Wanting to experience one of the most iconic restaurants in the area, we chose the highly-rated and uniquely named The Bear, The Fish, The Root & The Berry. The name is quite romantic, referencing the "Four Food Chiefs" of the local Indigenous culture: bear, fish, root, and berry, symbolizing nature and symbiosis. Just hearing it speaks volumes. 🍷The restaurant is located in the Spirit Ridge Resort, with vineyard and lake views outside the windows, a truly impressive ambiance. It was incredibly busy, and we booked the last table. As for the food—it was above average for Western cuisine, but not amazing. The steak was a bit overcooked, not tender enough, and lacked flavor. The other main courses and sides, however, were much better. Overall, it was pretty average. The prices are quite impressive—each dish costs over $40 Canadian dollars, plus tax and tip—and the meal is comparable to a high-end restaurant in downtown Vancouver. This restaurant is more for the view and ambiance than the food. Sit by the lake, enjoy a glass of wine, chat, and experience that "slow vacation" feel.
