80–110/night. Prioritize room types with balconies that offer views of the Adriatic Sea. Prices in the old town are high, so it's not recommended if you're on a budget. · Split: Stay around Diocletian's Palace. Don't book a homestay too far from bus stops, as dragging luggage uphill is exhausting. Many apartments are excellent value in the off-season. 3. Internet & apps📱 · Download the Bolt app in advance (a local ride-hailing app to prevent taxi drivers from overcharging). · Use Google Maps for navigation and Jadrolinija to check ferries. You can buy e-tickets directly, making island hopping super convenient.   📅[Day 1] Dubrovnik: Exploring the ancient Adriatic city Keywords: City walls, red-tiled old town, seaside dining · Morning: "Avoiding traps" on the city walls🏛️ · Tickets: We don't recommend queuing on-site. Buy a combo ticket on the official website for €35, which includes the city walls, fortresses, and other historical sites. · ⚠️ Heads up: Many private guides will approach you at the old town gate with inflated prices. Don't accept their offers. It's quiet in the off-season, so you can easily explore on your own. If you want a guided experience, rent the official audio guide—it's much more cost-effective than a private guide. · Pro tip: With few tourists in the off-season, strolling along the city walls with red-tiled roofs against the backdrop of the deep blue sea makes for great photos. Be sure to go early, as the sea breeze picks up in the afternoon. · Tip: Some sections of the wall walkway are steep, so wear non-slip shoes. You cannot enter after the admission time. · Noon: Dining guide🍴 · Avoid: Be cautious of restaurants on the main street of the old town that hold menus and solicit customers. Some seafood is priced per 100g, and the final bill can easily exceed expectations. · Recommendation: Duck into the alleys of the old town to find small eateries frequented by locals. Order a mixed grill platter and a seafood risotto; you can get full for €10–15 per person. Burek pastries from street vendors cost €2–3 and are crispy, delicious, and perfect for a quick meal. · Afternoon: Lovrijenac Fortress & wandering the old town · The fortress is a filming location for "Game of Thrones," and the view of the sea from here is excellent. If you don't want to buy a ticket, you can take photos from the observation deck outside. · Verdict: Compared to the bustling main street, the secluded alleys of the old town are more worth exploring slowly. They are quiet, and you'll find retro stone architecture everywhere. · Evening: Night stroll in the old town🛍️ · We don't recommend buying so-called handmade jewelry at high prices in old town souvenir shops, as many are mass-produced imports. You can look for local lavender products, but be sure to buy them from reputable stores.   ⛴️[Day 2] Dubrovnik to Split Keywords: Coastal highway, coastal towns, ancient monuments · Transportation: Bus or ferry? · Budget-friendly and comfortable: Take a long-distance bus. It follows the coastline for 4–5 hours, offering sea views the whole way, with tickets costing €25–35. · Experience: There are many ferry departures in the summer, but schedules are reduced in the off-season. Be sure to confirm departure times on Jadrolinija before you travel. · ⚠️ Heads up: Ignore anyone who approaches you at the station to offer a private car, as their quotes will be several times higher. The station is the main bus terminal; just buy your ticket there. · Afternoon: Wandering Diocletian's Palace in Split🌇 · After checking in, walk around the old town. The palace is not a closed ruin; residents still live within the historical site. · Pro tip: Don't obsess over finding "Instagrammable" spots; just wandering through the streets and alleys has a great atmosphere. Go to the seaside promenade in the evening to enjoy the sea breeze and watch the sunset.   