You leave busy Manchester behind and head straight to the picturesque Lake District. The first stop of the day is Bowness, located on the shores of Lake Windermere. Here you can choose to take a leisurely boat trip on the lake, or stroll through the town and admire the picturesque surroundings. You will then skirt the southern end of Lake Windermere towards Coniston Water. After enjoying the beauty of this body of water, you will arrive at the picturesque conservation village of Hawkshead, home to the grammar school that poet William Wordsworth attended. After exploring this cozy little village, you'll head north along narrow country lanes to Grasmere, which Wordsworth once described as "the loveliest place ever found on earth." Here you’ll have free time to visit Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage, sample the legendary gingerbread or enjoy a moment of peace and quiet in the Wordsworth Daffodil Garden beside the River Rothy. We then travel along country roads to Ullswater Lake, taking in the spectacular scenery as we reach the southern shore of the lake, before returning to Manchester in the evening.
