Changyu Company was founded in 1892 as China's first industrialized wine producer. After over 130 years of development, it has grown to become the world's fourth largest wine company by scale and ranks second globally in brand value. In 1992, the company built the Changyu Wine Culture Museum on the original factory site. In 2000, it invested over 80 million yuan in renovation and expansion. In 2022, marking the 130th anniversary of Changyu's founding, the company utilized modern exhibition hall 4.0 technology to upgrade the museum once again. The revitalized museum now showcases Changyu's dream of serving the nation through industry, its pioneering spirit, and the profound heritage and confidence gained from its extraordinary journey spanning three centuries as it engages with the world on equal terms. The museum is currently a national AAAA tourist attraction, one of China's first industrial tourism demonstration sites, a National Worker Pioneer, and a first-class national museum. It has been selected as one of the first "National Industrial Tourism Demonstration Bases," ranking first among the top ten. The museum consists of a wine culture plaza, exhibition halls, a century-old underground wine cellar, and the 1892 Art Center. The wine culture plaza features attractions like the bronze statue of Changyu founder Zhang Bishi, the Time-Aged Modern Sculpture, the Bacchus Fountain, the early treasury vault, and the Twin Qilin Screen Wall. The exhibition halls include four themed sections: "Industry Revitalizing the Nation," "Gilded Years," "Embracing Diversity," and "Striving for Excellence," which use interactive experiences to showcase Changyu's 130-year development journey, its global competitiveness rivaling foreign wines, trendsetting tastes, proactive social image, and how wine contributes to a healthy, elegant lifestyle. The century-old underground wine cellar, built in 1894 and designated as a national key cultural relic protection site, extends 7 meters below ground—over 1 meter below sea level—and lies within 100 meters of the coastline. Its eight intersecting vaulted tunnels create a maze-like structure. The 1892 Art Center, a "museum within the museum," is a red-roofed building blending Chinese and Western architectural styles. Formerly known as "Jin Gongshan's Old Residence" and later the "Yantai United Front Work Department," it served as the home of Changyu's founder Zhang Bishi. With over 100 years of history, it has now been transformed into an art center celebrating the aesthetics of wine-inspired living. "Telling the story of Chinese wine and promoting the aesthetics of a fashionable, healthy, romantic, and elegant wine lifestyle" – this is the mission of Changyu Wine Culture Museum. We will continue to innovate and inspire more people to fall in love with Yantai, Changyu, and Chinese wine.Yantai · 9.4km from downtown

The Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea Attraction is located on the coast of the Yellow Sea in the north of Penglai City. There is an Eight Immortals Bridge connecting the Attraction and the seaside road. This is the place where the Eight Immortals crossed the sea in mythology and legend. The scenic Attraction is themed on the legend of "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea" and has antique pavilions and gardens. You can pray for the immortals and feel the rich Taoist cultural atmosphere here, or you can enjoy the sea view everywhere. There are buildings such as the Eight Immortals Bridge, Xianyuan Tower, Wangying Tower, Bell and Drum Tower, Eight Immortals Temple, Huixian Pavilion, and Baixian Altar in the Attraction. There is a memorial archway in front and behind the Eight Immortals Bridge. The front and back of the first memorial archway are engraved with nine large characters "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea" and "Fairyland on Earth" respectively, all of which are the handwriting of Su Dongpo, a great writer in the Northern Song Dynasty. Tour Guide After walking across the Eight Immortals Bridge, you will see the Xianyuan Tower, which is the gate tower for entering and exiting the Attraction. The plaque hanging above the building is engraved with two large characters "Xianyuan", which is said to be inscribed by Li Shimin, Emperor Taizong of Tang Dynasty. Behind the building is a moon-shaped shadow wall, called the "Eight Immortals Wall". In the middle is a relief sculpture made of 64 white jade square stones, depicting the story of the Eight Immortals crossing the sea, which is lifelike. There are two lakes in the Attraction, one large and one small, called the "Yaochi". From the left and right sides of the Eight Immortals Wall, you can walk along the island sightseeing road, and you can see various rockery and strange stones along the way. There is a seal island by the lake, where you can get close to seals. In the middle of the Attraction, there is an Eight Immortals Temple, which is an independent courtyard building where you can burn incense and pray for blessings. There are also two side halls on the left and right of the Eight Immortals Temple, namely the Prayer Hall and the God of Wealth Hall. Wangying Tower is a towering building built in the Xiaoyaochi. Its first and second floors are the Chinese Traditional Art Museum, where you can enjoy various rare jade, porcelain and other artworks. Among them is a lacquer-carved inlaid mural "Group of Immortals Celebrating Birthday" made of 1,888 pieces of jade, ivory and jade, which is the largest since the founding of the People's Republic of China and can be called a treasure handed down from generation to generation. In addition, there are precious collections such as couplets written by Zeng Guofan and Feng Qiyong, the master of Redology. Huixian Pavilion is located in Dayaochi. It is an antique pagoda building with one underground floor and five floors above ground. It is a landmark building in the Attraction. The pavilion enshrines 72 very representative Taoist gods. Climbing to the top of the pavilion and looking far into the distance, you can see the blue sea and blue sky. Baixiantan is the most scenic spot in the Attraction. You can pray for blessings in front of the statue of "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea" or take a photo with the stone tablet of "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea".Yantai · 71.6km from downtown

