- Journey through London
From Royal Palaces and castles to cobbled streets and brutalist architecture, the capital wears its fascinating heritage for all to see. Be wowed by the grandeur of Windsor Castle and The Tower of London, walk in the footsteps of the stars as you wander around the West End, or see the home of parliament at the Palace of Westminster. Ride an elevator to the top of The Shard and take in panoramic views of the landscape and wander through Kew Garden’s lush green expanse when you come back down to earth. With its history dating back to the Roman times, there’s plenty to see, do, and experience when you explore this captivating city.
- A showstopping city
London’s West End – widely celebrated as being the gold standard of commercial theatre, standing alongside New York’s Broadway. With just under 40 venues, London
and theatre go hand-in-hand, which is why no trip to the city is complete without visiting the West End. From Hollywood A-listers to Olivier Award-winning playwrights,
the West End is the only place to watch the most immersive shows performed by the very best actors and actresses in the world. Enjoy spectacular musicals. Let the
expressive emotion of opera sweep you away. Experience the elegance of ballet in one of the most famous theatre districts in the world. Home to the best shows, shops, and dining spots, the West End buzzes with life and provides its visitors with no end of entertainment and things to do.
- South Bank
London’s South Bank, on the banks of the Thames, is home to the National Theatre, Festival Hall, and plenty of restaurants for all budgets. This bustling area is the perfect place to while away a lazy afternoon, not to mention take advantage of the magnificent views of the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben on the other side of the river. Head further east, and you’ll also find Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, an open-air replica of a Jacobean theatre, located in the same spot during Shakespeare’s time. If that isn’t enough history for you, climb aboard the Golden Hinde: an Elizabethan galleon ship and full-size reconstruction of Sir Francis Drake’s flagship. Then over to the city’s historic Bankside area to see Southwark Cathedral – London’s oldest Gothic building. From there, the underground tombs of London Bridge lie within walking distance. Are you brave enough to uncover the haunting tales of the city’s notorious past at the London Bridge Experience?
- Outside the box
While there’s plenty to see in the heart of the capital, the outer boroughs also have a lot to offer. Head west, and there’s everything from the magnificent gardens and
greenhouses in Kew, grand palaces in Hampton Court, and Royal History in Windsor. And if your appetite for opulence isn’t quite satisfied, visit Ranger’s House, a Georgian villa with around 700 medieval and Renaissance masterpieces. Or if being out and about is more your thing, hop on a boat down the Thames and explore Greenwich. This Royal Borough combines history at National Maritime Museum and Old Royal Naval College, science at the Royal Observatory Greenwich, and architecture at the Queen’s House and of course Cutty Sark which is the last surviving tea clipper, and the fastest and greatest of her time. Not to mention boasting some of the finest parks and views in the whole of the city.
