Paak Dang Riverside Restaurant

The Red Mouth Riverside Restaurant is located at 46/1 Wang Sing Kham Road | Chang Moi, Chiang Mai 50300, Thailand It is right by the river and has a large wooden viewing platform. It was raining when we went there, so we couldn't dine on the viewing platform. The dishes are very good, especially the Tom Yum Goong soup, which tastes very good and is the best meal in Chiang Mai!

It cost about 72 baht to take a taxi from the southeast corner where we lived to the restaurant. Strangely, Paak Dang only opens from 5pm to 10:30pm. The restaurant is facing the river, so you can't enjoy the river view at night. The sign is big and easy to find. We found a table outside along the river. There are about five or six tables outside. After we sat down, two small packages like disposable shower gel and shampoo were placed on the table. There were mosquito patterns on them. Later, when I bought things at 7-11, I found out that it was mosquito repellent. To be honest, there were quite a lot of mosquitoes sitting outside. There were live performances at 7 or 8 o'clock. The most famous dish of Paak Dang is the grilled prawns. A prawn is as big as a palm. It is sold by weight, 200 baht/100g. You can choose different sauces, Thai seafood sauce, Thai basil sauce, and garlic basil sauce. The prawns are cut in half and grilled, and then poured with sauce. Fried yellow curry with dried crab Depending on the weight of the crab, a portion of yellow curry crab costs about 1,500 to 1,700 baht. I was quite satisfied with this dish. The crab claws were super large, and the shells were cut to reveal the thick crab meat. In addition, a pair of tongs were given when the dish was served to crush the crab shells. The crab meat was fried with celery and onions, and the yellow curry was rich in milk flavor. A little bit of chili was added, but it was not very spicy, which was very suitable for our taste. After eating the crab meat, you can also have a bowl of rice, so as not to waste the fragrant curry sauce. Unfortunately, I couldn't eat it at that time. In addition to prawns, mussels, and mushrooms, there are many Thai spices such as lemon leaves, ginger and lemongrass. It is a little spicy. It feels like you can eat several bowls of rice with seafood soup. The seafood soup is served in a small silver hot pot, and there are candles underneath to keep the temperature. The dish that received the most praise from us was the stir-fried water spinach. We occasionally buy water spinach in Shanghai, but when my mother ate it, she thought it was so delicious! Why can't I make it taste like this? I don't know if it's because of the shrimp paste and fermented black beans. Anyway, it tastes very good and the vegetables are very tender. Seafood pineapple fried rice 200 baht I have eaten pineapple fried rice several times in Thailand, and each place has a little different. Paak Dang's pineapple fried rice is an enhanced version, using jasmine rice, mussels, shrimp, crispy cashews, and pineapple cubes. The side dishes are cucumber slices and tomato slices, and the serving dish is a hollowed-out fresh pineapple. Thai-style steamed red tilapia with green lemon 350 baht Thai-style steamed lemon fish, a large tilapia, the fish meat is very fat and tender, a whole tilapia steamed with slightly spicy lime juice, chili and garlic. Dip it in the sour and spicy lemon-flavored soup, but if there are not many people, it is not worth ordering it because it is too big and you can't finish it. When it is served, it is heated at the bottom to keep the temperature. The restaurant has a total of 60 seats. It is the rainy season in Thailand. We saw lightning in the distance while eating, so we hurried to eat. As a result, when we took a taxi back, it started to rain heavily as soon as we stepped into the door of the hotel room.

This is the best environment I've had since coming to Chiang Mai. It's on the banks of the Chiang Mai River. There are singers singing while eating, and the atmosphere is great. The boss is Singaporean and speaks fluent Chinese. The best thing is that he has improved the mixed taste of sweet, sour and salty Thai food. Fried shrimp cakes, curry shrimp, stewed fish with green lemon and stir-fried vegetables are very suitable for Chinese tastes. A hearty meal costs 200 yuan, which is good value for money.

We arrived at 6:30 and could sit by the river without reservation. Many Shanghainese came to eat. The steamed tilapia was OK, the curry soft shell crab was good, the signature prawns were good, the pineapple seafood fried rice was delicious, remember to install the international version of Uber, Uber is very cost-effective

This restaurant is suitable for visiting in the evening because it is by the river. It is really comfortable to feel the river breeze in the evening. You can order seafood at the door and then have it processed. I think it is not bad although the price is a bit more expensive than other restaurants. Their shrimp cakes are also very delicious.