Changdao

Changdao covers attractions like Jiuzhang Cliff and Crescent Bay, as well as Fengshan Linhai, making it a popular destination for visitors seeking leisure, vacation, and wellness. Visitors coming to Changdao Island must first take a boat from Penglai Pier to reach the island. While it's possible to explore the main attractions in one day, staying overnight is recommended to truly experience the island's charm. You can choose to stay on South Changshan Island or North Changshan Island, which are close to each other and provide convenient access to the island's sights. For your itinerary on the day of arrival, start by visiting the Fengshan Linhai scenic area on South Island. Known as a "golden stopover" on migratory bird routes, Fengshan features lush forests and abundant flowers and fruits, attracting hundreds of rare migratory birds each year—making it a paradise for bird enthusiasts. The Eagle Viewing Platform at Fengshan is a prime spot for birdwatching, where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire island. Linhai, named for its harmonious blend of mountains and sea, is rich in negative oxygen ions. At its southernmost tip lies the famous Changshanwei, where the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea meet—creating a striking contrast as the waves collide dramatically. Visitors can experience the thrill of "standing between two seas" at this majestic location. In the afternoon, visit Crescent Bay on North Island to see the colorful spherical pebbles on the beach. These pebbles are crystal clear like pearls, with varied shapes and colors, and exquisite mottled patterns, which are quite magical. The Seal Garden in the scenic area is home to spotted seals, a national protected animal. Their adorable performances follow their natural instincts, conveying the concept of "protecting the marine ecosystem," making it suitable for families to experience the beauty of harmony. Next, head to Jiuzhang Cliff to see the towering cliffs rise from the sea. Standing beneath the cliff, looking up at the sheer precipice, you'll not only marvel at the wonders of nature but also feel a profound sense of awe. This area preserves Shang Dynasty ruins and boasts rich natural views: Seagull Wing Bay resembles a seagull, and Dragon Tongue Reef is like a stone dragon exploring the sea, making it an ideal choice for geology enthusiasts, photographers, and travelers. In the evening, the lighthouse reflects the sunset glow, creating a scene on the sea where the setting sun appears like blood. The distant Big and Small Heishan Islands gradually form silhouettes, like paper-cuts or ink paintings, offering breathtaking beauty. When you visit Changdao, seafood is a must-try. Changdao offers a wide variety of seafood at flexible prices. Jellyfish, scallops, prawns, and mackerel dumplings are all incredibly delicious. For accommodation in Changdao, you have two options: staying in a hotel or choosing a guesthouse/homestay. If you opt for a guesthouse, we recommend booking in advance and calling the guesthouse multiple times before your arrival to confirm details. You can also ask them to arrange pick-up services and meals for you.Yantai · 88.4km from downtown