📸[Day 3] In-depth tour of Split Keywords: Island hopping, seaside promenade, Mediterranean scenery · Morning: Short island-hopping day trip🚶 · You can join a short boat tour to Brač Island. Some travel agencies close in the off-season, so be sure to confirm the tour is running online in advance. · ⚠️ Heads up: For boat tours solicited on the street, clarify the total price and confirm whether it includes island landing fees to avoid extra charges later. · If you don't want to go out to sea: Go hiking on Marjan Hill in Split. From the observation deck halfway up the mountain, you can overlook the entire city and the bay. It's quiet and uncrowded. · Afternoon: Relaxing on the beach🏖️ · Go to Bačvice Beach, which has a pebble coastline. You can't swim in the off-season, but it's very pleasant for a walk by the sea. · Verdict: Many seaside restaurants are closed in the off-season, so we recommend stocking up on drinking water and snacks at a supermarket in the city.   🏞️[Day 4] Plitvice Lakes National Park & return to Split Keywords: Lakes and waterfalls, forest hiking, lake scenery · Morning: Plitvice Lakes National Park🟢 · Plitvice Lakes is a drive away from Split, so we recommend leaving early. Admission tickets are cheaper in the off-season. It's divided into upper and lower lake areas; if you have limited energy, walking the lower lake area is enough. Wooden boardwalks wind through the lakes and waterfalls, and the water is a clear, turquoise blue. · ⚠️ Tip: The temperature in the forest is low, so bring a light jacket and wear non-slip sneakers, as the boardwalks can be damp and slippery. · Afternoon: Return to Split · Back in the city, stroll through the local market in the evening. · Bargaining guide: When buying lavender products at the market, you can negotiate the marked price. If a regular lavender sachet costs more than €4, you can walk away.   🛡️[Day 5] Farewell to Croatia & the ultimate anti-scam guide Keywords: Buying souvenirs, the final lunch · Morning: Shopping in Split's old town🎁 · Browse the local market for honey and lavender souvenirs. · Tax refund guide💰 · Pro tip: The tax refund threshold in Croatia is €120. Be sure to carry your passport when shopping and ask the clerk to issue a tax refund form. · ⚠️ Heads up: Process your tax refund at the airport before checking your luggage! Customs may inspect the goods. Tax refunds to credit cards are slower but offer better exchange rates; cash refunds incur a service fee.   🔥[Croatia anti-scam guide summary] Must read! It could save your trip! 1. Dining🍽️ · Refuse "freebies": If bread or snacks are placed on the table or handed to you, politely say "No, thanks" if you don't want them, otherwise you will be charged a high fee on the bill. · Check the bottom of the menu: Many restaurants charge a cover fee, which is usually €1–2 per person. If it's not marked on the menu but they charge a service fee of over 15%, you can refuse to pay it. · Specify your water: Ask for "tap water" if you want it for free. If you just order "water," you will be given paid bottled water. 2. Transportation🚗 · Don't hail taxis on the street in the city. Use Bolt; the estimated price shown is the final price. · If flying with a budget airline, be sure to check in via the app in advance. Checking in at the counter will incur a high penalty fee. · Off-season ferries are easily canceled due to high winds. Double-check the schedule before you travel. 3. Accommodation🏨 · Don't book homestays in the city center that have blurry photos and suspiciously low prices. Some will tell you there are no rooms available upon arrival and force you to switch to a remote, dilapidated property.   🏆[Summary: Is it worth it?] Verdict: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Five stars) Croatia in the off-season avoids the crowded summer tourist rush and sheds the noise. The temperature is cool, making it perfect for travelers who enjoy quiet, in-depth exploration. · Cons: The water is too cold for swimming, many small shops on the islands are closed, and ferries may be canceled on windy days. · Pros: Flight and accommodation prices drop significantly. You can easily book sea-view rooms that are impossible to get in the peak season. Popular attractions don't require queuing, and you can explore the old towns and national parks quietly and at your own pace.

