Udo ShrineIt is a shrine located in Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. The old shrine structure was Kanmo Taisha Shrine (now the Beppote Shrine of the main shrine). In the first year of Enryaku (782), the Tendai sect's monk Kokibo Kuaiku was ordered to rebuild the shrine and build a temple at the same time. He was given the edict title "Utoyama Daigōgen Gohirazan Nio Gokokuji Temple". During the Meiji Restoration, the current name of the temple was abolished and renamed "Udo Shrine". In the 7th year of Meiji (1874), it was renamed "Udo Shrine". Udo Shrine is located in the southern part of Miyazaki Prefecture.
