Shenyang Forbidden City(Shinyoukokyuu)It is located in the heart of Shenyang's old city.The predecessor of the Qing Dynasty was the Later Jin. The Imperial Palace was built when the Jin Dynasty moved the capital from Liaoyang to Shenyang. It was built by Grand Ancestor Nurhachi and Second Ancestor Hongtaiji. It was basically completed in the first year of Sutoku (1636), and at that time was called Shengjing Palace. The third emperor, Sezu (Shunzhi Emperor) ascended the throne here in the first year of Shunzhi (1644), but immediately after that he moved the capital to Beijing, crossing the Shanhai Pass. Even after the capital was moved, it was called the Mukden Palace, and Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong visited here.The entire Imperial Palace is lined with towers and hall letters, and is magnificent and majestic, making it the second most perfect imperial palace after the Forbidden City in Beijing. The level of technology is quite high, and the style is strongly regional, with features of both Han and Manchu architecture.After the establishment of New China, it was opened to the public as the Shenyang Palace Museum, and exhibits include the sword used by Nurhachi, the waist sword used by Hong Taiji, and the calligraphy and paintings of Wen Zhengming, a literary figure from Jiangnan during the Ming Dynasty.Zhaoling(shoryo)Also known as Beiling (Park), it is located in the northern part of Shenyang city.It is the tomb of Emperor Taizong and Empress of the Qing Dynasty, and is the most complete of the three Guanwai mausoleums of the Qing Dynasty (the other two being Fuling and Yongling).Construction began in the 8th year of Chongde (1643) of the Qing Dynasty, completed in the 8th year of Shunzhi (1651), and expanded during the Kangxi and Jiaqing years. The site is 180,000 square meters, built on level ground, with a surrounding wall, and a Seikomon gate in the center of the south side. Outside the Seihong Gate, there are highly artistic stone pavilions and various other buildings, and on both sides of the grave path inside the gate, there are 44 flower plates, 12 stone beasts, and two large main pillars lined up in pairs. It is said that the two stone horses, ``'' and ``Kohaku,'' were modeled after Taejong's beloved horse during his lifetime. Proceeding to the center, Long'en Hall is built, with Long'en Hall at the center, halls arranged in the east and west, square towers at the four corners, Long'en Gate in front, and Ming Tower at the back. A stone monument has been erected. The northern part of Fangseong is the crescent-shaped Boseong, and below the Boseong is the underground palace where the Taejong couple are buried.Like Fuling, it was strictly guarded as a forbidden land during the Qing Dynasty.
