Kyoto: Sagano Romantic Train and Hozugawa River Cruise

Begin your journey at Saga Torokko Station, located next to JR Saga-Arashiyama Station. Explore the museum with historical locomotives, including an old steam engine, and a large-scale railway diorama featuring Kyoto's famous sites. Grab drinks, snacks, and souvenirs in the rest area or relax in the café.

Board the Sagano Romantic Train, an old-fashioned train running on a 19th-century narrow-gauge railway. Travel through picturesque countryside between Saga-Arashiyama and Kameoka, enjoying fantastic views of the Hozugawa River gorge, forests, and mountains.

Your experience comes to an end once the train reaches Kameoka Torokko Station. From here, you can choose to take the sightseeing train back to Saga Torokko Station or make the return journey by boat down the Hozugawa River (cost of return journey not included).

If you choose to travel back by boat, a shuttle bus will transfer you to the boat departure point. Then, boatmen with long bamboo poles guide you down the river, through the scenic valley and some mild rapids.

Enjoy a 2-hour cruise along a 16-kilometer course. Along the way, another boat with an engine will pull up alongside the tour boat and sell drinks and snacks to the passengers.