Sanxian Mountain Scenic Area is located on the northern coast of the Yellow Sea in Penglai City, adjacent to the Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea attraction. This theme park centers around Taoist culture, featuring majestic pavilions with golden eaves that recreate the mythical "Three Immortal Mountains." Visitors can admire exquisite wood carvings, jade sculptures, and other artistic treasures, including a rare reclining Buddha statue carved from Burmese white jade. The three immortal mountains refer to the legendary "Penglai, Fangzhang, and Yingzhou" from ancient mythology. The grand "celestial palaces" throughout the park are modeled after these mythical paradises, making it an ideal spot for photography. Travel Guide Upon entering the attraction, you'll first arrive at the Hall of Harmony, which enshrines statues of Confucius, Laozi, and Sakyamuni. The Sakyamuni Buddha statue is exquisitely carved from Burmese white jade, while the Confucius and Laozi statues are gilded purple copper with painted details, all bearing solemn expressions. Next, visit the main architectural complexes: Penglai Immortal Island, Fanghu Wonderland, and Yingzhou Fairyland - all majestic structures built on artificial lakes. Climb the pavilions for panoramic views of the entire garden. The Jade Buddha Temple is a place for blessings within the garden, enshrining the "Treasure of the Garden": a reclining Buddha statue of Sakyamuni carved from rare Burmese white jade, the only one of its kind in the world. This magnificent statue weighs 108 tons and was meticulously carved from a single piece of jade. The Buddha's body is adorned with 24K gold and decorated with over 3,000 rubies, sapphires, and emeralds, making it a priceless treasure. Next to the temple stands the Guanyin Pavilion, which houses a 9.9-meter-tall eleven-faced jade Guanyin statue. This statue is embellished with more than 10,000 gemstones, emeralds, and agates, exuding elegance and grandeur. The Treasure House within the garden displays numerous precious art collections: The first-floor hall exhibits petrified wood pieces dating back 200 million years, the second floor showcases calligraphy masterpieces by historical figures, while the third floor features exquisite Yangzhou lacquerware, jade carvings, wood carvings, and other artistic treasures. Additionally, the garden houses dedicated Wood Carving and Nanmu Wood halls, both preserving valuable wooden artworks that are well worth a visit.Yantai · 70.7km from downtown

We spent the morning sightseeing. It was quite crowded during the National Day holiday. The scenery was beautiful, and the hike was relaxing. Having just seen the Eight Immortals, bringing the kids to experience Penglai made the experience even more memorable.

Upon entering, I was greeted by a spectacular performance by eight "gods." The scenic area is stunning from above, with the red brick buildings and clear waters complementing each other beautifully, making it a great place for photos. The recent high temperatures in Yantai have been incredibly hot, so a cooler day would have been a much better experience. Be sure to wear sunscreen.

The attraction is somewhat artificial and rather ordinary, not as good as Penglai Pavilion, but it's okay for a stroll. However, I really liked the seals inside. Although taking photos and feeding them cost extra, it was a rare and satisfying experience. The seagulls on the beach outside were fantastic, very close overhead, and you could even take pictures of the scenic area.

The most worthwhile island to visit on this trip has a unique pebble beach and the sea has beautifully layered colors. Nine-Chang Cliff is very easy to climb, even for seniors. The shuttle bus is highly recommended; it's cheap, punctual, and comfortable, unlike what some travel guides say. The ferry is also good; you can feed the seagulls, although the toilets are slightly lacking.

The whale shark show is the main attraction, but it's very exciting and lasts a long time, almost an hour. The wait can be long, and the venue is packed. Before entering, we saw seals waiting to be fed, which was quite amusing. They were being affectionately fed by their keepers. It was definitely worth the trip.

The kids really enjoyed it and had a lot of fun. We'd definitely come back again if we have the chance. Thumbs up! However, the breakfast quality was just average and didn't quite match the hotel's price of over 1000 yuan. Hopefully, they can improve that.
