<h2>"game of Thrones"</h2> The main location of this popular fantasy drama is here. As a die-hard fan of the Game of Thrones series, Dubrovnik must be a must-visit holy place. Strolling through the small town, one scene at a time, the familiar street scenes will pull you back to the Game of Thrones drama. <h2>bernard shaw</h2> Fascinated by this beautiful city, he said "those seeking heaven on earth should come to Dubrovnik" and described it as "the pearl of the Adriatic". Dubrovnik was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979. Here, time seems to have stopped, and you are back to the Middle Ages in a trance! <h2>Classic attractions</h2> <h3>1. Pile Gate</h3> The city gate was built in 1537 and is the main entrance to the old city. It is the starting point for visiting Dubrovnik’s old city. There is a drawbridge at the old city gate. In the past, in order to prevent enemy invasion, the drawbridge would be raised every night, the gate would be closed, and access would be prohibited. The key would need to be given to the bishop for safekeeping. Above the arch is enshrined a statue of Saint Blaise, the patron saint of Dubrovnik, the work of Ivan Mestrovič, one of the greatest Croatian sculptors. As the main entrance to the old city, it ranks among the highest in the Game of Thrones for its appearance rate. Many scenes including the civilian riots in King's Landing, Jaime Lannister's arrest and Brienne's return to King's Landing were filmed here. <h3>2. Onofrio's Fountain</h3> This is one of Dubrovnik's famous landmarks, built in the 15th century. At that time, the water supply problem in the city was very serious. The summer was long and dry and hot. In order to solve the water supply problem, the Senate at that time decided to divert water from a spring in the village of Knežice, 12 kilometers away from the city. The project was designed and built by Onofrio, an Italian architect from southern Naples, but the project was very difficult and expensive. It is said that Onofrio made an oath with the Senate that if the spring water could not be introduced into the city, Onofrio would bear all the costs himself. At first, the fountain was decorated with complicated decorations, but it was severely damaged by the earthquake in 1667, and only 16 water outlets survived. The water in the fountain is still drinkable today. <h3>3. City wall</h3>If you come to Dubrovnik, your trip would be in vain if you don’t go up to the city walls. Because no other city in the world has preserved their medieval walls as perfectly as Dubrovnik, which is why Dubrovnik was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List back in 1970. These walls were built between the 12th and 17th centuries and are still well preserved today. The city wall is about 2 kilometers long and includes 16 large and small towers, the larger of which is the Sveti Ivan Tower, built at the entrance to the town's old port, Porporela. <h3></h3> <h3>4. Lovriyanak Fortress</h3> Lovrijenac Fortress, also known as St. Lawrence Fortress, is 37 meters above sea level and is known as "Dubrovnik's Gibraltar" because it guards the two entrances to Dubrovnik's sea and land routes. As early as 1225, the Dominicans Founded their monastery in Dubrovnik, but the construction of the Dominican monastery we see today took much longer and was not completed until the 14th century. The location chosen for the monastery was one of the sensitive places in Dubrovnik's defense system, so as early as the 14th century the entire complex was demolished, thus becoming an integral part of Dubrovnik. <h3>7. Dubrovnik Cathedral</h3> The Assumption Cathedral in Dubrovnik is a Roman Catholic church and the main church of the Catholic Diocese of Dubrovnik. The church was damaged during the Yugoslav Civil War and has now been restored. According to legend, Richard the Lionheart was returning from the Crusades in 1192 when he was shipwrecked in a storm and stranded on the island of Lokrum in front of Dubrovnik. In gratitude for God's deliverance, he vowed to build a great church at the place where his life was saved. When he expressed his intentions to the Dubrovnik leaders, they convinced him to build the church in Dubrovnik. <h3>8. Governor’s Palace</h3>The Governor's Palace is a landmark building in Zagreb, located south of Luža Square. It was the office of the Governor of the Republic of Ragusa from the 14th to the early 19th century. Originally built in the 13th century, it was later destroyed by natural disasters and a gunpowder explosion in the Doge's Palace Armory. It was redesigned and rebuilt in Venetian Gothic style by Michelozzo. The Governor's Palace is also the filming location for Qarth in Game of Thrones. The conversation between Daenerys and Xaro Xanwan Daxos, the Thirteen Giants, is in the Governor's Palace. <h3>9. Franciscan Church and Monastery</h3>The Franciscan Church and Monastery is a religious building in Dubrovnik that houses not only a monastery and a church, but also a library and pharmacy. The pharmacy in the monastery is one of the oldest pharmacies in the world and is said to be the third oldest pharmacy still operating in the world. The monastery library was built in the 17th century, and in 1896 a theological preparatory was added to the monastery. After the earthquake on April 6, 1667, the church was restored in Baroque style. It is one of the larger and most magnificent Franciscan monasteries in Croatia, it has two monasteries: the upper (Renaissance style,) and the lower monastery (Romanesque-Gothic style, characterized by decorative hexagons), arches and basilica gallery. The colonnade of the monastery consists of a pair of elegant eight-sided columns, each with a different capital, depicting human heads, animals, monsters, floral patterns, etc. The Croatian sculptor Mihoje Brajkov designed this masterpiece, and his tombstone is located in part of the southern monastery. <h3>10. Dubrovnik Art Museum</h3>Dubrovnik Art Museum was founded in 1945. The building was originally conceived and built as the residence of Dubrovnik shipowner Boža Banca (from 1935 to 1939) and in 1948 it became exhibition spaces and museums. Designed by the famous Croatian architects Lavoslav Horvat and Harold Bilinić, the building is designed in the Neo-Renaissance Gothic style, based on the masterpieces of Renaissance architecture in the city and countryside of Dubrovnik. The renovation of the building houses 9 exhibition halls, storage areas and several smaller studios. Together with a large terrace facing the sea and gardens, the gallery has approximately 900 m² of closed and over 1100 m² of open exhibition space. <h3>11. War Photo Art Museum</h3>The curator of the art museum is Wade Goddard, a New Zealand photojournalist who worked in the Balkans in the 1990s. It aims to expose the cruelty and ruthlessness of war to the public and pay attention to the injustice caused by war to innocent people and combatants. <h3>12. Dubrovnik Cable Car Station</h3>If you want to see the panoramic view of Ducheng, where is the place? That must be the end of the sightseeing cable car.
