The Royal Ontario Museum is located in downtown Toronto, adjacent to Queen's Park and the University of Toronto. Planned in 1912 and officially opened in 1914, it is a comprehensive museum integrating art, world culture, and natural history, with a collection totaling in the tens of millions, making it one of the largest in North America. The museum building itself is an attraction: the century-old classical facade features exquisite stone carvings, while the "Crystal" new wing, completed in 2007 and designed by architect Daniel Libeskind, consists of several tilted and interlocking metal-glass crystals wedged directly into the old structure. This clash of old and new styles has made it a city landmark in Toronto, with the crystal facade and front steps being popular photo spots. Floor distribution: For Chinese visitors, the Asian art section on the first floor deserves ample time: the entrance to the China gallery displays an entire relocated tomb complex of Ming dynasty general Zu Dashou from Beijing, complete with stone statues, tomb gates, and burial mounds—a rare sight in overseas museums. The Bishop White Chinese temple art hall features the massive Yuan dynasty mural "The paradise of Maitreya" alongside Buddhist statues and porcelain from various dynasties, presenting a comprehensive thread of Chinese art. The adjacent Japanese and Korean galleries are worth a quick visit. On the second floor, the dinosaur hall showcases the nearly 24 m-long skeleton of "Gordo" the Barosaurus spanning the room—one of the museum's highlights—while nearby mammal and bird specimen exhibits, the biodiversity gallery, and bat cave are popular with children. The third floor's ancient Egypt exhibit displays sarcophagi and mummies, while the Greek, Roman, and European galleries gather sculptures, glassware, and other artworks. The top floor hosts rotating special exhibitions—check the current schedule before visiting. The museum also features mineral and gemstone displays, meteorite exhibits, hands-on exploration areas for children, and theaters.Canada · Toronto

The Royal Ontario Museum's glass spire, like a crystal drill bit stuck into an old building, was rather jarring. Inside, in the Egyptian gallery, a mummy lay sprawled, its shroud torn in several places, the accompanying sign barely legible. Dinosaur skeletons reached the ceiling, and children craned their necks, babbling excitedly. In the Chinese gallery, several Buddha statues were missing arms and legs, their colors faded, which ironically added to their charm compared to those in good condition. When my legs were aching from walking around, I discovered a mineral display case in a corner; the various stones glittered under the lights, and I squatted there for a while, gazing at them. When I came out, the sun was blinding, and the steps were filled with people eating sandwiches.
