Chao Phraya River

7.9
4.5/5
5.4k reviews
The Chao Phraya River is the customary name used by the Chinese community for the river known in Thai as "Chao Phraya." The term "Chao Phraya" originates from Thai, literally meaning "mother of waters," while its Thai name is often translated as "river of kings," both reflecting the river's significance in Thailand. It originates in the northern mountains of Thailand, flows south through the central plains, passes the ancient capital of Ayutthaya, and runs through the heart of Bangkok before emptying into the Gulf of Thailand. Including its upstream tributaries, it stretches over 1,000 km. Bangkok grew alongside this river, once crisscrossed by waterways and dubbed the "Venice of the East." Even today, the Chao Phraya River remains a vital waterway for local transportation and daily life. Taking a cruise is a classic way to explore the river. By day, the water bustles with public ferries, cargo boats, and crossings, resembling a watery highway for Bangkok residents, while traditional floating markets have mostly relocated to tributaries. Along the river, historic landmarks like the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and Wat Arun glide past, juxtaposed with modern malls like ICONSIAM across the water. A short ferry ride from Tha Tian Pier leads to Wat Arun on the opposite bank. At night, the river transforms as lights illuminate both shores, with Wat Arun's porcelain-clad spires shimmering softly. Sightseeing and dinner cruises set sail, offering a distinctly different atmosphere from the land-based experience. If timing allows, an evening cruise lets you witness both the sunset and the city lights, capturing two faces of the river in one trip. △Sparkling Chao Phraya River △Enchanting night view at Chao Phraya RiverBangkok · 4.8km from downtown

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

4.3/5

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, located southwest of Bangkok, is a rare example of a market that still retains the traditional Thai floating market atmosphere. With over a century of history, it has been a filming location for many movies, most notably one of the James Bond films. Local residents still live in stilt houses built along the waterways of Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Most vendors are husband-and-wife teams, conducting their trade year-round on the river. Boats carrying vegetables, fruits, and small goods weave through the narrow waterways of the canals, lined with lush tropical trees. On board, local women, wearing distinctive straw hats, loudly hawk their wares. During peak season, these small merchant boats and passenger boats create traffic jams on the canals, forming a lively scene. Most visitors to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market choose to tour the market by boat, experiencing the fun of shopping from above. Of course, strolling through the covered walkways on the banks offers another unique experience, with vendors selling fruit there as well. If you see food that you like from the vendors on the boat, you can ask them to come ashore.Damnoen Saduak · 65.3km from Bangkok

A fantastic tour! Enjoy a buffet on the deck, feel the river breeze, admire the scenery on both banks, and listen to a live band. The views along both sides of the Chao Phraya River are unobstructed. I recommend taking a boat at night for an even more beautiful night view!

Cruise Through Culture: A Must-Visit at Damnoen Saduak Floating Market! If you're in Thailand, don’t miss the magical experience of Damnoen Saduak Floating Market! This vibrant market, set on winding canals, is like stepping into a living postcard. I booked my visit through Trip.com, and everything — from hotel pickup to boat ride — was seamless and hassle-free.Gliding through the waterways, I was surrounded by friendly vendors in wooden boats, selling exotic fruits, delicious Thai snacks, handmade crafts, and more. The aroma of sizzling food and the sight of colorful produce were unforgettable. I tried the mango sticky rice and fresh coconut ice cream — both were incredible! The early morning vibe, reflections on the water, and rich cultural feel make this a photographer’s dream. Damnoen Saduak is more than a market — it’s a slice of Thai heritage that you can see, taste, and feel.#TripWithTripdotcom #ThailandVibes #FloatingMarketAdventure

Khaosan Road is one of the most lively backpacker gathering places in Bangkok, full of vitality and exotic culture. During the day, the streets are full of various cafes, restaurants and small commodity stalls, where you can find cheap Thai food, handicrafts and even tattoo shops. At night, neon lights are on, bars and nightclubs are blasting music, and street performers make the whole street lively. This place brings together tourists from all over the world, and you can feel the strong international atmosphere at any time. If you like nightlife, Khaosan Road is definitely a place you can't miss. However, the environment here is relatively noisy. Tourists who want to find a quiet accommodation can choose the surrounding blocks, which is convenient for feeling the bustle of Khaosan Road and enjoying a more comfortable rest environment.

The construction of the Rajamangala National Stadium in Thailand💺Code Live The Rajamangala National Stadium is the home stadium of the Thai national football team. It has 65,000 seats and is perfect for large-scale concerts! The stage is usually located in the center of the venue. The seats in the inner field are very close to the stage and you can see the expressions of the idols clearly😍, and the seats in the stands have a wide view, and the atmosphere of the whole venue is full👏 - 📍Inner field area (flat seats) ✅ Advantages: ·Closest to the stage, you can see the movements/expressions of the idols with your naked eyes (first 10 rows) ·Immersive interactive experience, easy to be scanned by the camera or interact (idols walk around the venue) ·Some concerts can grab the golden seats next to the "extended stage" - ❌ Disadvantages: The back row is easily blocked by the people in front (if you are not tall enough, it is recommended to choose the aisles on both sides) It is likely to stand throughout the whole process (especially the singing session) When the show is over, it is far from the exit, and you are squeezed to doubt your life - 📍Front row of the stands (around 1-10 rows) ✅ Advantages: ·Wide view without obstruction, overlooking the full view of the stage + lighting effects; ·The seats are sloped, and the view is not affected by the crowd ·High cost performance, the price is more affordable than the inner field - ❌ Disadvantages: · Far from the stage (only shadows can be seen with naked eyes, it is recommended to bring binoculars) · The sound effect is slightly inferior to the inner field (the atmosphere is online) - The middle and upper levels of the stands (from 10 rows to the top of the mountain) ✅ Advantages: · The lowest ticket price, student-friendly · Suitable for fans who "feel the atmosphere", with a panoramic view of the lights/fluorescent sea of the entire venue · There are usually toilets behind the seats, which are very convenient.
