Menza Restaurant and Cafe

This restaurant is a popular local restaurant with a high cost-effectiveness ratio, so there are many diners. If you go late, it is easy to queue up. You can ask the hotel to help you reserve a seat. The restaurant is about 300 meters away from the Hungarian State Opera House and is close to the famous Andrassy Avenue. The food tastes good, but it doesn't feel as good as its reputation, and there is a certain gap compared to other popular or Michelin restaurants in Budapest.

I didn't read any guides beforehand and stumbled into this restaurant. It was much busier than the surrounding restaurants. At around 2pm, I didn't have to wait for a table. The service was pretty good. In the aisle, a couple was leaving, dawdling in their coats. The guy who served the food made helpless eyes at me next to him. The environment is very good and the layout of the restaurant is very layered. The stewed beef we ordered was quite appetizing. The cheese taste in the roast lamb was not accustomed to me. The roast duck (actually duck skin) for the appetizer was a bit greasy. The coffee was served with small biscuits. This is enough for one time. It's not bad to experience it.

As soon as I sat down and prepared to order, the guy asked me to show him the pictures. I can imagine that there are many compatriots here. I ordered beef soup alone. It is really a blessing to have a bowl of it in winter. I also ordered the foie gras that everyone recommends. It was too greasy when I ate the second piece. I felt guilty after eating the white chocolate with cream.

It was really delicious~ Because I was so excited when I was eating it, I only took one picture. I stole some beautiful pictures from seniors, sorry~ My first meal in Budapest was great! The thing that looks like a donut with a small bowl underneath is actually a soup. It was served with an appetizer similar to fried dough sticks. The soup has a strong cheese flavor. The white thing in the middle of the donut has a sour taste and is quite refreshing. The beef soup is quite delicious. The fried pork chop is very big and I almost didn't eat it. It is worth mentioning that the big pork elbow is roasted crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Although it is a little bit fat, it tastes so delicious~ I saw a local person next to me ordering it and thought he was eating it very deliciously, so I ordered it specially. It is really good, hahahaha. It's really great. It should be ranked in the top 5.

Manza restaurant is in front of Liszt Opera House, in that beautiful street. When you walk in, you can see that they are more popular than others. You have to wait a little for a seat! When I went there at noon, it was really full, and many of them were Hungarian locals. My first meal in this restaurant was my first meal in Hungary, so I ordered the most famous Hungarian beef soup. The portion is not as huge as the legend, but it is served with bread, so it is enough for girls. Their prices are not cheap, beef soup costs 1980 forints. I looked at other restaurants in the back, and the better ones are only more than 1400 forints or 900 forints. So the price of their restaurant is not close to the people. I didn’t go there again after eating once. The taste of the beef soup is not particularly amazing, but there is meat, carrots and potatoes, and it feels quite nutritious when stewed together.

The most unforgettable thing about this European trip is the menza, which is so delicious that I can't forget it, and the price is even more touching. If you want to taste simple and exquisite Hungarian dishes and plan to have a good meal here, this is the best choice.