Kamerlengo Castle is a 15th-century Venetian coastal fortress. Located on the southwest coast of the old town, it overlooks the Adriatic Sea and Čiovo Island. It was built between 1420–1437 during the rule of the Venetian Republic. Its predecessor was a late 14th-century tower, and the site had a lookout post as early as the Roman era. Croatia has Dubrovnik and Split. But between them lies a town that is often overlooked. Trogir is a UNESCO-listed island settlement connected to the mainland by bridges. Its streets are a maze of stone, its cathedral is a masterpiece, and the sea surrounds it all. Here is how to explore this Dalmatian treasure and save money with Trip.com. 1. The Old Town at Dawn: Stone and Sea Light Trogir's old town is a labyrinth of narrow alleys, stone houses, and hidden squares. By 9 AM, the day-trippers from Split arrive. Come at 6 AM instead. The stone glows in the soft light. The sea is calm. You will walk through streets that have barely changed in 2,300 years, with only the sound of your footsteps and the cry of gulls. It feels like walking through ancient history. Pro Tip: Download the Trip.com offline map for Trogir. It shows you the hidden courtyards and the quietest routes along the waterfront. The best photos are from the Kamerlengo Fortress at sunrise, when the stone turns gold. 2. St. Lawrence Cathedral: A Portal to Heaven The Cathedral of St. Lawrence is the heart of Trogir. Its Romanesque portal, carved by Master Radovan in 1240, is one of the finest in Europe. The scenes depict the life of Christ and the seasons of the year. Inside, the chapel of St. John is a Renaissance masterpiece. The climb to the bell tower is steep, but the view over the red rooftops and the sea is worth it. Money Hack: Buy a combined ticket on Trip.com that includes the cathedral and the Kamerlengo Fortress. You save about 25%. The fortress offers the best views in Trogir, and the climb to the top is part of the adventure. 3. The Kamerlengo Fortress: A View Above the Sea The Kamerlengo Fortress was built by the Venetians in the 15th century to protect the harbor. Its walls are thick, its towers are impressive, and the view from the top is stunning. The sea stretches on one side, the old town on the other. Come in the late afternoon. The light is golden, and the shadows are long. Budget Advice: Skip the expensive boat tours. Walk the waterfront instead. It is free and beautiful. Check Trip.com for a "Trogir Walking Tour" that includes the fortress and the cathedral. The guide explains the Venetian history and the local legends. 4. Food That Tastes Like the Adriatic Dalmatian food is fresh and simple. Try Gregada — a fish stew with potatoes and white wine. Order Crni Rižot — black risotto with cuttlefish ink. And do not miss Rožata — a caramel custard dessert, a local specialty. Where to Eat: Skip the restaurants on the main waterfront. They charge for the view. Walk into the backstreets and find Konoba Trs or Calebotta, where locals eat. The food is fresh, and the prices are fair. Check Trip.com for set menu deals — some places include a glass of local wine when you book through the app. Where to Stay? Book on Trip.com a guesthouse in the old town. Look for something near the cathedral or the fortress. You will sleep in a stone house with wooden shutters, a small balcony, and the sound of the sea at night. The evenings are lively, and the mornings are quiet before the crowds arrive. Conclusion: Trogir is not a place that shouts. It whispers. It is a town of stone and sea, of cathedrals and fortresses. It is a place where the past is present in every wall. Croatia is a country of stunning beauty, and Trogir is its hidden gem. Come and walk the stone streets. The Adriatic is waiting. #trip_com #Croatia #Trogir #trogirtravel #CroatiaHiddenGems #Dalmatia #StLawrenceCathedral #BudgetTravel #EuropeGuide #traveleurope #unesco #KamerlengoFortress #AdriaticCoast #DalmatianCuisine #HiddenCroatia

Below, I'll tell you everything about how to travel, how to save money, and what to pay attention to, so you can go right away! ✈️ 💰Where did the money go? (Around 6000 yuan for 7 days) Airfare: Bought discounted tickets 3 months in advance, round trip 3000 yuan. Sleep: Stayed in guesthouses or hostels, about 100 yuan per night, 1000 yuan for 7 days. Food: Bought bread and milk at the supermarket, and ate out a few times, totaling 1000 yuan. Entrance fees to attractions and boat rides: Approximately 500 yuan. This total is just right, allowing you to have a great time without overspending! 🌟Must-Visit Fun Places (Every One is Amazing) Dubrovnik 🏰 – The city where the king lived in Game of Thrones! Climb the city walls in the morning for postcard-perfect views of red rooftops and the sea! There's a small island nearby called Lokrum with a solitary castle – perfect for cool photos! Plitvice Lakes National Park 🌿 – Sixteen emerald-green lakes cascade down like stairs, their water a beautiful turquoise! Walk along the wooden paths, past small waterfalls – it feels like stepping into a painting. Remember to wear sneakers, as there's a lot of walking! Split 🏛️ – Home to a 1700-year-old royal palace, now the city center! Stroll along the seaside promenade in the evening, enjoying the sunset and the breeze – absolutely breathtaking! You can also take a boat to Brac Island, where the sandy beaches are pointed and the water is an unreal blue! Zadal 🎵 – The beach has singing steps! It's called the "Sea Organ," and it makes beautiful sounds when the waves crash against it. The best time to go is around 6 PM; listen to the music while watching the sunset—it's incredibly romantic! 