Chantilly, located 60 kilometers north of Paris, is famous for its castles, forests, and racecourses. Senlis is a quiet ancient city with a long history located about 60 kilometers northeast of Paris. It was once one of the most important military centers of the Roman Empire, and Christianity took root here as early as the 4th century. In 986, Hugues Capet was elected king of France by the royal family at the Château royal in Senlis, establishing the Capetian dynasty (Capétiens) in French history. Senlis was very prosperous and peaceful in the Middle Ages, but in the 14th and 15th centuries, the Hundred Years War and the outbreak of epidemics caused the town to gradually decline.Even though history has changed beyond recognition, the medieval appearance of the town remains the same, and many historical buildings and even some relics from the Roman period are still preserved.
