Reviews: Mekong Delta One-day Tour in Ho Chi Minh City, Boats tour to My Tho - Vinh Trang Pagoda - Thoi Son Island [ English-Guide | No Shopping | Hotel Pick-up - Lunch included]
Guest User2025-11-28
I booked a VIP tour this time, and the itinerary was very packed, with five or six boat trips in total, making it a fairly in-depth tour. The Mekong River didn't look very clear; the water was quite yellow and covered with water hyacinths, but there was no unpleasant odor. The island had many plants (various fruits) and animals (pythons, crocodiles, catfish, etc.), and the guide led the tour, providing very enthusiastic explanations. At the narrow section of the river where boats were manually rowed, the guide mentioned that a tip was expected for the rowers. Before the tour ended, the guide suggested that if we were satisfied with the trip, we could also tip him; I felt I had to give him something, otherwise I'd feel awkward.
Reviews: Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta Day Tour

We had a great day on this tour. We were picked up in Ho Chi Minh City and went by bus to see the Cu Chi tunnels from the Vietnam War. It was very interesting and informative, and the guide explained a lot. Walking inside the tunnels was amazing - very narrow and unforgettable. After that we had lunch, and it was a big surprise: a lot of food and everything was very tasty. Then we went to the Mekong River and had a nice boat ride, which was really fun. We also saw how coconut candies are made and visited a small honey farm. Our guide Luis was excellent. He was very friendly, helpful, answered all our questions, and clearly cared about making the tour enjoyable. We really appreciated his effort. Highly recommended!
Reviews: Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta Full-Day Tour with Luxury Limousine Options

It's a typical day trip tour, with similar itineraries across different companies. It includes local attractions, island hopping, fruit and honey shopping, etc. There's a little shopping, but it's not mandatory, and both sellers and buyers are quite restrained. This is typical for this price range; if you don't want to waste time waiting for others, book the 500+ RMB per person tour. Special praise to the local customer service representative, Mikey. My partner and I stayed in an apartment outside the river in District 4, outside the free pick-up and drop-off area. However, considering it would be inconvenient for us to get a taxi so early in the morning, Mikey thoughtfully arranged for a guide to pick us up with a car. Excellent service!
Reviews: Saigon River Dinner Cruise with Water Puppet Show

The Puppet show is very interesting. We liked it and we had a great time watching the show. Our Dinner cruise was fine. We had the buffet dinner, food tasted good but less food were left on the buffet table when we arrived. Nevertheless,we had our full and enjoyed some entertainment on board and view of the ciry on top deck.
Reviews: Small-Group Mekong Delta Day Trip: Boat Ride, Cottages & Pagoda

We had to make our own way to the pickup point in district 1 (we were in 5), which was not what we wanted, but ok using a Grab cab. We met with Nam & his driver, they were friendly & welcoming. It was about a 2 hour drive to the first stop Vinh Trang Pagoda, a beautiful old Buddhist temple. Make a wish to the giant Buddha. Beautiful bonsais. Good to buy cheap souvenirs there. You need tissues for the restrooms! Nam let us look around ourselves for 20 minutes. Next stop, a boat trip across the Mekong river to Thoi Son Isle. That’s a big river! Nam told us about the bees there & we sampled the products the local people made. Bit of a hard sell feeling though to buy the products. There was also a demo making rice products. You could hug a python too - eek! We had fruit & tea whilst listening to singers (who placed baskets on the tables to tip). Then a small boat ride through the water coconut waterways & a tuk-tuk ride to the lunch venue. Our vegetarian lunch was super - try the sticky rice ball! Feed the crocs & the hundreds of catfish (sad). Then a final small boat ride back to the Mekong river boat. Once again felt pressured to tip the small boat drivers. Across the Mekong again & a long drive back to district 1. We had a good day, but felt our guide could have interacted more with us throughout the whole journey - sorry Nam. The constant pressure to tip people was really awkward. This tour stated we would see gardens & be able to ride bikes & this was not offered. If you’re going on this trip, either be firm & say no, or take lots of small notes for tipping!
