Puffing Billy is Australia's premier preserved steam railway and operates every day except Christmas Day!
The journey aboard Puffing Billy takes you through the magnificent Dandenong Ranges, located only one hour east of Melbourne.
With lush fern gullies brushing past and Mountain Ash trees towering overhead, Puffing Billy makes for a wonderful opportunity to relax and breathe in the fresh air whilst the train makes its way through the temperate rainforest.

The new historic museum covers a space of 1,160 square meters and houses over 80 exhibits, including rare operational steam and diesel locomotives, carriages, and a rail tractor. Adding to the atmosphere, the Museum also features an operational boiler house that services steam engines, fluid pumps, and 500 brake horsepower generators.
A themed children's play area and the Little Toot Cafe provide space to sit down, relax and await the 30-minute train journey back to Belgrave.

- Free cancellation at or before 00:00 at least 8 days before the date of use
- Cancellations made after 00:00 at least 8 days before the date of use will incur a cancellation fee of 100%
- Partial cancellation of this booking is not permitted
How to Use It
- Please present your electronic voucher at Belgrave Station to redeem your round-trip boarding pass.
- You can board and seat in any carriage (except the special carriage).
- In order to ensure that you can ride together with your companion, it is recommended to redeem the boarding pass at least 45 minutes before the departure from the tickets office
- Arrive at Puffing Billy Belgrave station (starting point) and go to the online booking window to redeem your boarding pass

The mandatory wearing of fitted face masks is subject to Victorian Government COVIDSafe Requirements and visitors will be expected to adhere to the rules that are in place at the time.

Vaccination status is not required upon entry to any indoor or outdoor area of Puffing Billy Railway.

Tickets cannot be refunded after the train starts, please make sure the number of people is correct before getting on the train.
We try to confirm all reservations, but Billy Puffing has the right to change the departure time, major event or train type without prior notice.
On declared days of Total Fire Ban in the Central Zone or the whole state of Victoria, steam locomotives will not run. Instead, the train will be operated with a diesel locomotive.
Safety instructions: Do not hang legs outside of the carriage. Do not stand, walk or sit on the railway track. Do not leave the platform or step down on the track.Do not touch or climb onto the locomotive, as parts of it are hot.Stand behind the safety line marked on all platforms.Do not open carriage doors on the non-platform side of the train.Do not open carriage doors while the train is moving.Smoking is not permitted on the train, platforms or under any roofed areas.Alcohol is not permitted on trains (except as provided on dining cars).No drones allowed.
