Both Yangzhou's morning tea and Guangdong's morning tea are very popular and have different tastes. The soup dumplings, tofu pudding, Yangchun noodles, crab roe dumplings, lotus root, dried shredded vegetables and other side dishes we tasted at Yechun Tea House's Yumatou store were very distinctive.
Yangzhou's most famous morning teahouses are the time-honored "Fuchun" and "Yechun," followed by "Pibaoshui Teahouse." This is perhaps a distinct characteristic of Yangzhou. Walking out of Yangzhou's North Gate Outer Street, crossing the "Wenyue Bridge," and heading south down a small slope, you'll find the renowned "Yechun Teahouse." This century-old establishment boasts a renowned Huaiyang pastries and snacks, particularly its Yangzhou dried bean curd, which boasts a rich local flavor.
Yechun Tea House boasts a history of over 200 years. Today, we're dining at the main branch of Yechun. The restaurant is located in Yechun Garden, one of the eight great gardens of the Qing Dynasty, where Emperor Qianlong often enjoyed tea and snacks. In Yangzhou, "skin-wrapped water in the morning" celebrates the city's morning tea culture. Within the garden, you'll witness traditional folk performances and operas, and elderly people selling magnolia flowers, reflecting the authentic flavors of everyday life. Eating morning tea in Yangzhou is about taking it slow and leisurely: a cup of tea in hand, a few friends around the table, ordering your favorite dim sum, and gazing out the window—this is what the so-called slow life entails. The moon-shaped steamed dumplings are rich in broth and firm in texture. The Wuding Bao (Five-Card Bun) is a 2.0 version of the famous Sanding Bao (Three-Card Bun), filled with sea cucumber, chicken, pork, winter bamboo shoots, and shrimp. It truly delivers, blending all five flavors for a nourishing, fresh, fragrant, crispy, and tender experience. The crab roe soup dumplings are a must-try, and of course, Yangzhou's thousand-layer oil cakes are a must-try. They're said to have been passed down from the late Qing Dynasty to this day. The steamed thousand-layer cakes are soft, delicate, and sweet, a hibiscus-colored, translucent hue, with layers of sugar and oil interlaced. They're a feast for the eyes, soft, tender, and sweet. A cup of tea, two or three friends, and four or five kinds of dim sum, in this garden surrounded by water on three sides, leaning against the window, gazing at the shimmering water and vibrant trees, you can savor the moment. #Yangzhou is a great place! #Slender West Lake Perfect Holiday
It was my first time to visit my hometown, and I was a little excited! After checking into the hotel in the afternoon, I went to the Yechun Tea House opposite the hotel and had afternoon tea! The environment of the Yechun Tea House is quite quiet, located next to the moat. The waiters are quite enthusiastic, but the cashier's attitude can only be said to be average. The family of three ordered shrimp steamed dumplings, Yechun steamed dumplings, hot dried shreds and lion's head, which tasted very good! I like the shrimp steamed dumplings very much. The shrimps are big and delicious. My husband also praised it.
Before leaving Yangzhou, I still went to Yechun. After all, I had to go to Sanchun. Maybe I didn't have high expectations, but I felt that Yechun was actually very good. The dishes were much more exquisite than Fuchun opposite! The location was convenient. I walked directly from the hotel. The environment of Yechun was also very good. It was a big garden built by the river, with a small bridge and flowing water. It felt very good to eat dim sum while watching the scenery! Dim sum can be ordered individually, which is very user-friendly. You can also taste multiple flavors at one time, which is very suitable for me. Dim sum will be placed in a basket. Jade Shaomai Sandi Bao Qianchuang Yougao Yechun Steamed Dumplings are all good!
The "crab roe soup dumplings" are the absolute signature dish. Although they are 25 yuan each, they are still worth it. The dumplings are all hot and you need to use a straw to drink the soup inside. The "sweet and sour radish skin" is very refreshing and very suitable for eating. The meat buns are paired with "Yechun hot dried shredded vegetables". The simplified version of boiled dried shredded vegetables tastes very good. The tofu shreds are very light but very tasty. The "Emerald Shaomai" is a vegetarian Shaomai with green vegetables inside. The "shrimp roe wontons" are delicious. The meat wontons have a little shrimp roe on them to enhance the flavor. The taste is very good, and there is a little bit of pepper, which is even more flavorful. The "Gaoyou salted egg" is not that salty and tastes good. The "Thousand Layer Oil Cake" is very fragrant and soft, and it should have animal oil "Tofu skin buns" taste OK, with tofu skin as the filling, which is more flavorful. "Shredded radish buns" are very similar to tofu skin buns, except for the different fillings. "Green vegetable buns" are very similar to jade siu mai, with vegetables inside, but the skin is made of leavened dough. "Yechun steamed dumplings" are delicious, with a fragrant pork filling. "Crab roe buns" are delicious, and unlike soup dumplings, they contain pork and crab roe. "Wu Ding buns" have Wu Ding and San Ding, and I think Wu Ding has more content. "Pine nut siu mai" is a southern siu mai, with rice inside. [Mint] Environment: Very good, with the river next to it and the stage in front, morning tea is just in time for watching a play. [Service bell] Service: Average