🗓️7-Day Itinerary (Just copy this): Day 1: Arrive in Zagreb, the capital, and explore the Old Town and the Museum of Broken Relationships (very interesting). Stone oysters (just over 1 euro each, incredibly fresh and plump). Squid ink rice (dark in color, but delicious!). ⚠️Remember these things before you go: Visa: You can go with a Schengen visa. Best time to go is from May to September, the weather is nice and the sea is warm. The sun is very strong at the beach, be sure to wear sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. The beach is full of small stones, bring beach shoes so they won't hurt your feet. Don't buy water inside tourist attractions, supermarkets are much cheaper. If you rent a car, remember to get full insurance, because the small stones on the road can easily scratch your car. The old town has cobblestone streets, wear comfortable shoes so you won't get tired walking around. Croatia is like a hidden gem, beautiful scenery, inexpensive, and delicious food. Next time you want to travel to Europe, choose Croatia! You won't regret it! 💖 Save this now and invite your friends to go! 🌊☀️

To start, I just want to say: Croatia’s blue is the kind that gets etched into your mind. Especially the “eye of the earth” hidden in the mountains, so real it feels like an alien relic 👽 💎 Highlights (focus on these) 1. Eye of the earth (Izvor Cetine) This is the source of the Cetina River. From above, it looks like a blue-green pupil set into the ground, so deep it feels like it could pull you in. Over 150 meters deep, the water is as clear as glass, and when sunlight hits it, it turns Tiffany blue 💧. 📸 Tips: Bring a drone! Only an aerial shot can capture the full view of the eye of the earth. The color is best at noon when the sun is directly overhead. 2. Dubrovnik old town The real-life inspiration for King’s Landing in Game of Thrones. Be sure to walk the city walls. The red rooftops and Adriatic Sea sunset are breathtaking 🌇. The light is softest at dusk, perfect for photos. 3. Plitvice Lakes National Park Croatia’s oldest and largest national park. Croatia is not just about Dubrovnik from Game of Thrones. Along the Adriatic coast, I discovered a true treasure: Trogir! 🏰 This tiny island town with just over 10,000 residents carries a mysterious name. The entire old town is certified by UNESCO, making it the world’s largest “World Heritage island” museum, yet it’s so understated it tugs at your heart. The moment you cross the stone bridge from the mainland onto the island, it feels like stepping onto a medieval movie set. Founded in the 3rd century BC, it has seen Greek, Roman, Venetian, and French influences, leaving behind an unexpectedly eclectic architectural style. Roman solidity, Gothic spires, Renaissance elegance, and Baroque splendor coexist perfectly in this small town. Every few steps, the scenery changes, and every stone-paved alley is a living architecture textbook! 📜 The old town’s landmark, St. Lawrence Cathedral, took four centuries to complete. Its bell tower soars into the sky, truly the city’s beacon. I climbed the tower to overlook the red rooftops contrasting with the deep blue sea—so beautiful it left me speechless. 🌊 Even more remarkable, the old houses here are all stone-built, two stories high, and many are still inhabited. Grandmas selling handmade souvenirs sit by the doorsteps, cats bask on the stairs, and the atmosphere is so alive it doesn’t feel like a tourist spot but like a lazy afternoon in the Middle Ages. Strolling along the seaside promenade, cafes and restaurants line up side by side. Locals sip coffee while watching the sea, boats drift on the turquoise water, and time seems to slow down to half speed here. Wandering into the labyrinthine alleys of the old town, every corner holds a surprise—maybe a weathered stone carving or a vine-covered windowsill. Every snapshot is an Instagram-worthy masterpiece. 📸 What touched me most was the town’s vibrancy. The historic sites aren’t fenced off but grow naturally with daily life. Children chase pigeons in the square, fishermen cast lines at the harbor, and visitors and residents exchange smiles as if this has been the way for centuries. If you love avoiding crowds and are fascinated by the soul of European old towns, Trogir is definitely worth a special visit. It’s unpretentious, like a pearl polished by the sea for a thousand years, quietly waiting for those who understand it. ✨ Promise me you’ll save a day for it on your Croatia trip?

Trogir is actually a very small island, so close to the shore that the sea connecting it to the mainland is like a small river. The island's fortress, built during the Venetian Republic era, looks very sturdy; the church is characterized by exquisite stone carvings, and a papal archbishop born there is a source of local pride. For me, the seafood and fresh fruits were more appealing; the seaside restaurants were packed with tourists, a sentiment shared by many.
