Day 1Starting in central London, you'll pass through Wessex, one of England's ancient kingdoms.You'll travel through this thousand-year-old region on your way to the historic city of Winchester, England's Anglo-Saxon capital made famous by Alfred the Great, with its stunning cathedral and Norman halls.From this busy City, you'll travel to a place equally profound but far more tranquil: Stonehenge, a masterfully preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site.At the award-winning visitor centre you can view exhibitions of hundreds of prehistoric objects from Stonehenge's collection. Take a shuttle train to the world-famous stone circle.Afterwards, you'll head to Exeter, an important fortified settlement in Roman times and your accommodation for the next two nights.*Please note that Stonehenge will be closed on 21 June 2024 due to the Summer Solstice. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Day 2You'll explore the remote, windswept and stunning landscapes of Dartmoor, where you can see herds of local ponies grazing near Standard Price rock formations.Dartmoor is also home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, so enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the isolated beauty of the moors.You'll cross the ancient clamp bridge of Postbridge and make your way to Tavistock, the historic market town and birthplace of Sir Francis Drake.Returning to Exeter in the early afternoon, you have the opportunity to explore the City's ancient riches at your leisure. The city walls, the Norman Cathedral, the Royal Albert Memorial and the quayside all await you. 3rd dayIn Cornwall, England's most westerly county, Arthurian legend intertwines with real Celtic history.You'll travel west to the North Cornish coast and the Elizabethan fishing village of Boscastle, where you can enjoy a cream tea, stroll to a dramatic headland, or learn a spell or two at the Witch Museum.You will travel to the village of Tintagel and its castle ruins on the headland, reputedly the birthplace of King Arthur. After Lunch, you will head to the port town of Port Isaac, where you can visit the filming locations of Doc Martin and fall in love with this picturesque fishing village. You will then travel south to the busy port town of Falmouth, where you will stay for two nights. Day 4Today we will explore the West End of England. We will stop briefly to see the island community of St Michael's Mount.We then continue to the unique Minack Theatre*, which sits above the roaring ocean and the beautiful National Trust beach of Porthcurno. Due to availability, you may not be able to visit this theatre. Your Guide will inform you on the way.You visit Land's End and walk along a landscape dotted with Cornish tin mining ruins, the filming location for the Poldark series. Your final stop of the day is St Ives, where numerous artists' galleries are hidden in a maze of narrow harbour streets.In the evening you will return to Falmouth for the night.*Please note that the Minack Theatre is now closed on Mondays and Tuesdays during the winter months (reopening 7 days a week around Easter). This means that tours departing on Friday or Saturday will not be able to visit the attraction. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Day 5This morning you'll say goodbye to Cornwall and cross Bodmin Moor, a wild grassland designated as an attraction of ​​Outstanding Natural Beauty.Before leaving Cornwall, we’ll take a break and continue to Glastonbury, where you can visit the ruins of a 7th-century abbey, enjoy Lunch, or climb Glastonbury Tor for views of the Five Counties.From here, you'll return to London, a busy City that is very different from the magical experience you've enjoyed in Devon and Cornwall.
