After visiting Monteverde five times, I am convinced that George is the best guide you will find in the area.
I used George as a guide for a solo trip a couple of years ago, and most recently while traveling in Costa Rica with my 15-month old and my mother and her two friends. George was so helpful with my baby, carrying my backpack while I carried my babe in a carrier. He was patient with my elderly mother and her friends, allowing us to rest and take a break when needed. He made sure our tours were accessible to my mom and her friends, while still seeing some of the most beautiful birds and animals. George was our guide for hanging bridges, a night tour, birding and a walk to the Continental Divide. He is a very talented photographer, so he will get great photos of you and your family and all of the beautiful things you see.
George is well-loved and respected in the community, which means when you come across other guides on your treks, they will tell him the location of where they have recently seen the hard to find animals, like the quetzal! Every time I visit Monteverde, I see new beautiful birds and animals because George is on top of his game. 🦜🌱🐍🌳🌙🦋★

We saw a variety of birds and animals to include a bellbird, saberwing hummingbird, several toucans, trogons, a mama and baby owl, tarantula, coatis with their young and an agouti. We so enjoyed Chris’ vast knowledge of rainforest ecology and how it is so intertwined with geography and human behavior. We even met George Powell along the trail! We have learned so much about Costa Rica on all of our tours! Worthwhile!★

My experience at the Curicancha Cloud Forest Reserve was absolutely unforgettable. The beauty of the cloud forest is something truly unique, lush vegetation and an incredible sense of peace all around. What really made the difference, though, was our guide, Wilson. He was outstanding in every possible way: extremely knowledgeable, always eager to share insights, and able to spot wildlife we would have completely missed on our own. On top of that, he was friendly, approachable, and genuinely passionate about what he does, which made the entire experience even more enjoyable. We were also incredibly lucky during our tour. We managed to see a wide variety of wildlife, including several species of birds and animals that made the experience feel almost surreal. Each sighting felt special, and Wilson made sure to explain everything in detail, adding so much value to every moment. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area.★

Oscar took my husband and I for the 5 hour bird watching tour. It was wonderful. We saw lots of different birds. Oscar was a very knowledgeable guide and passed his knowledge with ease. Good communication and well managed. Our best wildlife tour of the holiday.★

I booked a last minute private tour with Juan Carlo. He proved to be a very professional guide and a pleasure to communicate with him. We spent around 5 hours in the nature of Monteverde. Spotted lots of birds (a matter of seconds for him) including the beautiful Quetzal tropical bird. Had a fantastic morning!
If you are into birds, don't mind getting up before 6am and are looking for the best guide. Schedule this tour and enjoy!
