Reviews: 1-day tour to Milford Sound / Piopiotahi with Southern Discoveries in New Zealand [Round-trip from Queenstown/Te Anau]
Guest User2026-09-17
Although the view of the falls from the boat is only one to two minutes close, the entire trip is well-timed, eliminating the need for a six-hour round trip drive. Joining a local tour is the best option.

Reviews: New Zealand Milford Sound 1-Day Tour | Panoramic Bus + Fjord Cruise + Optional Buffet Lunch

The operator replies to messages very fast. Instructions given were very clear the day before. The bus picked up time punctually. The driver, also acts as a guide, Abby is very professional and knowledgeable. He'll give a brief introduction about the surroundings on the way to Milford Sound Cruise. He's a good driver too.. The drive was very smooth and comfortable. Overall, it was a good experience. We were happy to have Abby on that day.

Reviews: New Zealand Milford Sound / Piopiotahi 1-day tour | Realnz direct booking | available from Queenstown/Te Anau

First of all, I must say the bus driver was extremely dedicated and demonstrated very professional qualities; kudos to him! Although the day trip lasted twelve hours, because of the four rest stops for sightseeing and the driver's smooth driving, I didn't feel too tired at the end of the day. Overall, I would recommend it.

Reviews: Queenstown to Milford Sound / Piopiotahi round-trip fixed-wing flight: Southern discovery cruise sightseeing
Guest User2026-10-19
It was fantastic! A visit to Milford Sound by land from Queenstown takes a full day, but a Cessna flight cuts it down to half the time. Plus, the view of the snow-capped mountains from the air is breathtaking. The round-trip Cessna flight is expensive, but it's efficient considering the travel time saved. You can even continue your sightseeing after returning. The pilot, Joseph, was fun and handsome. Thank you!

Reviews: Queenstown round-trip: Milford Sound / Piopiotahi southern discovery cruise (nature | in-depth | all-inclusive optional)

Although it was a foreign bus and we didn't speak the language, it didn't hinder our sightseeing. Foreign buses are so easy; they'll drop you off at the most scenic spots, it's so relaxing! Our driver, Uncle Tom, drove incredibly smoothly and didn't make us carsick at all. The scenery along the way was absolutely gorgeous. Just be careful to listen for the return times when you get off; if you don't understand, ask the driver. Oh, and on our way back, Uncle Tom even showed us sheep shearing at a farm we passed.
