You can get there by high-speed train in two hours, stay overnight for just over 100 yuan, and have a meal for under 50 yuan per person. Compared to seaside rentals that easily cost over 1,000 yuan, these spots are true low-cost paradises. 01 Tonghua | Jilin At 7 AM, there are still few visitors on the stone steps of the Goguryeo relics. I walked alone along the city wall. The breeze was cool, and the scent of pine and stone moss was fresh. 📍 The ticket office at the entrance of General’s Tomb only accepts cash. I had to dig through my pockets to gather enough change. Remember to bring some small bills. ⚠️ Walking through the entire tomb area takes about an hour and a half. The steps aren’t many, but the path is uneven. Wearing sneakers is 100 times better than flip-flops. At noon, I turned into the rapeseed flower fields in Ji’an city. Don’t crowd the main scenic entrance. Drive west along the Yalu River for seven or eight minutes. The stone path was covered in dew, making a crisp sound underfoot. The mountain isn’t high, but the steps are dense. My heart rate hit 140 climbing to Dawanghai Temple. ⚠️ The whole climb takes about three hours. If you’re with elderly or children, take the cable car up and walk down. Otherwise, your knees won’t hold up. 🚄 A dedicated bus line from Jinzhou station runs every half hour. It costs 7 yuan to the mountain gate. After descending, stop by Beizhen city to try Gou Bangzi smoked chicken. A whole chicken costs less than 40 yuan. 🍜 The “Qiu’s smoked chicken” shop on Renmin Road is tiny and easy to miss, but the flavor beats big brand stores.
