▲ Wannsee is a district within Berlin's Steglitz-Zehlendorf borough, located in the southwestern part of Berlin. It is a renowned tourist and holiday destination in Berlin, named after the Großer Wannsee (Great Wannsee) and Kleiner Wannsee (Little Wannsee). The main area of Wannsee is an island in the river, connected to the outside by five bridges, with dense forests in the northwest that form part of the EU bird sanctuary. In the second half of the 19th century, wealthy middle-class families began building villas here.
