Sommarøyis a small fishing island in Northern Norway, located within the Arctic Circle. It sits at the mouth of a fjord west of Tromso, and you can reach the island by driving about 1 hour from downtown Tromso and crossing the bridge. The island is famous for its unique relationship with time: from mid-May to late July, it experiences the polar day, where the sun does not set for over 2 months; from late November to mid-January of the following year, the sun barely rises at all. The island's natural scenery is equally stunning: fine white sand beaches paired with clear, turquoise waters have led many travelers to call it the "Caribbean of the North." Standing on the beach, you can also look out at the sharp Håja island in the sea; it is said that the design of the Arctic Cathedral in Tromso was inspired by it. Summer is perfect for strolling on the beach under the midnight sun or going kayaking; in winter, the low light pollution makes it a great place to view the aurora around Tromso.Sommaroy · 1.5km from downtown

The Tromso Fjords are located near the city of Tromso in Northern Norway, where rugged mountains, deep valleys, and vast bays combine to create a unique Arctic fjord view. The fjord is flanked by steep cliffs, with slopes alternately covered in greenery and snow, creating a stunning mirror effect as they reflect on the water. These waters are a habitat for wildlife such as seals and seabirds, and large marine creatures like humpback whales can occasionally be spotted. The fjord is nestled against the mountains of Tromso, and the panoramic view of mountains and sea forms the most iconic natural backdrop for this Arctic city, making it a quintessential destination for experiencing fjord scenery within the Norwegian Arctic Circle.Tromso · 2.2km from downtown

Arctic Cathedralis located in Tromso, Norway, situated on the mainland side across the strait from the city center. Completed in 1965, it was designed by architect Jan Inge Hovig. The roof on both sides is composed of multiple layers of aluminum-coated concrete panels, with a mountain-like silhouette that rises from the entrance toward the altar. From a distance, it resembles layered ice peaks or raised white sails, and some also describe it as looking like the aurora curtains. Its Norwegian display name means "Arctic Ocean Cathedral." Although it is actually a parish church, it has become a highly recognizable city symbol of Tromso due to this unique design.Tromsdalen · 7.3km from downtown

Storsteinen is located at an altitude of 421m in Tromso, Norway, and is one of the most famous vantage points for overlooking the panoramic view of the Arctic city. Taking the Fjellheisen cable car, it only takes about 4 minutes to reach the summit from the foot of the mountain, overlooking the entire Tromso Island, the surrounding fjords and distant snow-capped peaks, as well as city landmarks such as the Arctic Cathedral and the Tromso Bridge. The summit features an observation deck and a restaurant, and can be reached by cable car all year round, making it a classic must-do experience when visiting Tromso.Tromsdalen · 5.8km from downtown

Tickets were issued quickly. I booked them while queuing at the cable car station and managed to get them just in time before entering the gate. They were much cheaper than buying them on-site – great! The blue hour view from the mountain, the city night view, and the Northern Lights were absolutely stunning!

I've just visited this incredible place during the polar night, and even been with a light light, it was an amazing visit. The small beaches invite you to eat something sitting on the sand while watching the Norwegian Sea.At the village you can find a small supermarket and an electric car charging station.

I went there in autumn. There is no polar day or polar night. The mountains and rivers are beautiful and the air is fresh. It is a good place to relax and unwind. I stayed there for a week. I would recommend everyone who is tired from work to stay in Norway for a week. I didn't live in the city center, but Tromso is so small. The city center, suburbs and airport are all about 15 minutes away by bus. Live slowly and play slowly. In the past, you could see the northern lights as long as it was sunny. Don't get too tired. It is really a good place to absorb energy. If you live by the sea, you will be in a good mood as soon as you open the window every day. Anyway, it is worth a visit.

Where is the northernmost Catholic church in the world? It's Tromso in Norway. If you don't drive to the church, you can take the bus, but we choose to walk slowly, from the city center harbor, walk along the seaside, then walk up the bridge and go straight to see the church. The church is actually not big, because it was not open when I went, the front is glass, you can look inside, nothing special, then walked around the church, the back is stained glass windows, with white snow, very beautiful.

Winter in Tromsø is really beautiful. The snowy daytime brings a bit of bleakness, with fallen trees neatly lined up on both sides of the road. There are not many pedestrians on the road, and seabirds occasionally fly by with squawks, making people feel so peaceful and comfortable. This is also another way to relax on vacation.

Pretty, romantic bridge that connects the two parts of the town. An iconic structure of Tromsø. When night falls, it’s beautiful with surrounding buildings all lit.
