It is also a neighbor of the Irish Museum of Natural History, which mainly collects and displays European paintings and sculptures from the 14th to 20th centuries. In 1901, the Countess of Milton donated approximately 200 paintings. The collection now contains approximately 10,000 items.</h2><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><h2>National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts &amp; History:</h2><p><br></p><p></p><h2>This magnificent early neoclassical basalt building was once the Biggest's military barracks in the world. It is located on the north bank of the Liffey River and was completed in 1704. The designer Thomas Berger's works also include the Old Library of Holy Trinity College and St Michan's Church.</h2><h2>The museum's exhibits include a large number of precious cultural relics, and there is also an exquisite exhibition dedicated to the famous Irish designer Eileen Gray (1878-1976). The fascinating Way We Wore exhibition showcases Irish clothing and accessories from the past 250 years.</h2><h2><br></h2><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><h2>National Museum of Ireland Ard:</h2><p><br></p><p></p><h2><br></h2><h2>National Museum of Ireland - The Museum of Archeology's collection contains artefacts from prehistoric Ireland, including bog bodies, Iron and Bronze Age objects such as bronze, silver and gold axes, swords and shields, the earliest dating to the 3rd century AD. In addition, it houses classical objects from ancient Egypt, Cyprus and the Roman world.</h2><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><h2><br></h2><h2>Irish Museum of Modern Art:</h2><p><br></p><p><br></p><p></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><h2>The Irish Museum of Modern Art is the best-preserved 17th-century building in the country. It was built in 1684 on the order of James Butler, Duke of Ireland. Its appearance is modeled after the Invalides in Paris. It is a royal hospital dedicated to receiving and treating veterans. The hospital operated for more than 250 years until it was abandoned in 1950.</h2><p><br></p><h2>In 1990, the Irish government founded the Irish Museum of Modern Art and chose the former site of the Royal Hospital as its building. The museum was officially opened to the public in 1991 after renovation.</h2>
