Our driver, Baba, was incredibly dedicated. Throughout the trip, he diligently shared information about the sights, local history, and even vividly recounted Maori mythology. The journey was long, but his earnest and responsible sharing made the trip anything but boring.

We took the tour from Te Anau. We stopped at many places on the way to Milford Sound, allowing us to take photos. You can buy lunch on the Milford Sound cruise, or bring your own. We were grateful for the free coffee, tea, and water. We were able to see many incredibly high cliffs and really get a feel for the sheer scale of the place.

We won the NZ lottery and had a sunny clear day for the trip. Driver arrived on time. He was really accommodating as someone in my party needed a disabled spot. The food on the cruise was good. Plus there was free coffee and tea on board. You are able to move between the 3 levels of the ship. We were in all 3 levels. There were 2-3 stops each way to see some sights on the way. Great value and a once in a lifetime experience 👏

This excursion exceeded my expectations. The boat transport there and back across the lake was lovely, especially since the skies were sunny and clear. The tour guide for our small group of 12 was personable and well-informed. The walk through the caves was strenuous (bending down very low at points) but a fascinating work of nature. I loved that we boarded a boat and floated in the darkness to see the glow worms.... a spiritual experience for me. Because we weren't allowed to take photos nor to speak, I truly was in the "now." It was almost like looking at the constellations in a place without light interference! On the way out, we were allowed to take some photos and videos. After all that, we were served hot drinks in the lodge and watched a film to learn more about the glow worm with commentary from a very knowledgeable guide. A suggestion is to make available for purchase a CD or flash drive with photos taken of the glow worms with a professional low-light camera.

A fabulous afternoon on the lake and through the caves. The caves and glow worms were amazing. The guides were helpful and knowledgeable. Thoroughly recommend it. Don’t leave NZ without doing this!!


